CAGiversary!
I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.
I want new deals from EB. I want to buy great games for less!! Hahaha, just wanted to rant since this BB deal has gone on for a while now. :booty:
"Say it ain't soooo,owowooooooo."
Shrike,

Damn good repsonse - you are in exactly the same situation I am in. I can't get a BB rep on the phone who knows WTF they're talking about to save my life.
The end-line reps are useless. Some of the supervisors are also useless. They just spout out the same lines of crap over and over and don't think about what they're saying. Which is sad. :bomb: I fired that email at them to get their attention.
Shrike,

I love how the customer service people never answer your questions. What BS.

Maybe the Better Business Bureau will help?

I think you really need 60 minutes to do a story on how Best Buy does not fulfill it's orders correctly.
If enough people bitch enough, I'm sure they will get involved. :D
Reading my last post I realize I should probably just call my credit card company and refuse payment.

Thoughts?
I would, since they've pretty much fucked things up. Certainly would get BB's attention on that situtation, which might bring some action on getting this resolved.
Reading my last post I realize I should probably just call my credit card company and refuse payment.

I would wait the 15 days before refusing payment. I just received 2 of my games on Saturday afternoon.
I tell the CS rep that my order, that shipped on the 11th, still hasn't arrived - I also inquire about the status of my price adjustment. She tells me, in broken English, that I will have to do my Price Adjustment in-store because they can't confirm the reduced prices at HQ. No shit - they are too inept to do it over the phone that I have to go in the store and do it myself. Whatever - If that's what they need me to do, then so be it.
I'm very surpised that they don't have SKU numbers for the items readily available from their CS counter. :???: Then again, lately, I'm not that surprised at all by the mix-ups we've been seeing. I hope my battle for a price adjustment isn't this horrid. Oh, who am I kidding?

4 games arrived today . . . all ordered on Sunday before the prices dropped (and when I thought they would be $4.99).

Silent Hill 4
Spyro
Twinsanity
Astroboy GBA

All were in a padded envelope and surprisingly Astroboy was not crushed.

Now to try to return them and rebuy them tomorrow.

Please report back if you don't mind. The lousy phone rep told me a week ago my prices would be adjusted and they never were, and an email has also turned up no results. So I'm going to have to do the same thing once they arrive.

And I just got billed for my items too - at full price. This is after I spoke with the ubiquitous "Meg" on Monday 9/12 morning who guaranteed that my price would be adjusted when the final bill came out. Why am I not surprised?

watch the worker say YOU cant do that so they can buy them out from under you
watch the worker say YOU cant do that so they can buy them out from under you
That would definitely top off the experience :)

I have some cover . . . I have a BB gift card with $50 on it (came from a rebate when I signed up for Roadrunner) and I'm going to say I want return the games on my credit card and buy them on the giftcard . . . I will report the results.

BTW, I never heard anything about price adjustments from "the research team" either.
Just got Mortal Kombat and Growlanser in the mail, a small box too :D
Update - after I typed up my seemingly daily email to BB.com's CS to let them know about my promised price adjustment, I discovered that I had received my order in a large box and it amazingly correctly contained my order including Starfighter and MK:KE. Now I will wait a day to see if they actually follow through with their online price guarantee as they verbally promised me last week and as how I specified in today's email to them. I don't have much hope that they'll follow through, but it's definitely worth a try.

If they refuse to honor it, I'll try a couple BB stores in my area over the weekend, but if not, they're all being returned and I'm all the wiser from the experience. I'm sure all these games will be dirt cheap in the future and I can pick them up then. Besides, I already own way too many games and not enough time in the day to play them.
I feel your pain brother.
Btw, the USPS tracking number never worked and I already have the items on hand. Hopefully your items aren't truly lost.

Just got my shipment of LOTR: Third Age, Tron 2.0 and Spyro. USPS still hasn't updated.
Just got my shipment of LOTR: Third Age, Tron 2.0 and Spyro. USPS still hasn't updated.
Btw, I called my local Great Northern BB and Brooklyn BB and inquired what the price point was on several of my SKUs on my order and they came up with the discounted price. Naturally, the items weren't in stock, but the prices were in their system. If I don't hear from online CS by Thursday afternoon, I'm going to see about getting this corrected in person at the store.

