I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. Best Buy is putting a ton of slower-moving games on clearance starting Monday Sept. 12th. Prices ranged from .99-9.99, with most being 4.99, and included games for all systems.

FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.

Wonder if anyone else had any problems in ordering from the BB site. I got 3 games Sun. night/Mon. morning as soon as the prices changed on the site. My card was charged and 2 were in process of shipping while 1 was backordered. I'd been checking the status of the "in the process" games every day to see if it had changed. As of today its still "in process of shipping" (after 3 fucking days), but the wierd part is my money has been transferred back to my card as if my order was cancelled......................anyone else having any problems??

I vaguely remember seeing something, but can't seem to locate it using the search function. You're welcome to dive into each page of this 120 page thread. :p It really isn't more different than your post. Most titles were really $9.99 instead of $4.99 and you're just as fine without an official list. Most stores, if they have items, will have the price marked on their dividers and the BB.com store is currently a bust.

Yep. I haven't been billed yet for any items - even the 1 item that is supposedly being shipped to me. Also I haven't received any "your item is on backorder" emails. There are many people in the same boat. If I don't hear anything by this Saturday, I'll email customer service and inquire.

EDIT: Aw, fuck it, I emailed them today. I think if at least half of us got "on backorder" emails, you'd think the rest of us would get some notification, too!

WTF is up with these people saying "hoax" and "dead deal". HELLO, IT'S NOT DEAD for most of us! I got like 10x games. And I turned d I didn't get what I really wanted (Ys & Growlanser) but I got a big pile of games, I wasn't there when the doors opened, and as I wander in the stores I still see some stray $9.99 games (I got Otogi 2 last night at 7pm ish...Spyro for GC still in stock, stuff like NFL street or whatever still out there too).

Finally made it to the Best Buy in Coralville today, and I picked up Bloodrayne 2 (PS2) for 5 bucks after McD coupon and Mr. Driller DS for 10. They had another copy of each of those but everything else was cleared out -- most with no signs of ever being there. (Paper Mario 2 was OOS but the tag was still 49.99, Ys and Growlanser and 75% of the whole list didn't even have tags left).

This deal is NOT dead but if you haven't made it to BB keep your expectations low. Maybe you'll get lucky.

Just to continue the saga about my Tak 2 for GC that wasn't available for store pickup, then sent "free" to make up for the inconvenience, then of course backordered...

I went to the original store I had placed the in-store pickup at (Gaithersburg, MD), ie, the one where it was "not available" - they had 2 fucking copies sitting on the shelf! What the fuck is up with that? Anyway, bought it since I'll probably never see the online order. There's still one there if anyone wants to get it (I'm not going by there again). They also had several Xbox copies, but those rang up at $9.99. And they have Scooby Doo for GC for $4.99 (which is the max I'd pay for that :D). Nothing else of interest except perhaps a pile of Street Racing Syndicate for PS2 - which is $9.99, but of course only $4.99 after coupon.

You know what, I think people starting hiding games and it got lost in the shuffle.
The BB in my neighborhood had about 6-7 Growlansers for the longest time. During the first night of the sale you can see that store had it available for in store pick up but you can't do in-store pickup if the site says its out of stock.
Then there was that glicth where it went back in stock. After that the store availability said unavailable.

I went to the store the next morning at open and I found a Growlanser hidden behind a bunch of PS2 Greatest Hits game. Another CAG found one hidden behind about 30 copies of Halo Map Pack.

Lo and behold I got to BB yesterday and see a newley unearthed Growlanser on the shelf.

Theres probably 3 people, or 1 hoarder who didn't get their Growlansers b/c of that.

I found it. Post # 1984 on page 100 by johnnyle. He had a list link and it seemed more accurate to me. The one game that I bought - Freekstyle (for free after McD coupon) - was $4.99 and that matched the price on his list.

