CAGiversary!
I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. Best Buy is putting a ton of slower-moving games on clearance starting Monday Sept. 12th. Prices ranged from .99-9.99, with most being 4.99, and included games for all systems.

FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.

Just got this email concerning my Silent Hill 4 order:

"The item listed below is not yet available to be shipped. We expect to ship it from our distribution center within the next 25 days."

Not really looking good since it was already a clearance game.......

I just got in the mail The Incedibles, the only 1 shipped game of 7 that I ordered online. It shipped in a nice sealed envelope package. To this day my credit card has not been charged. All my other orders are still "in process."

I ordered The Third Age and Buu's Fury but they both came inside a bubble mailer. As you may have guessed the Buu's Fury box got crushed... I guess I can't complain for $5 but still

Does anyone remember if the regular Mech Assault 2 was 4.99 online and the Limited Edition version 9.99 online. I think all the product entries are gone off the website now, so there is no way for me to check.

I ordered the LE version for 9.99.

I received my still "In processing" order today and got the regular Mech Assault 2. My online order clearly says LE version, the included picking slip doesnt however.

I'm frustrated. Though I know there is little difference between the 2 versions.. If i overpaid by buying the LE and getting the regular... I gotta get it corrected. Either way, part of me thinks it was still a good deal.. it's just the principle of the thing....

Anyways.. did anyone else run into this situation? Was there a price difference in this online sale between the two?

These were ok deals with this clearance.. but my order status hasnt been right from the beginning.. so I'm not sure if I'll ever order through the bestbuy website again.... too much confusion.

Thanks in advance

So far, from what I've read, everyone here has encountered this. Me included. BTW, the non limited edition was never up on the site around the time of the clearence. Just the LE for $9.99.

Did my in-store pickup of Zoo Keeper, when I walked out I noticed it rang up for $9.99! Isn't it supposed to be $4.99? And if I go back, what do I point them too to prove that it is $4.99?

Thanks for replying so quick on what others have experienced too about Mech Assault LE versus regular.

I wonder what other folks are doing then. Is it worth the hassle of saying I got the wrong product (kinda difficult when the order still says in process of being fulfilled), or do you just consider a good deal nonetheless.

(Trying to calm down now.. 10 9 8 7..... ahhh)

When I saw that 10 games that I had ordered would be shipping in the same shipment, I thought, "Great, I'll get them in a box and won't have to worry about my PSX and GBA games being damaged".

Bzzzzt. I was wrong. They threw all 10 of my games in an oversized grey padded mailer that Best Buy and Wal-Mart seems to like to use. I paid $20 shipping for a flimsy barrior to my games? It's akin to tossing them in a very lightly padded garbage bag and shipping away.

After looking over everything, one PSX game is messed up along with a PS2 game and Xbox game. A GBA game is also sorta smashed. Of course there is no way to replace them in store or online. Nice.

For some reason they've took the liberty to ship single games that cost me $2 for shipping, in nice secure boxes.

I had the exact same thing happen. Ordered the "Limited Edition" and got the regular one. Since I could get it cheaper anyway with b2g1, I just returned it to best buy and picked up the LE version at a nearby EB Games.

I totally agree with you about the shipping. What a scam to charge so much and then ship them like that. I got my items. They were in a folded piece of what could be scrap cardboard. Luckily they survived the shipping process. But at 2 dollars per item... its ridiculous. I know the games are a good deal themselves... but the whole shipping aspect is the worst I've ever seen.. well that and the online order system which just doesnt seem to update.

I wasnt sure if we could return direct to the brick and mortar bestbuys. Thanks for confirming that. I think I'll mull that over. I suppose the two extra maps are multiplay specific... i'd probably end up just playing it solo anyways... but still 'its the principle.'

Yep. MechAssault LE was only $9.99. Btw, this weekend at K-Mart it is also $9.99 so in case you never got it at BB, I'd recommend checking out there, too. Here's the link for the thread: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65202. I do believe the game isn't the LE version, though.

I'm just pretending that the LE never existed in my fantasy world of a mind and keeping it because I still think it is a deal. Now, if they had the LE edition in store or online and they could swap it, I'd do that, but the chances of it being in stock are slim to none.

If you really don't want it, they should refund your shipping and pay for you to ship it back since it is the wrong product (your online order status is proof of the Limited Edition, as the full title is spelled out).

Um, I know it's hard to check out all the pages of the thread, but most of the games were really $9.99.

I know it's this late in the game, but can someone post on the FAQ section that the prices were really $9.99 for most games? Thanks.