I should note that according to their web site they may not honor the price adjustment in store since they state:

Exclusions:
The Best Buy Price Guarantee does not apply to competitors' free offers, limited quantity items, open-box, clearance or closeout products, mail-in incentives, financing or bundle offers.

Since the items were on clearance, it may not count. We'll see. If it doesn't work at one store, I'll try another and if not, I'll just return the games.

My sentiments exactly. Although I may go the "I'd like to return these games and buy them with this gift card" route.

That way it doesn't look like I'm trying to do a PA.

But, in order to do that, I'll need my freaking games.

This is exactly my standpoint . . . in fact, I'm just going to return Spyro entirely (eat the $2 shipping because $10 was more than I was ever willing to pay).

I'm going to try now at only one store and will likely report later this afternoon.

Ah, looks like I finally got billed for my remaining 2 items. Guess I'll try returning my extra BloodRayne now. Do you have to eat the shipping cost if they don't like your reason for returning it? Or is that only an issue if you decide to mail it (as opposed to doing the return in-store)?

Unless they shipped the wrong product, the shipping cost is your responsibility.

Alright . . . imagine a valley-girl voice . . .

Oh My God! that took forever!

It did take me about 25 mins. There was something screwy with the way their computer was working. 2 seemingly experience clerks locked into it with the system . . . I don't know why.

I had four games but only three would cooperate . . . anyway, she ended up returning those three and then the fourth separate. The 3 came out with credit for shipping! (YMMV :)) and then the last one didn't credit shipping . . . I didn't question it because I just wanted to get going. Plus, I expected to be out the whole $8 of shipping charge!

I then repurchased 3 of them (skipped Spyro) at the lower prices with my giftcard credit (and used my Reward Zone card).

Got back $90.31 on my credit card (only out $1.99 shipping) and bought SH4, Astro Boy, Twinsanity for $26.24 (tax included).

Went over to pick up We Love Katamari at EBGames (I had transferred over a Ndog preorder . . . so, less than $15 out of pocket) and the clerk let me have one of the Ninja Gaiden Black t-shirts without preordering or even buying the game.

So, a cool day!
Unless they shipped the wrong product, the shipping cost is your responsibility.
Ah, in that case it sounds like some smooth-talkin' is in order. I'll play up the fact that it was technically the same order that had the lost/stolen Pac Man World. Maybe if I'm lucky they'll just lump both of them together and refund the shipping for each item.

I just got Rocky delivered which I ordered on Friday night, yet almost everything I ordered on Monday last week still isn't delivered. Another example of how great Best Buy's shipping is.

Wow - great to hear. They even credited 3 of the 4 items' shipping? Nice! Sounds like an excellent deal. Hopefully mine will have a similiar experience in a few days.

I would assume it's partially because the items are in different warehouses across the US. Sometimes stores also depend on other vendors to house the items. Hopefully this is the reason why. I know Amazon.com depends on book vendors like Baker & Taylor to house their items.

According to the USPS, the box with my games arrived today, though as my local PO is on a "don't jam it into my mailbox, you fuckers" order, they left me a delivery notice about the games. So, after all this long saga, I'll have 'em tomorrow morning.

Anyone else besides me think they'll be fucked up beyond recognition?

I looked and you're right, Rocky shipped from OH, the other games shipped from IL.

People who are getting these items price adjusted in store, what price were you charged, and what price are you getting them adjusted to? schultzed, in particular. When I was picking up the games in store, most were $9.99, and I'm wondering if you're getting them to adjust them to the originally believed $4.99 (that is what they were originally showing up as on the website, I think)?

I had them adjusted from $19.99 to $9.99 for Astro Boy and Twinsanity and from $19.99 to $4.99 for SH4.

I didn't ask about or push for $4.99 as some have said was available . . . I just accepted the prices in the computer. The website never showed $4.99 for AB and TS.

Different warehouses but there is also the chaotic nature of shipping to begin with.

For USPS, media mail is generally handled last . . . so, with high volume, it can be continually left behind at each stage. Other times it may just make it into each stage and get delivered as fast as priority mail.

No a couple people decided to buy the games at full price to get in on the deal before everyone else. Then they went to a Best Buy store and asked for a price match or return not sure... and it appears that Best Buy is granting it.

