Yes it is. And you're right -- availability is an issue.

The B&N I went to this week had several tables full of clearance merchandise, but I didn't see anything advertised on the first sale page. So, if you don't mind sifting through piles of crap, you might find something decent.

If I recall, the in-store availability really varies depending upon what's on-hand. My local one has plenty of particular books on clearance (marked by specific stickers) but some others have completely different titles.

That's not to say that there aren't some amazing values in there but it's definitely a deal where you may have to really look around to find what you want.