I got my backorder E-mail today on the remaining 3 games in my order. I'm just going to go ahead and cancel the order.

I went to the BB in Sugarland, TX , but they didn't have a single thing. It's probably the worst BB when it comes to these deals!

Anyway, from there I shot back over to the BB in Pearland. Someone must have read my post last night, or they just had a rush because there wasn't nearly as much left. Anyway, I still picked up copies of Otogi 2, Chessmaster, Mega Man X - Command Mission, TY2, and the Incredibles.

I also grabbed 8 penny guides at TRU. Nothing like throwing a stack of guides up on the counter and getting change of a dime!

if you have XBL you don't need the LE version as the stuff available on the LE (the maps anyway) are free online so the normal version will be just fine.

I did see MechAssault 2 at my local K-Mart, so if you got hosed by the BB sale, check it out there before the end of Sunday. It should be $9.99. I picked up Midway Arcade Treasures 2 there for $9.99 since I didn't get it through BB. I actually saved money since I didn't have to pay for shipping. Nice!

hey, is this sale still going on? if the sale is secret and unnoficial, how do i then get the correct price on something if its the non-sale price? if i cant mention the sale. Anyone?

print the page of it from the website and they will price match it.. if they don't sorry it is very YMMV

and did you read the fucking original post? these are clearance items the "sale" is just a bunch of markdowns. and not all BB will be the same. as selection will also not be the same. i mean.. how could a sale be "secret and unofficial" if BB marked down games on its own free will... sorry.. but when i read that i just had to be like what the hell.

Anything on sale will ring up on sale - it is as simple as that. I have had no problem getting a few games, anyway, at the sale prices at a few different Best Buy's. And I took back Paper Mario, Mr Driller, and a Rocky that I bought last Sunday and had them all price adjusted down with no problem - thus the sale prices are in the system.

In other words, there's no need to mention the sale to an associate or clerk - why would you? Find the games in the list and buy them. Now, the only problem is that many of the games are really $9.99 and not $4.99. But you can make the PS2 games $4.99 with "the" coupon - and since it ISN'T an official clearance sale, they generally have no problem using the coupon on them (I had one clerk not let me get a $4.99 Scaler for free coupon - oh well, tough luck...). And some of the other games really are $4.99 (like PS2 Scaler, and Tak 2 and Harry Potter Azkaban for GC). The ones in the list marked $0.99 really are that price. I took an old receipt (about 28 days old) for a Crash N Burn and got $4 back from it :D.

I had my mom pick up Mr. Driller for me tonight. I expect to get some of my games in, if not all of them on Monday. I'm going to be pissed if they got smashed to hell.

Received a BO email for Ys and Growlanser, with the notorious "your item is not available to be shipped, we expect it to ship in the next 25 days" bullshit.

All of you shocked by this, raise your hand.

WHAT?!? :whistle2:o

I was gonna think of something amusing to put here to feign ignorance, but I'm too sleepy for that. Instead, I will just add myself to the list of those who don't plan on ever using BB.com.

Proof that BB's line of "first in, first out" is complete and absolute bullshit.

Since other CAGs who ordered after me have shipping notifications for Ys & Growlaser. Not that I blame them one bit, I blame BB.com for being a bunch of lying fucktards who can't even tell the truth to save their own lives.

In fact, if CAGs that ordered Ys & Growlanser after 2:17PM CT, 09/11/05, would be so kind as to PM me their order numbers, preferably more than a couple of hours past that point, I would like to give BB.com a wakeup call of gargantuan proportions. I'm frankly pissed beyond words at their handling of this issue, and I plan to take someone's hide as payment. Having order numbers from CAGs that had their orders shipped, and they ordered a decent amount of time after me, would give me some nice ammunition to hit them with.

Heh, anyone else think it'd be amusing (in a totally unfunny way) for Shrike to call up BB.com, with his order number, and the order number of someone who ordered, I dunno, 6-24 hours later and received the same items he didn't and find out what their explanation is?

Edit: Haha, hey, Shrike, you beat me to my own idea... makes me look silly when you edit your post while I'm replying.

Great minds think alike.

I know slidecage is one of them, and I'm sure he's not the only one. Preferably order #'s from people who ordered when the price dropped would be uber-helpful, since that would be 10 hour past when I ordered, give or take a few minutes.

I ordered Star Wars Starfighter before the price dropped. It's backordered.

I ordered the same game after the price dropped. It shipped.

