Can someone please answer this for me please, would this bestbuy gamers club benefit someone who doesnt have a best buy near them?
The closest best buy to me is about 2 hours away. I still see a ton of benefit from GCU. If you preorder more than 2 games in 2 years, that alone pays for it and they all have free release day shipping. Best Buy's normal free shipping (order of $35+) isn't that great, but if you don't mind packages sometimes taking a week or so to arrive, its still a great value.

E3 you noob. Every year the bulk comes around E3 with the exception of a few that come afterwards.
...Yeah... I've been a member to this site longer than you have so....yeah... So no need to be douche.

Anyways it's still odd there is nothing between now and June other than Division and Battleborn (which has been on the list for a while). My post was just pondering about waiting till then and using a different format until more games are announced since there's little point in getting any new games from them if my sub does expire and just renew in June etc.

Was hoping they would've added a couple games for the in-between. Would have thought Far Cry and PVZ:GW2 would of gotten the cert treatment. PVZ:GW got one and it was only $40 at release.

I'm sure they're going to add more during/after E3.

BB deosnt need to do anything, GCU still comes out ahead of amazon in terms of pricing, plus their discount works on ALL games not just pre-orders. That being said a guy at my store said they are phasing out the pre-order certificates, you might see the COD's and Maddens added but thats it.

Actually they do. More people prefer Amazon over BBY.

Nah, a LOT of gamers have migrated over to Best Buy and GCU, Amazon is still playing catch up.

I don't about this, Abraham Lincoln told me last week that they were going to still do it for the foreseeable future...

The latest answer to a question if it's sticking around.

Thanks for being a Gamers Club Unlocked member! Thanks too for pre-ordering your games from Best Buy. Our "Get $10" promotion has been around in one form or another for a few years now, and it is very likely to continue in my estimation.

Having said that, we have no information at this time about any more titles that will be on the list. You can be sure, though, that as soon as we have any updates to provide you'll see them on our post here.

Thanks!

i can see why they are phasing out the preorder certif, with albert einsteins asking question everyday, like why is my certif not pending yet. and harassing bestbuy cs about it. i think there is a chance they just gonna replace it with $10-$15 gift card

Some user posts that he heard its being "phased out" and people are taking it as truth facts lol there's still plenty of time for games to be added.
Obviously its not a confirmation, Im just relaying what I was told. The writings on the wall though, I think we'll see a lot less games being added this year.

It's not official but Best Buy has leaked information to employees before going to the public. Remember the old Elite program? One of our cags dropped the news on us a few weeks in advance that they were going away from the 60 day return/PM program and changing it into two tiers. I was cautiously optimistic over the last month that we'd get another set of preorder promos but with the rumor mill circulating, I've downgraded my outlook to pessimistic now....

Honestly with 20% off at amazon id rather pre -order there over best buy if no cert. much easier to deal with amazon.
True, but the advantage with BestBuy is the 20% is forever on any new game in stead of, from pre-order to two weeks after release at Amazon.

I'd rather preorder at GameStop because they have exclusive DLC outfits sometimes. In all seriousness, I saw a 30 something dude that was bragging about having preordered 20 games in the last 6 months at GameStop to the cute cashier lady. She was like "we really appreciate your business." I love going up there and explaining I have GCU when they try to push preorders, and I either get a really asshole response, or the good old "but we have exclusive DLC," or my favorite, "don't tell anyone, but I use it too."

I preach Best Buy to my coworkers, just not to customers.

Well i mean, id get annoyed too if someone did that to me when im just trying to do my job.

I used to have to sell insurance plans at my old job. Like, that was my job, I'd get in trouble if I didn't. Whenever someone stopped me before I had a chance to go through my spiel about them, even if they were kinda rude about it, I'd thank them for not making me waste my time. We'd have a good laugh usually.

in all honesty the employee discount is a wash with gcu if your in a state that doesnt tax store credit.
Best Buy has a better rewards program and better weekly sales.

I have a few pre-orders at Gamestop because of my credit and the no sale tax.

I'll stick with Best Buy with or without pre-order certificates. Their rewards and PM policy are ace. $99 for one year of prime is not worth it to me since I dont shop there at all anymore. Plus Best Buy is within walking distant from me so I can get my game first thing in the morning instead of having to wait until the ups guy shows up.

It does but for alto of people I work with its about convenience. Its not worth the little extra savings to make an extra trip to Best Buy when they can just pick it up while they are at work.

I read that as you were telling other people shopping there about GCU while the employee was asking about pre-orders.

I don't push pre-orders, i just ask and if they arent interested i just let it go.

Oh, haha no I wouldn't disrespect a store like that. My issue is the super defensive GameStop employees that freak out when you don't preorder and ask you why all the time. I had a manager ask me point blank one time at a store I literally had never been to before in a super rude tone. I explained why I don't preorder, because of Best Buy GCU. He just scoffed and was like "yeah, then why are you trading games in here? I bet their used game selection is terrible!" I just shrugged and took my credit and left. Never went back there, dude was a prick haha.

I don't get why everyone is so quick to give up on Best Buy and jump on Amazon's bandwagon with the 20% off.  The only thing that I can see making a difference is lack of sales tax.  Doesn't effect me since I get charged tax at Amazon (along with many others) but apparently some states still don't.  The packaging is the same in my experience - they both mostly ship in bubble mailers.  Best Buy still gives 20% off all new games, not just preorders, and 10% off used games, among other things.  Amazon is only giving the 20% off preorders and newly released games.  Best Buy has their rewards program, that includes double bonus points on game purchases.  Amazon doesn't.  If you have a problem with a package from Best Buy website order, returns are easy - just bring it back to a retail store.  Amazon - you have to send it back in the mail and go through that return process.

And the most important thing, if Best Buy for some reason discontinues GCU you can be damn well sure Amazon will discontinue their 20% off game preorder program.  It's pretty clear to me Amazon finally realized how much business they were losing to Best Buy's GCU program so they finally decided to match it.  If Amazon doesn't have competition they have no incentive to match their competition.

Normally I just goto Gamestop with the kids, they enjoy getting used 360/wii games, so usually they're super cheap. A couple of times when asked if I wanted to preorder anything, I make the cashier look up release dates to 4 or 5 games, and then tell them "I'll hold off for now".

It did backfire on me once, the guy actually placed the preorder for a game. I think the $5 just went back into my credit.....then again I'm not real sure....

I will say, I just mentioned something the other day about Amazon starting to have lower prices on new releases to compete with GCU.

The Amazon program doesn't hold a candle to GCU. Preorder and new release only (va all games), no equivalent to the $10 cert program, no post-purchase price adjustment.

Anyone not getting free shipping at BB?

I went to order something and it's charging me for shipping. It's above $35 and I have GCU.

And release date delivery is now $14.99? Uh... wut.

Edit:

Wow, I think BB changed their policy. It used to be free shipping on items $35 and up, and that applied BEFORE the GCU discount. So, for example, if an item was $36 and GCU knocked it under, you'd still get free shipping. Doesn't look like this is the case anymore. Is this old news? I can't remember the last time I got charged for a pre-order delivery by them.
