Av cable question

Green-Bull

CAGiversary!
I got an Xbox the other week. And since the av cables aren't like the GC/N64/SNES' I can't listen to my games using my headphones. I went to Radio Shack and bought an Audio Cable (it's black and isn't color coded) and Coupler (isn't color coded either). See, I wanted to extend the Video (yellow) part of the av cables that came with the Xbox to reach the vcr (which is up high, sorta). And then leave the red/white on the floor to hook my headphones into.

The guy at RadioShack said the Audio Cable would work for the video part, even though it wasn't color coded yellow. Was he just saying that so I'd buy it or what? I wanted someone elses opinion. Hope this isn't a stupid question. :) Thanks.

I'm not positive but I think he's right. The color coding is there to help you hook up the cables to the correct spot but it doesn't matter which one actually goes to which color. For example you could hook up the white to the red as long as you did it on both ends.
