Nice! Worth a blind buy?
At that price, I'd say it's worth a blind buy if you like Knocked Up and movies like it.

Traded in 13 movies and got my 13 coupons. Picked up: forgetting Sarah Marshall ($5 w/movie cash), Ghostbusters ($5), Forest Gump ($5), Serenity ($5), Beetlejuice ($5), MIB ($10 w/movie cash), MIB2 ($10 w/movie cash), Harry Potter DH part 2 3D ($10), and Conan 3D ($12).

Under $70 with tax with 3 $10 movie tickets and a lot of digital copies. Yay!

So bummed. Forrest Gump rang up way higher than it was supposed to at my store. I have 5 coupons sitting at home and I might be doing another trade-in tomorrow. I think I'm addicted to the coupons, even though I have no idea what Blu-rays I want.
Do they take bundle dvds(from walmart) for the upgrade and save?
Has to be an original disc, with a case and cover art. Besides that, they won't care what it is.

The people at my store didn't even open the case to check the disc. I set my DVDs on the counter, she counted them, and handed me 5 coupons.

I thought 5 was the daily limit...
I thought 5 was the daily limit...
It is, though I have three BB stores within 6 miles of my house, plus one the same distance from work, so that's an easy limit to work around with multiple stores in the area.

Even with one store and spacing out visits, I don't think most stores would care nor notice.

It's 5 "per trip," so it's up for interpretation. You can go to multiple stores in a single day or it's YMMV whether you can go straight back to your car and grab five more/come back later in the day.

I just brought in 13 movies (five for me and five for my wife to turn in and a few just in case some got rejected) and the lady took them all and counted out the coupons. I was happy!

Anyone have any luck with turning stuff in with no cover art?

I have probably 10 DVDs in the case w/ no artwork sitting here wasting away

hey guys, quick question about the Forrest Gump bluray... is the cheaper one the sapphire version with the blue on the top of the cover art or the other one with the brownish title on the cover art?

Just print out some cover art. At first glance most will look normal.

The one wiTh the brownish slip
The one wiTh the brownish slip
Yeah but once you take off the 100 years of Universal Slip it is the Sapphire Edition case and BR set

My hauls thus far

For the adults:
- A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas (vanilla version) - $14.99
- Boondock Saints (Truth and Justice Edition) - $4.99
- Harold and Kumar White Castle/Guantanamo Bay (double-pack) - $9.99
- Iron Man - $9.99
- Iron Man 2 - $9.99
- Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol (BB Exclusive) - $14.99
- Source Code - $5.99
- The Thing (1982) - $4.99
- Wedding Crashers - $9.99

For the family:
- Gnomeo & Juliet - $12.99
- Madagascar - $9.99
- Madagascar 2 - $9.99
- Miracle - $4.99
- Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure - $4.99
- The Sorcerer's Apprentice - $9.99

With tax, I'm at a little over $150 out-of-pocket. I'm probably going to call it quits at this point, although Bridesmaids and Hangover II are mighty tempting.

I cant find the 9.99 version of Forest Gump at any of my stores and this like the third time I went and forgot to look for "The Thing". But in total I have got at least 30 movies total if you combine all the times they have did promo.
Anyone ever try to trade in a Blu-ray with this deal? I have a couple worthless Blus that I've been trying to get rid of.
I saw someone get their blu rejected the last time they did this, which seems like a stupid policy considering they could probably sell that for more money than the DVD equivalent.

I dont think they are re-selling the DVDs. I thought it was about helping to recycle and properly dispose of DVDs. Plus with all the people buying 1$ DVDs and trading them in I doubt they try to flip those crap movies.

I doubt BB would just trash all the DVD's they're getting. Even if a certain percentage are worthless, there's still enough to make thousands by selling them off to another company. I mean, just look at the third party company that Amazon has for their trade-ins. They give money for all kinds of stuff. Some as much as a few bucks each and some as low as .25. Compile 10,000 used DVD's though and even .25 each comes out to $2,500. If BB is just trashing them then no wonder they're doing so bad financially.

2 trips so far.

First trip (prices after coupon):

Conan the Destroyer $4.99
Conan the Barbarian $4.99
Boondock Saints $4.99
Billy Madison $4.99
Mad Men Season 3 $14.99 (missed out on getting this at target last week for the Buy 2 -$15..but got the other 3 seasons and Archer Season 2)

trip 2:

Batman Begins $4.99
Mission Impossible $4.99
MI2 $4.99
MI3 $4.99
MI: Ghost Protcol $14.99

still would like to get the Rocky movies and Happy Gilmore. was also eyeing the Jason Stathom blus for $7.99 each but didnt get any.

