I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. Best Buy is putting a ton of slower-moving games on clearance starting Monday Sept. 12th. Prices ranged from .99-9.99, with most being 4.99, and included games for all systems.

FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.

Sorry if you said you had these, but theres no way someone that has a life can keep tract of this thread..im with most of the people here..this deal was pretty over-hyped since none of the stores had any of the games..to bad the list didnt include all Players Choice (20 dollar games) for like 5 bucks..oh well..if you have the games listed or any other cube games..shoot me an offer or give me an offer on my thread.
 
hah turns out this is the worst shopping spree for 5-10 games for most people, not to mention driving far and getting nowhere with that gas money!

Then again I read 1000wpm+ so it doesn't take me that long. I get slowed down by poorly spelled/punctuated posts though, they take concentration to puzzle out word-by-word.
 
those who do price adjustments watch your recepts... I guess online dont do adjustments for tax (no big deal since its only around 4 bucks)

I got YS and Growlancer last night 89.00 shipped after Price adjust 29.00

i put another order in when they popped back up this morning around 7 to trade

price shipping was like 25.40..... so i guess the 3.60 in tax dont get refund


not that big of a deal but if someone blew say 270 bucks last night that would be almost 12 bucks you losing out on...

You're right, tax dosen't get a refund... you are just refunded the difference for the games, and you just eat the loss on the tax.

It's pretty shifty, but after hearing alot of stories of people struggling to get their game price adjusted online, I feel lucky that mine went through so painlessly.

they said it did it automatic but i didnt see the credit until i called. It was very painless ,,, well beside sitting on hold listen to that awful music for 29 mins ... their phone lines are jammed

i need to get to sleep, only got 90 mins last night and i need to get up in 4 hours from now .... man
 
Went out to another best buy tonight, too my surprise, I grabbed a bunch of crap lol. Anyways I got, Dead to Rights, free after coupon.. Monsters Inc, free after coupon.. Tak2 for GC $5, Magic the Gathering Battlegrounds xbox $5, Ty Xbox $5....and earlier i also grabbed 2 copies of silent hill 4 and future tactics also for free after coupon.
 
Man, I'm bummed. BB didn't even have the games I was looking for...no mylars, no nothing. And it's all sold out on the website. Dagnabit!!

Where outside of Chicago are you? I'm in Naperville and had no luck finding Silent Hill 4 for the Xbox.

Oakbrook IL, I went to the Bestbuy down lake street, right by Dave and Busters, they were loaded with games, but there were about 5 other older guys with list in their hands trying to grab anything they could, they took all 4 copies of paper mario 2 :(( But if you would like I could send you a copy for what I paid plus shipping...hit me a pm.

..I didnt even check the website until now..weird I should have looked earlier..it really pisses me off now..I saw ALL the games there for the Gamecube atleast there..I just asked they said they wernt doing it..I might go back tomorrow (getting Mario Baseball and WWE anyway)give them something to shit about..

I just had to post and say, PLEASE, do file! I am tired of salespeople treating the collective us like crap because we're trying to get a good deal. It's not like we're even being pushy about it... we just want them to honor their prices and do their job!

I know how much it sucks to work retail, but still... sheesh.

I encourage everyone else to do they same if they've had trouble... I think I'm going to contact coporate and inquire about a few things myself...

Can anyone tell me if TMNT 2 or Godzilla are worth the $10 price tag? Kinda got mediocre reviews and I'm wondering if they're worth the plunge.

I ran by a local BB today when they opend and they had VERY little on the list of sale items. I was mainly looking for XBOX titles. I did snag a copy of Yager for $.99. Yeah, it was Yager, but, it was only $.99...lol. They only had like 3 other XBOX titles even on the list.

I left that BB and decided to hit another one not too far off. They had even fewer titles of the sale items, which had not even been marked down yet as the clerk was too busy talking to friends and taking forever to get the new price stickers out (in the words of Carlos Mencia...dee dee dee...lol).

