I replied back asking what is the definitive answer? Since the only reason the rep did not deny me earlier this week is because I showed her the thread... Which worries me, since if we can post purchase price match why would the archive my thread?
my guess is because people are stupid and kept making remarks like oh so I can price match this store and still get GCU off that and etc and weren't understanding a post best buy price match vs a normal competitor price match

So I picked up Driveclub and Alien Isolation on Tuesday, as well as Edge of Tomorrow. All 3 were separate orders and so far only the movie was charged or marked as picked up. Did I somehow escape with both games being free? (Which is great but I miss the preorder bonuses and either game would've put me over the Elite Plus amount.)

Since it looks like the Gift Card isn't a preorder bonus is there any reason to order The Evil Within ahead of launch? I'd rather use cash instead, but I won't be making a trip out until release day.

Just for the dlc bonus
Do you need to Pre-order for that though? Best Buy mentions it as being a Pre-order bonus, but they go on to say "Download code will be included in the game package" which makes it sound like you don't really need to Pre-order to receive it.

(Edit) Yeah I think it's one of those stupid situations where the code is in the game and you don't need to actually Pre-order it. Amazon and GameStop are both advertising the same DLC pack and both of them also mention the code is inside the games packaging.

Nice, I wasn't going to preorder because I needed to wait for a cert. Was sad that I wasn't going to be able to get it. Happy now. :)

OT: Anybody knows what it runs at on PS4/XB1? I usually don't care but survival horror is my fav type of game so I want the best one. If they're same then I'll just get XB1 version.

I imagine it should run better on the PS4, but they haven't said what the resolution for both consoles is at yet. Both of them run at 30fps and I don't believe that's a locked FPS.

A very reputable guy on GAF mentioned his friend was playing the Xbox One version and was "Very satisfied from a performance point of view" so I imagine it'll be great on either system.

and what strategy is that. buy gc, rinse, repeat?.
Nope, VGC --->Bluebird Amex--->VGC--->Bluebird Amex

Of course. You could always do what Enuf suggests for elite though, granted it's a long process.
Not really, say you need the full $3500 can be done in 1 day, 1 hr in-store & reflecting elite plus status in 2
weeks.

5 VGC`s for $1029.75($29.75 fees - 1000 base MBB/$20) cost $9.75 per $1,000. You need 17 VGC`s & the true cost is only ~$31 and that`s NOT including the 3x promo, Elite/Elite Plus or non BB CC promos/perks/offers.

17 x $205.95 = $3501.15 spent x 3 10503.45 base MBB. That`s 42 $5 certs earn or $210 and the gross fees from the VGC`s are $101.15(17x $5.95). So you pay $101.15 and end up with elite plus & $210 in certs $210-101.15 = +$108.85

Need $120 GCU ASAP, $120- $108.85 2 yr GCU for *$11.05.
Use the $210 to fully fund your 2 yr gaming budget via play n trade.
Getting a console/handheld that`s $210 + tax off a $400 PS4/XB1, free PSV or cheap/free 3DS/PS3/360. If BB sold the larger PSV memory cards that`s where I spend it.
$210 off a high end tablet/cell phone...endless

You do NOT get elite plus or 3x bonus points on visa gift card purchases, so beware of Enuf's math.  You do get base points ($1000 spent = 1000 points) so it mostly covers the fees, but it definitely will be a net loss so only do it for E+ if you are pretty close.

Also keep in mind when you burn reward zone points on purchases the E+ 25% bonus does not apply, so for example if you use a $45 RZ on a $48 new game, you are "paying" $3 and will only get 3 points and bonuses on that.  Elite plus is not all that great imo, only if you really ship all your games (store pickup is way better I find) and want the free expedited shipping.  The point bonus multiplier is just not that good, unless you plan on making a huge purchase (but why would you since their prices are terrible on most things).

Yeah, Elite plus is only great if you do a lot of shipping. I think Elite and Elite plus get the same early access anyways on deals.

Well, I guess extra 15 days to return as well.

If I even attempt to buy 17 GCs from my local BBY, they probably call the cops on me. We are talking about BBY here, not CeeVees.

I'm not sure this is viable anymore. I've tried at a couple of Walmarts and have been rejected. Also at one that did try it, the system wouldn't allow the VGC to "fund" the BB Amex. I also tried using the money center ATM and that didn't work either.

Has anyone been able to load BB Amex with the Visa GC's lately?

Also, unless something has changed, you can use the mover's coupon to discount the Visa GC's for a discount.