I have the same issue...except the money hasn't been transferred back to my BB CC yet. :bomb:

I guess it couldn't hurt to email/call the BB customer service line. I'd be curious if they give you a different response than what I'll receive. So far nothing yet.

on or around the 17th you will get an email saying they can not fill your order and push you on a 25 day Backorder notice... After those 25 days you will have to call if you Wish to be put on another 25 day backorder if you do not call they will automatic cancell it...... this is what happen last years clearnace and that will happen once again this year

Thanks cheapfrag - Once equipped with a proper list you can actually land some really good deals / steals. Along with my McDonald's coupons & PSP & PS2 $ 5.00 off coupon (from the PSP launch) I was able to get 6 games for totally free. I recommend to mix it up a bit by adding a small item like a pack of gum so that the cashiers won't be proned to call management to check if this is kosher ;)
Both coupons worked right away though without escalation even in multiples (obviously this may be YMMV)
Anyways - I proceeded to trade my finds in @ GameRush and now have some more games pre-ordered under the "Trade in 2 get Pre-Order for $ 29.99" deal.

Depends on the BB some have it in clearance bins and others dont even know themselves that the sale is going on.
 
I had a bunch of 'In Process' games change status today - I have none left. Everything shipped except my one copy of Yager, which is backordered.

Which poses an interesting question, were any of your "In process" games Ys or Growlanser?
 
I rechecked my local BB to see if they had any more games out, and I didn't see any. I believe they had some games from the list such as LOTR: Third Age, but it was still marked as $19.99 on a standing "cheaper Xbox games" rack. I didn't check to see if it really was for that price. The other BB I was at clearly included the marked down games with the prices on the tabs by each game. How can two stores so close be so different? Oh well.

Btw, no change in the status of my "in process" orders. Big surprise.

I had a Growlanser ship today on 9/16 and I know I ordered it after you (one of the only games I ordered after it went down in price).

My backorder says it is expected to ship on the 20th. So I think it is an automated system that is providing these dates. I would expect nothing. I believe that if they have not shipped it yet they are not going to.

Of my entire order, only FF I&II and Star Wars Starfighter went to (and remain on) backorder status a few days ago, everything else has now shipped out.

I'm just curious why some of us have received "on backorder" emails while some of us haven't. You'd think there'd be some consistency even when we're not receiving the product. :roll: And Star Wars: Starfighter is one of the games I have "in process."

Hopefully we'll find something soon. I'm itching to pick up Midway Arcade Treasures 2 (also one of my "in process" items) and it's roughly the same price on Half.com.

I received an email about the backorder of Growlanser & Ys, though also, with the "09/17" BS date we've all come to expect. :roll: Maybe they'll actually prove me wrong and ship those two games. And as said previously by another CAG, monkeys might fly out of my backside.
 
The BB in Denver sucked! They didnt have ANY games out at all. I went in two days, and called one. One person would say they heard something about it, the other would say yes it is here (this was a manager telling me this over the phone and to come on down). I go down there a second time and there is nothing he didnt know what I was talking about. Very disapointing
 
why is it everytime i order off best buy at least one of the packages get lost in the mail.... i ordered around 9 games in 5 different orders all 5 orders say they showed up at my local post office Yesterday ( 4 came 1 seems to be lost)

at least the major orders showed ( Y, glow, saturday night, Lord rings, Potter) the order that is lost is Pac man world 1, Pac man world 2/vs. MLb 2005, and The Midnight run/corvette pack)

Order status online and no emails yet. They usually come a day later after shipment, from what I've noticed.

3 of my items shipped: LOTR TTA, Spyro, and Tron! MGS: TS, MK: D se and SH4 remian on Backorder. But at least my status changed. No email notification however, but some news is better than no news!

The glue on the box flap was all dry and there was no evidence of any tearing on the other flap (which it should have been attached to).

I checked online. BB.com seems to send me emails days after status changes.
 
My Mortal Kombat and Silent Hill are both in process, too. I sent an email to their customer service asking 'em what's up, and I got a reply saying they got the email, but no real answer yet. :whistle2:/

I ordered it the second I found out the sale was online.