Along with the games I posted earlier in this forum I have also scored copies of Scaler (PS2) and Monsters Inc. (PS2) for free after the McDonalds coupon. At my BB they still have 2 copies of Scaler and a copy of MLB 2005. I'm probably going to grab the only copy of Pinball Hall of Fame tomorrow. I've been putting this off because I wanted to get others first, but now I know it is .99 and there is no reason to delay anymore.

no need to apologize for being rude for no really good reason, i read the post. I know it's a "sale", but sales are usually advertised, and if the prices are markdown, it probably is temporary, it would be nice to know when they would go back up and if i could get anything more official just in case i ran into problems (the games i wanted arent even on their website at this point).

Where is this list i should print out then to show just in case? i mean, are you implying i print out the game list off here, because i dont think they'll look at it, or is there a lite on best buys website?

and also, i am curious how long these prices are going to be this way for too, nothing wrong with asking that either, and since i couldnt find anything official about it on best buys website i decided to ask here where it was posted.

i just wanted to have some sort of proof just in case, or least official verification from best buys website of the prices of the games i wanted (for when i went to the actual store), which happen to not be listed.

I have had conflicfts with the best buy i go to in the past, they do a lot of dumb crap, so the fact that i cant at least find the listings of the games online and no mention of the sale outside of CAG is not totally wierd for me.

well I just got my order of Mission Impossible 2 for PS2 and when I picked it up from the mail box I notice that its open and the contents are not there so I call BB and they say send us back what you recieved and we will give you a refund now I have to go to the post office and send it back what an hassle I hope I dont have to do this with my other orders cause that would suck btw anyone else have the same trouble or are my postman or BB all theives?

They have three large boxes of xbox clearance games at the costa Mesa BB, all priced at 10$

I remember Soul Caliber, Max Payne 2, IHRA Racing, TRON 2, THUG, TH3, DRIV3R, Rocky, and maybe 1 or two more. Funny thing is that I was there to pick up my online orderd TRON for 4.99, but they were selling it now for 10$
I ordered Star Wars Starfighter before the price dropped. It's backordered.

I ordered the same game after the price dropped. It shipped.
 I ordered it before the deal, too and never got it. I still haven't gotten any "back order" emails yet. I will be cancelling my order soon for the unshipped 6 items, but I'll give it a day or so. I feel better that I got Midway Arcade Treasures 2 (Xbox) at K-Mart yesterday for $10 - a whole $2.88 cheaper had I actually had gotten the item from BB.com's web site. Sweet.
maybe they have regional warehouses or something, i'm in new york and my stuff shipped from franklin park illinois
I'm in St. Louis, MO, and their stuff shipped from Franklin Park, IL as well.

Plus, the stuff hasn't made it here, and it's 300 miles north of me.

received my copies of LOK: Defiance and Mechassault 2. ... unfortunately I received the regular version instead of the LE just like others had posted. I'm trying to decide whether or not to return it and pick up the LE version B2G1 somehwere.
If I do so will Bestbuy refund my shipping? that's the only way it would be worth it.
Which poses an interesting question, were any of your "In process" games Ys or Growlanser?
Sorry, didn't see this until just now. Yes, one was Growlanser. I'll send you my order number via PM. I ordered about 2AM ET on the 12th.
Excellent idea. If anyone has also received the Xbox games including Bard's Tale, Starfighter, MK:KE, and Chessmaster who ordered after 11:30pm EST on September 11th, if you could email me your BB.com order number, that would be appreciated. I'd like to let those SOBs know that they screwed up.

Incidentally, their Online Customer Service has yet to have gotten back to me about my order question. I'm going to give them a day or so since I asked them on Friday and they may be "off duty" over the weekend.

Since your order says LE version and you didn't receive it, they should certainly refund your shipping (wrong item is one of the clauses)

IMHO, they're always "off duty", though I recommend calling during 9A-5P CT, during the week, as it seems the best time to get the better class of reps and the ones whose first language is English.
i just wanted to have some sort of proof just in case, or least official verification from best buys website of the prices of the games i wanted (for when i went to the actual store), which happen to not be listed.

The problem is that most, if not all, of the pages for the sale games have been pulled from the BB site because they are sold out. You could have gotten the pages the first day of the sale, but no more. There is no "official verification" other than that. But like I said, the prices are in the computer and seem to have rung up consistently at every Best Buy.

I went in yesterday and had NO problem doing price adjustments on the games I bought last Sunday (thus providing some more proof that the prices are in the system and still good). Didn't bother dragging all the games in either. I even found another receipt with a couple of PS2 Rocky's I bought for trade-in purposes. Got $8 back from that! Thanks Kerig for the tip about not needing the games!