Hoping Little Big Planet 3 is added to the promo.  Going to preorder it with a $10 GC from Evil Within.  Also, on Evil Within, it already shipped!  Hopefully it arrives by release day!  Would have done store pick up, but the PC version is only shipping eligible.

Has something changed recently? I got elite plus almost entirely by buying visa gift cards in conjunction with points multiplier deals and the points on those purchases fully multiplied.

Imo the point multiplier is great. Not sure what you are referring to as being terrible prices...just price match elsewhere if that is the case.

My store said there is some limit to how many you can buy but I bought 10 $200 visa gift cards in one shot no prob and manager said that was fine. So I really wonder what that limit is?

Just get $100 Amex cards at Walmart. There's no fee for loading them currently.

I messaged the moderators in the BBY forums in regards to my Post Purchase price matching thread that disappeared below are there responses
Good morning,

It appears that we have received a definite response in-regards to the thread that you created and will be updating the Gamers Club Unlocked FAQ shortly. We archived the thread in-order to clear up any potential confusion. Please keep in mind that we reserve the right to delete or edit any posts when deemed necessary. With that being said, please check the forum periodically for an update.

Thank you!

and the 2nd response

Hello qualityman13,

I believe Derek may have already responded to you on this, but I just wanted to offer a quick response as well! A lot of the threads that spoke of price matching and using GCU had a lot of 'gray area' information, so we decided to archive them to clear up any confusion. After working with the GCU team directly, we've gotten to the point where we're at a definitive response on this, which is actually to the benefit of our customers! We'll be updating the FAQ soon, which is located here, so keep an eye out.

Thanks for being mindful of what's going on with past posts!

This is the response I got when I inquired about being denied on the price match in store

Madden 15 PM in store problem
From: Senior Social Media Specialist Bill-BBY Senior Social Media Specialist

Good Morning-

I can certainly understand your confusion. Since the inception of the Gamers Club Unlocked benefit of 20% off new games, it has always been that you couldn’t get a price match along with your 20% off new games.

However, because many of you are also Elite or Elite Plus customers, your return/exchange period often puts you in a position where you could simply return and rebuy the item at the lower price. Because of that, we generally here on the forums try to work around that to make less work for both the customer and for the store by processing those price matches as an exception. However, if you talk to a store or call in, they are going to go by the program rules, which is no price matches.

Since Brian wrote this post, we’ve asked for clarification on this and been told no price matching, which is why publicly and privately we’ve been referring customers to the FAQ.

In the interest of transparency, that’s not to say that we may still not make exceptions as needed, however, if they get out of hand, like they were at one point, we may have to shut them down again. I appreciate your discretion in not discussing this on the forums.

Thanks,

Bill

Keep in mind the coupon expires on 10/31 so there`s still 3 full weeks left, some people won`t have the funds all at once so 5 cards per week nets 15/17 & that`s assuming they've spent 0 all yr.
My advice is to buy 5 at the Apple/MS/Samsung area 1st thing in the store. Browse around then get a 2nd set of 5 at another "sponsered" area then leave put the bags in the car. Return a few minutes later get the last 5-7 at the front registers or when you pickup a game. I`ve done 10 at once no issues but I also had many other items mixed in that I was already purchasing.

Plan ahead with the upcoming Oct. game releases for in-store p/u then grab the VGC during the trips, it would also be wise to return/rebuy the games pay using the Amex. Assuming the 3x stacks w/VGC, you`ll earn that then use the amex to buy the upcoming games in Oct netting another 4x(3x + 2x GC) on the actual game purchase.

If you`re already EP the basic double dip will completely wash out the fees without any promo anyways. 1 VGC is 205.95 base MBB once converted that $200 earns 200 base MBB plus the 25% elite plus bonus. Unless there`s been a change you should earn 257 MBB per VGC or $5 cert meaning you`re completely even when you just spend $1 of the converted $200 on games if elite plus.

They are making it too hard.  Very simple language can distinguish between price matching another store and applying the GCU discount (which is no good and double dipping).....from price adjusting a Best Buy price within the return period and applying the GCU discount.

Yea that was the response I got from him when I asked about price matching best buys lower price and applying GCU

I believe we`ll see several updates to the FAQ right when the holiday policy goes into effect. They`ve been stating they want to "clean up/clear up" some recurring issues regarding gaming & policy.

With them realizing that a simple return/rebuy can overcome the price change and recently stating that non gaming software returns under the same 30-45 day window can result in unneeded open box items, I`m willing to give them a wary benefit of the doubt for now. They`ve been on a hot streak so lets hope for the best.