Did buy 5 of their $7.99 blu two packs though:

Across the Universe/Other Boleyn Girl
Sllent Hill/Ultraviolet
Groundhog's Day/So I married an Axe Murderer
Click/50 First Dates
The Grudge/Bram Stroker's Dracula

and ordered the Hancock/GhostRider 2 pack on bestbuy.com since they were sold out in store and used $5 rewards certificate. :)

22 blus for like $120 after taxes. Woot! Love Best Buy

It is kind of odd then, that they would call the receipt they give you with the coupon a recycling receipt.

Best Buy more then likely just recycles these just like the Warner Brothers similar dvd to blu mail in promotion. I dont see what else they would honestly do with all the dvds, especially if half the ones the get are crappy or dollar store dvds.

I used the coupon four times today. The cashier felt he had to tell me I saved $20.

Of course, that was nothing compared to the dozen employees who kept asking me if I was finding everything okay. Do they think I'm gonna steal something?
Do they think I'm gonna steal something?
Yes.

It's not personal, and they attempt to do it to everyone in the store. It also depends on where the numbers are for stolen products for said store. If its low, they pretty much leave you alone. If its high, the managers tell the employees to start making contact with anyone they can to help curb it.
It is kind of odd then, that they would call the receipt they give you with the coupon a recycling receipt.
I'm sure they want to give the impression that they're doing this all for the environment, but I don't think it guarantees they are. Just like how we have "eco" cases now that are supposedly designed to save plastic, but what it really means for the companies are cheaper produced cases and ultimately more $$$ in their pockets, all in the name of going green. Maybe I'm just being cynical, but I don't see these greedy companies doing things like that for the greater good. At least BB is benefiting from the sales they're getting from the upgrade, but I still think it would be a waste to just trash all of the dvd's.

edit: Plus if it was all about recycling the DVD's why do they need the original cover art?? You'd think if they were just going to trash it they wouldn't care about that.

edit2: Someone at Blu-ray.com said their dvd set was rejected because the bonus disc had scratches on it. Again, if they're being recycled why on earth does this matter??

It shouldn't matter. I was actually the one that asked if anyone had been rejected for scratched discs since I'd never seen them inspect the DVD, but others had and I was bringing in DVDs that were unplayable.

My fifth (or maybe it's only fourth) haul:

$7.99 The Big Lebowski Digi-Book (w/ DC and $10 FYE cash)
$9.99 Men in Black II (w/ UV DC and $10 MiB III cash)
$4.99 Spartacus 50th Anniversary

One more haul on Monday (seeing the Avengers then and BBY is across the street) for Bridesmaids, Silence of the Lambs, Apollo 13, and anything else I can find that I want for $5-7.

Went today and got:

Forrest Gump - $4.99 - So happy I finally found this! Last one too!
Black Sheep - $4.99
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children - $4.99

I'm running out of ideas, but I still have 7 coupons left just in case.

haul 3:

Rocky $4.99
Rocky II $4.99
Rocky III $4.99
Rocky IV $4.99
Happy Gilmore $4.99

Haul 4:

Memento $4.99
Psycho $4.99
Tekken $9.99

Was going to get Hellboy too..but after coupon it would have been $9.99 and Wal-Mart has it for $7.88 so got it there.

Probably done with this because I am running out of cheap titles to get/upgrade. Lot of $7.99 titles I was interested in...really wish those qualified.

Hellboy II is part of the J&R's 2 for $12 sale if you're interested.

The thing I hate most about these sales is that you go online, plot your purchases, and get to the store where they have nothing in-stock lol. I just always forget and assume if it's online, it's in the store. Wish I could take advantage of this more but after 5 BDs, I ran out of things I wanted. :(

Cool. It looks like Silence of the Lambs is supposed to be 9.99 next week. So I can finally pick it up for $5.
Been holding out for a long time.

There are so many $14.99 movies I'd get if they were just $5 cheaper. If only you could use two coupons on a single blu.

Well, my local best buy created a new game called, how long and how many employees does it take to find a fucking movie?

How Long?
Over an hour

How many Employees?
4 or so

Name of the movie
Clueless

The location of the movie
Warehouse

At least I finally got rid of all my duplicate DVDs, so far I bought The Matrix $10, The Ring $10, Wayne's World $5, Bram Stokers Dracula $5, Clueless $2 & Scre4m $10 (combo pack)

Anyone know if you can exchange a bluray for a movie of equal value if you changed your mind on one of your movies? There should be a new set of $9.99 movies come Sunday as well as Bridesmaids (combo pack) for $7.99 with upgrade coupon. Knew I shouldn't have traded so many of my movies so quickly.
