No, you will regret it.

Just wait until Friday morning or afternoon. Servers will probably be bjorked right on release anyways.

(no extra goodies are worth a midnight release)
How about if its at 9pm? Lol
I thought it would worth picking up so I can let it download the patch and whatever data it needs from the disc while I sleep

I agree unless it works out. I for the most part gave up on midnight releases years ago but still might do it every now and then for a big game. I usually take the next day off from work.

Halo midnight release at my store was kinda a cluster but they had some goodies. My main gripe is that it takes forever to install games now adays. I wasn't able to start playing until like after 2AM which is not acceptable. Back in the old days it was awesome.

I wish digital games were cheaper or i would go that route.

9PM isnt too bad. If I could get it at that time I would, but I actually get in bed at that time -.-

I hate game installs and would rather go full digital, but like you stated, the prices dont dont compare to physical which is ridiculous. I plan on heading to BBY right after work, walking in the door, letting it install while I get changed and eat. By that time, it's normally done :D

I have been to the mid-night events for all cods since MW3, you can stroll in there at 12:20 and pick up your game. There wont be any crowd.

The last midnight I did where I got there early was for The Force Unleashed, and I only did that to guarantee that I got my GS exclusive storm trooper figure since this store only got 4 of them.  I had my copy preordered since the first day and the manager said my figure was secure, but I wasn't chancing it.

Last one before that was for Halo 3.  I was going to go to Gamestop, but the line was wrapped around the building.  I went to Walmart across the street, which had two lines - one for the vanilla version (line snaked through electronics) and one for the $65 LE (two people in that line).  Guess which version I chose?  I was back in my car at 12:03, while the line at Gamestop didn't even look like it moved.

No idea what crap CoD giveaways involve, but I quite liked the artbook I got from last week's Halo launch, and the bag was pretty nice as well.

Did your store not have the mask as well? It was ginormous (I wonder who's head they molded that mask for)

Going by Halo's midnight launch, I think Best Buy might be picking up especially with GCU. Their lines aren't anything like Gamestop but it's was still a wait. (Two counters open for online orders and store orders and there was 10 people working the floor but they were gossiping by the front door >_> )

I planned on hitting up the local Gamestop early for the typical tournament they hold and hopefully some free swag before hopping over to Best Buy.

It did, I got the Locke one, but it's a random piece of plastic, where as the book and bag were actually nice.

Tempted to grab the 12 month PSN with COD3 to save another $10, but I know there probably will be some BF deals on it.
You would think but i remember last year there wasn't any PSN or Microsoft Account deals which really sucked! Here's hoping that's not the case this year! I can't remember do PSN memberships stack?

Ya, the last deal sony had on ps plus was when they announced you needed it for multiplayer on ps4( was a pr move to soften the change) Sony is making a killing off of ps plus so dont expect it to reach 30 again unless theres a pricing error. 40 is best your going to get. Yes, you can stack up to 10 years, i bought 8 during the special 30 sale.

normally yes, but they have had problems with their systems for release nights so you might have to buy another copy and return it later when you pickup your actual order

Correct. It took me half an hour to get Halo 5. One guy had to do the two-game solution. Some stores resorted to taking down pickups on paper so customers got their games.

Wow. Thought it was just my store.. yes the midnight release sucked at bb for halo 5 because of system issues but the goodies were good.

Was debating going to BB for the Fallout midnight release. I have the Pipboy on preorder for shipping but I wouldn't mind seeing if they have anything to give out. Between Fallout4 and Tomb Raider, you'd think there'd be something. My BB is about 45 minutes away though.

For some reason I have an itch to play the nuketown map. I played it on the original Blops back in the day but I haven't owned that game in years. The stupid thing is I am getting Battlefront in two weeks so buying to FPS's doesn't make sense.

lol I got halo 5, and i'm getting blops3 and battlefront as well. Gotta put that elite controller to good use.

Also, playing multiplayer games at launch is nice while the community is learning the game together, instead of down the road when people have the maps memorized and better unlocks.

This is why COD will never die, people go on and on about how they're sick of the franchise but end up buying it on release like everyone else every year. Its a vicious cycle!

Same, although I dont have the elite yet.

It happens every year for me..... and this is happening to me as well this year. But I do recognize it is a trap. But I still apparently hate myself and am willing to give it a try
You've given me a great idea for a new business that I'm sure Hubert will want to invest in. When you're tempted to buy something you know you shouldn't you come and enlist my services. Then you sign a contact that you won't buy whatever it is for either a certain period of time or above a certain price point and pay a fee that is prohibitive enough to discourage you from doing otherwise. You break the contract and buy the item you lose the entire fee, but if you persevere and resist then you get the fee returned to you minus a nominal service fee.

And because 12 million people are still playing BLOPS 2 apparently.

I'd buy CoD but I'm burned out on it after the last couple years. I don't play COD MP nearly enough to warrant its purchase. I do like the Zombies mode though, that shit is always a blast.

You do it because you pre-order, get the game, hate it, trade it in, get the reward cert, and put the TiV on Battlefront. You make money on GCU+reward cert games that you trade quickly ($48 + tax to buy, $44 + $10 rewards back).

Call of Duty is the king of casual gamers.
Odd, I always felt GTA was, but I suppose it's an either/or.

its worth pre ordering COD with GCU, pay $48+tax, get $10 back, trade in for $35-44 in the first month.  after mid dec though the TIV tanks

good timing too, can play this weekend, finish the SP campaign (prob 8-10 hours), play a dozen MP games, and then trade in late next week after Fallout 4

Do the Fridge edition of Blops 3 and the Pipboy edition of Fallout 4 come with the $10 pre-order bonus?
Sure hope so though I just checked the page for my FO pre-order and it doesn't have the little banner. Could be they just didn't bother updating it since it was long sold out by the time they added it to the promo.

I've got my BO3 preordered.  I enjoyed the Beta, I prefer smaller maps that COD usually has compared to the bigger BF style maps.  My Best Buy did have a new touch screen preorder system in their games section that was pretty neat.  You pick your game out then it prints you a receipt to take to a cashier to place the preorder.

I am thinking of preordering Fallout 4, does anyone know when I need to make my decision by to make sure I get the game on the release day? Also is there anyway to do in-store pickup instead? If so, I can't seem to locate it on the webpage.

Thanks

Is it a completely new revamp of the old touch screen or did your finally just get the touch screen lol. The stores in NYC had those machines for a couple years already. Half the time end up jammed up and not printing anything or just plain did not work.

I got COD: AW last year for a friend so he could get the GCU discount. We went up to the midnight release and I ended up picking up a copy of the game for myself. That fucking thing is still sealed lol.

As someone that makes a lot of gaming purchases at BB. I really need to start doing the price adjustments. I've been Elite Plus for over a year now, and will have it next year too, but I've never done a post purchase price adjustment. I normally always get the games shipped to me. So for me to do an adjustment I just need to call right? I remember a lot of people had issues getting the right amount back do to GCU, is this still the case? Or have they finally spread the right info enough?