You cut out just enough words, labeling, and explanation in crucial spots that your posts become a nightmare every time. You start to string together a ton of numbers and math but not fully labeled and it's wild looking. There's abbreviations and no labeling of certain numbers that confuses me always.

And now it is even more baffling that I've seen these complicated post structures so many times from you because your post on the Best Buy forums about the return policy is totally comprehensible. Maybe it's just all that math you are typing that wears you out so you don't complete the information well, but it's strange that I just can't recall ever reading one of these huge formulas that seemed labeled to the point of full clarity.

Anyway, I think you made a great point on returns above. That is so clear that I'd be surprised if they don't allow your suggestion.

Just to update my situation trying to Post PM Metro Redux.

On Monday I called and spoke to 3 different reps. Two of them told me they needed to create a case and I would get the PM that way and one said to PM in store (which I cannot do since I ordered online). I have been Post PMing these games for a while now with no issues at all. Occasionally I would get someone really confused with GCU, but I would just call back and get someone else who would do the PM. It was pretty much hassle free and I would get my credit within minutes. I thought it was odd they needed to create a case and they said it would take between 24-48 hours to get my credit. I called them back today and was transferred 3 times. Finally I got someone and they said I was denied since I paid $39.99 originally. I explained that it was $49.99 and after GCU it came to $39.99. This week it is on sale for $39.99 and after GCU I can get it for $31.99. She just repeated back, "the game was purchased for $39.99 and is now on sale for $39.99 so BB will not Post PM." I explained to her that I can return the game, rebuy, and still get the $31.99 price. It didn't matter she wasn't budging. I asked to speak to a supervisor. She said she transferred me but after a lengthy hold, the call disconnected.

I PM'ed one of the mods on the unboxed forums and I am still awaiting a reply. They really need to straighten this out and put it in plain writing on the forum. It is extremely frustrating calling the customer support number and nobody having any idea what they are doing.

i think they might be adding it in writing to the price match policy but they said on the forum it to hold on and they working on updating the FAQ so it might just take some time for them to update the page

Yeah I did see that as well but it does not help me on PM'ing Metro right now haha. Half the reps on the phone don't even know what the unboxed forums are.

could be worst 2 weeks ago i tried to place a new order with a price match cause it was cheaper with the price match then GCU and the rep told me i wasn't allowed to price match since i was GCU and that i already get 20% off and i explained i know that but i don't want the 20% off price i want the price match price instead since it was cheaper and she wouldn't budge saying there nothing she can do since im GCU and that her supervisor told her not to so i ended up hanging up and calling back with much better luck the following time. it just ridiculous the hoops GCU members are having to jump through for the simplest of stuff

thats why i don't bother calling in for a PM, spending an hour every time to get back $8-10 isn't worth it to me.  Plus I traded in Metro already, hahaha.   Mine are even worse since I use the movers coupons so it all is a hot confusing mess, especially if you use RZ certs and the rep is like "but... you only paid $3 for the game!"  bitch it still cost me $45 in RZ certs thats not free money.

If you do call in I suggest not saying the word price match at ALL, instead use the phrase Price Protection.  Say the item you bought X days ago (less than 45) dropped in price and you want to get a price protection refund.  If you say price match they will look up their PM policies, and while all of us know what you mean it goes down a bad winding path for them.

Traded in SOM, great game but the story missions were pretty bland and it gets too easy after you upgrade. Gonna use the $44GC and $10 RWZ on COD.

Pretty much, I never call in when theres a PM opportunity. Spending an hour trying to explain the GCU discount + any RWZ certs you might have used is not worth it to me.

I agree with you but in the past all it took was a 5 minute call and I would get the credit. If it is going to be like my experience today, then I am done trying to PM.

So my whole gift card issue got even better. As I mentioned last Friday the guy was going to send me shadow of Mordor in place of the gift card I was supposed to be reissued but come this past Wednesday he never responded to my last message so I called the phone line again and the lady was able to reissue me a new gift card. I even got the your order has been placed email. The next morning I got another order placed email and when I opened it, it was for the game. The guy messaged me saying he sent the game and a $10 gift card since I missed out on the preorder bonus. I replied telling him I was actually able to get a new gift card and should I send the game back. He replied this morning saying to keep everything because of how long it took for all of this to get solved. I love best buy.

Just got back from BB which I was PM Madden 15. Learn that it easy to PM if you purchase game in-store. For online purchase (via pick-up). BB had to return the item than you re-purchase it for the lower price. This might also wipe out the $10 (500 GU points) from the pre-order game since it's a return\re-buy situation.

Did you use the $10 off from the trade-in promotion at first? I got denied because the receipt shows $39.99 after coupon and GCU.