And I bought games off the website that, as it turned out, my store didn't have. I actually got most of what I wanted between the two paths. Mr. Driller and Otogi 2 I found instore but they didn't have Astro Boy or SH4 which I ordered before the price change.

I did try to get the prices adjusted via a phone call but I never received anything from the "research team."

Ahh, well, that explains it. I swear I've read at least 90% of the posts in this thread, and was still a bit confused, LOL.

Depends on how many are in a single shipment. I've had 10 games dumped in a super oversized bubble mailer and they were loosey goosey with no security and there was some serious damage. It was like it was dumped in a garbage bag or pillow case and they decided to ship it that way. Media Mail isn't exactly the gentlest method, either.

The rest of my shipments were 4 or less and the packing was pretty secure. However, one cardboard package they didn't tape on one end...they just folded the cardboard and sent it on it's way...luckily nothing fell out.

Charge me all you want for shipping, but at least make it secure. :bomb:

Got my shipment today - ten games... walked into the local BB and tried the old "put these games on this Gift Card" routine ..... and ..... it worked!

I had to return, then buy the games back. No big deal. Finally can rest easy on this one.

Excellent. Glad to hear you finally got the games that were thought to be lost and got the price adjustment. I'll post what happens to me in the next few days. Hopefully it should be the same somewhat pleasant experience.

Btw, did you guys bring in all the games to the store or just the packing slips with the SKUs? Thanks.

I figured as much. Thanks. This helps. I forgot that I did this last month too with a video camera I bought. The day after I purchased it, it was $50 cheaper and I brought it in and "returned" it for them to re-ring it up. I'm going to stop by my local BB in the morning and get this sorted out/finished.

I picked up my games from the PO today. Shockingly, none of them were fucked up in shipment.

They packed mine in an oversized plastic :)shock:) bubble mailer, double-folded on one side, with the games sitting at the bottom of it. All four of them survived the trip, including Astro Boy :)shock: ), not a problem with any of them. I also have the credits on my credit card, though they're not what they promised me, so it's another phone call to get that straightened out.

Not surprisingly, no sign of any info on Ys or Growlanser. Nor any answer to why my items didn't ship. Time to hammer that point home with them today on the phone.

I got an unsealed box too, and I remember at least one other poster complaining about the same thing. And my game DID fall out.

Glad to hear you got some of your stuff packed well. Hopefully you'll get it all straightened out over the phone.

Well for me, all I have to say is: "It Is Finished!"

I stopped by the Great Northern BB and was helped by a very pleasant and cute blonde female employee who gladly returned the items at full price and rerung them up at the clearance price. She was amazed at the prices. I did have to eat the shipping costs, but it was taken care of with a BB gift card. So, after almost two weeks, I now can say I own Chessmaster, Incredibles, Bard's Tale, Star Wars: Starfighter, Simpsons Road Rage, Mortal Kombat: Kollector's Edition, and Spyro: A Hero's Tail from ordering them online on Sunday September 11th for around $42 after a gift card. Not bad at all. I also picked up in-store Otogi 2, Yager, and Magic: the Gathering Battlegrounds. I returned Midway Arcade Treasures 2 since I had also picked it up over the weekend at K-Mart for $10.

What do you mean you had to eat shipping costs? You ordered the game on the website..so of course you have to pay for shipping. Why would they refund your shipping for you to rebuy the games at clearance?

How many people have done the return and rebuy option? Did you get the shipping charge back or not?

I got shipping back on 3 of my 4 games (as I posted) but decided not to complain about the $2 on one game because I wasn't expecting shipping back.

In case anyone is wondering, the sale is over. Any items from the list that may still be in stock (very few) no longer ring up at clearance prices.

I had them ring up an Eyetoy for me, and it came up $29.99, then the employee told me that sale had ended at the end of last week.

I totally missed it, weaksauce.

Not a sale. A price drop. It looks like they will not be getting any more inventory of those particular titles. The Eye Toy must have been YMMV because even the same day the prices took effect, I couldn't find an Eye Toy going for $10, whereas I got quite a few $5 games.

Hey, bb.com is showing they have the $.99 PS2 Rocky in stock.

Might have been the wrong Eyetoy. There were two versions.

Um, because if you read the post by Schultzed, he mentioned that he had his shipping refunded for some of his items. I was just stating that mine was not. I fully expected to pay for it. I also returned and rebought the items. Sheesh.