I did snag another good deal today too. I got 4 MadCatz Dreamcast controllers for $.99 each at a couple of EB Games stores today. The just marked em down and I figured they would be good as backups. I like the MadCatz controllers because they have a programmable button feature (for those games that don't allow it in the game). And, they are bigger than the original DC controller (which bugs me because the knuckle on my middle finger hits the VMU slot area). I just find em more comfortable to use.
 
Backorder means it will never arrive, huh? DAMNIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why can't their inventory be correct. I never usually shop at best buy, at least in store, b/c the ppl there are total dickwads. Now, if I don't get at least 1/2 the shit I ordered, I think I will ban them from my xmas shopping, no matter how good the deal.
 
Went to the Best Buy at the Forum here in San Antonio-- nothing here except that Texas Hold'em Poker. I also learned today not to trust the Best Buy web site, since they're never accurate about stock being in the store. I asked a service rep to make sure the games I wanted were in stock, and he even saw the discrepancy between the BB website and their own database.
 
Best Buy in Westwood Village sucks. They made it so you had to buy a game at full price to get the clearance price (or more expensive).
 
Turtles 2 was an okay game. Probably not as good as the arcade game that comes on the disc. The camera is frustrating with more than one person. I say it is worth 10 for the arcade game though.
 
isn't that illegal? they can't FORCE you to buy anything like that if its not advertised in there paper...you should report them to corp for this.

Man I spent 45 minutes getting to best buy to find absoulutly nothing. I saw two other guys there looking intensley through the games too. All i could pick up was KillSwitch and Intellvision Lives. Most of the games on the list werent even marked down. I do say that the one in Gilroy, CA is rather gay.

Actually, when I was there, the guy I talked to asked some other guy about the sale and the second guy said "it's online only." I was like "It's in store too and everything's sold out online." And the guy said "well the games are deleted from the system." Eventually, that guy left and the guy I was talking to initially was like "I guess it's not here." I asked him to check anyway and we did and I ended up with a $5 copy of Y's. Persistence always wins.

I've heard the upcoming TMNT will include Turtles In Time!! Probably the same copyright issues, leading them to change stuff, but it's a nice extra for sure.

I love Godzilla:STE. I'm a big Kaiju fan (giant monster movies) so to play it out as a video game is a lot of fun. $10 for it is a great price. It's one of my favorite games on Xbox. Just don't expect it to be quite on par with the best fighting games out there. To play as Jet Jaguar, Godzilla, Anguiras, and the other monsters is really fun.
 
I put this on the trade thread but I figured I would put it here too. I also had no luck at my Best Buy and am looking for a copy of Growlanser or Y's. I have a sealed copy of Shadow Hearts as trade bait. PM me if interested.
 
I made out well today. Was able to return all of the games I bought yesterday and rebuy them with the new clearance prices and coupons. Some didn't ring up the prices listed earlier in the thread (i.e. Incredibles and Rocky Legends were $9.99 not $4.99) but overall I was lucky. I have an extra Y's and Growlanser if anyone wants to shoot me some tempting offers via PM...
 
If anyone got an extra paper mario for a fellow CAGer PM me, ill make it worth your while.

I had to work today and missed the sale unfortunately.

as I suspected, this 'sale' was a whole lot to do about nothing. Kinda like that pseudo circuit city second round $1.99 sale.

Lansing, Okemos, and Brighton, MI Best Buys had none of the listed games at the clearance prices. And between the 3 stores I visited I found at least a dozen titles from the "list" and the only success I had was in coinvincing 3 employees across this state that I am a loony bird.

Unfortunately, I have never come across a good sale at BB anywhere in the metro Detroit area. Best Buy really does suck around here.

I actually went there last night to check what they had, which was almost nothing, However, I still went in on the A.M(about 11) and all the same stuff was there, but they ALL rang up $9.99. So don't worry you didnt miss a damn thing... man I have always hated best buy, but they just seriously made my #@$% list.

I know them ... they did this on purpose...
 
Pfffff, almost midnight and they still string me along with this "InProcess" act.

My one "what the hell" item has shipped. Hopefully the higher priority stuff will come through.

Seriously, why can't this be more like EB's site. When a game is gone, it's GONE! There's the occasional glitch of course, but in general you'll know if a game is "really" out of stock.
