If they phase out the $10 RZ cert altogether, it would suck because this thread would close and then where would people ask if/when more games will be added to the program???

You need to order a pack of pens or something as an add on and they will put it in a big box.

 
I don't see GCU going out since it still works for in-stock items, and accessories. Specifically amiibo lol, since they still get exclusives the amiibo stuff is probably a gold mine for them.

Amazon actually had a really great games program (unofficially) before, and you didnt even need prime. basically games were 48-60 new (depending on demand and hype) and had 5-10 amazon credits on pre-order. You could do a similar purchase/trade/purchase loop on amazon and break close to even (much like you could with the $10 RZ certs at BB.

That was only because Walmart was offering the same thing and Amazon was just matching Walmart deals and price.

This promotion is laughable as 1000 points at Gamestop is basically the equivelant of $1. I had to do a double-take when I first saw this thinking it said 10,000 and was like oooh they're actually competing for once, and then the realization hit in...

Amazon haven't been leading in sale prices for a few years now. Most of their sales/deals are matching some retailer whether it's Best Buy, Gamestop (yes, GS), Walmart, or some other retailer.

 
I remember Amazon used to have a $20 credit for most preorder's. Then Kmart had a similar promo with the Coupon Train of preorder coupons. Funny after they stopped that promo, they got out of the games business all together.

Yup. Those were the good ole days. Back then, Amazon wasn't charging taxes yet in most areas. $20 credit, free shipping, release day delivery, and no tax = no brainer. Take that $20 credit and roll it into the next game...rinse, repeat. Amazon had all my preorders. That was way before GCU I think.

Best Buy added Far Cry Primal to trade in, $35 TIV.  Looks like the old days of $40 TIVs for new games are pretty much gone, Division will probably be the one to see for confirmation of $35 being the new base.  Be interesting to see how long Primal holds at $35 too.

Also some very weird TIVs for next gen games.  Brothers, Metro Redux, and Rabbids Invasion are all $1 for PS4/Xbone.  Wonder if they are just going to focus in on high value new games.

p.s. don't buy Primal it kinda sucks.  Its Far Cry reskinned in stone age, which sounds fun until you find out the story is non existant and there are a million fucking camps to clear.  Its a pretty easy platinum though, I'm ~25 hours in, about 90% done, and only have like 4 trophies left (outside the story ones) to clean up for the plat.  No multiplayer/co-op in the game at all.

Tangential, but did anyone else's profile change to where it auto-issues certificates? I'm still elite plus and point banking isn't even listed as an option, even though it still says it in the benefits.

All I see is that I am banking points or that I can choose a dollar amount, I don't want to choose a dollar amount in case it removes the banking option for me as well.

its possible you may have lost elite status, elite runs from january 1st to march 1st and the website probably still isn't correctly showing things. I can still set point banking on the main rewards page of best buy

I just do mine in increments of 10 or 20, they are good for a year, so I know I will use them. Hate when I get to the store and forget to issue them.

I don't know, their stock went up a good deal from 2014-2015. Just when people thought BB was on the way out the door. I think GCU and these promotions have upped their game sales dramatically, and made them a top choice for new games over the likes of Gamestop, and right there with Amazon.

and they most likely have pulled away from the Targets and Walmarts of the world and left them in the dust with game sales.

 
Pity if they finish off this promotion. I might have Amazon credit but I'll probably still hold out on buying games from BBY for the Elite PMing and Black Friday deals.

Amazon Prime 20% only works for pre-order and games within the 2 week release date. So stacking the discount on top of sales is a no go which is why GCU is still safe for me.

 
Has anyone from the bestbuy pre order glitch from a while back needed to change their payment information? I had to change mine because a card was canceled, and now it looks like they're charging me twice for all the items that had already shipped, and at full price as well. I knew from reading before that I might be charged full price, but did not expect to be charged again for the shipped orders.

Did you check your card activity or did you just look at the order page? I suggest you check the card activity on your credit card's web page. If they all of a sudden charge you again for all of the products you already received, I'd be really surprised. Dispute the charges if you have to. For things that haven't shipped, you might be out of luck though.

For me, my credit card got upgraded to the chip card since I placed the order, but they still seem to accept the old card as well. I only have two remaining things from the glitch, The Division (shipping this weekend and already got charged the glitch price), and Quantum Break shipping next month.
