CAGiversary!
I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.

I went to the elyria, ohio store today and picked up mr. driller 9.99, bloodrayne 2 ps2 9.99, gt4 guide .01, forza guide .01 and 2 ps2 retrocon controllers 4.99 each. They still have 3 forza guides and a fight night round 2 guide.

Should've used coup on Bloodrayne 2.
In case anyone is wondering, the sale is over. Any items from the list that may still be in stock (very few) no longer ring up at clearance prices.

I had them ring up an Eyetoy for me, and it came up $29.99, then the employee told me that sale had ended at the end of last week.

I totally missed it, weaksauce.
Nope, sale is not over. You just looked at the wrong EyeToy product.
Um, because if you read the post by Schultzed, he mentioned that he had his shipping refunded for some of his items. I was just stating that mine was not. I fully expected to pay for it. I also returned and rebought the items. Sheesh.
And I think I just got lucky (like I said, I also picked up the Ninja Gaiden Black tshirt for free later in the day). I'm hoping the "research team" at BB keeps its head of its ass and ends up refunding the difference on my games (which have already been returned). LOL not counting on it, but it would be funny if they did.

Yes, I had shipping refunded in-store too - to the tune of about 20 bucks.

That's good to hear. It's strange that some people are and some aren't, but my BB gift card took care of the shipping, so I'm not worried about it and I'm happy with the price I paid for all the games I got.

I don't believe there is a research team. And if there was a research team would they really be spending their time giving refunds?

I must agree that is good for you. But I'm not sure that is good to hear. If Best Buy is that incompentent they will not remain in business. Their computer software should not refund shipping that's just bad business.

No, its the quote/unquote "research team." This is the mysterious division that many of us were told, BUY BEST BUY, that would look into our price adjustments when the games dropped in price after our order was placed.

Its a joke . . . like BBs website operation. I was told that they would look into adjusting my prices. I was told I would receive an email . . . never did.

Its the hypothetical unit that the CSRs can refer to to get customers off their back. I wish I had one of those at work, and we don't even have bothersome customers.

After ordering my games on the Sunday before the sale, I finally received them yesterday and adjusted the price today. Shipping was still tacked on, but the adjustment was done without issue. What I got...

Mechassault 2 (reg edition, boo)
Mortal Kombat: Deception LE
Chessmaster
Crash Nitro Kart
Pinball
Silent Hill 4
Return to Castle Wolfenstein
SW: Starfighter
Goldeneye: RA

 Sweet. Glad it worked out for you, too. If anyone's having problems doing this, please post. Enjoy playing your new games.

Thanks! I forgot to mention that the employee that I originally talked to on Sunday mistakenly said that it would only last one week (the post is way way back in this thread). I did it anyway because I figured she was wrong. If anyone is still waiting on their games, I would suggest that when you bring them in, ask to return and re-buy, not a price adjustment. There might be a policy against pricematching BB.com, so they need to be aware that the new prices are still in the in-store system.

I did that, too, by calling my local BBs and asking if they had a specific item in by using the SKU number off the order. They were able to tell me the actual price for the item even though they didn't have it in stock. Even the Brooklyn BB by me that didn't have any games on clearance, still had the SKUs with the correct price for the games in their system.

I actually found the Midnight Club/Corvette 2-pack at a Best Buy today. I've never seen it there before. Marked $19.99, rang up $4.99, came out *free* after the coupon. Not sure what I'll do with these games, but the price is hard to beat.

I thought I had also found that Tarzan GBA game (that is $0.99 in the OP) but it turns out it was retagged as an "endcap" game and rang up $9.99. I bought it anyway as "cover" for the free games. I'll return it tomorrow :D.

Just heads up that these things are *still* out there, and, except where they have been retagged, still at the clearance prices.

I was kinda curious, as TMNT2 (which had been remarked at $9.99 when the clearance started) was marked back up to 19.99. Was considering getting it now that I found a PriceGrabber rebate for it. $5 is much more palatable than $10 for that game, when apparently the TMNT2 NES game included is the best part.

I thought it was a port of the arcade game? That's definitely worth $5.
I thought it was a port of the arcade game? That's definitely worth $5.
Well, TMNT2 NES was TMNT2: The Arcade Game. So it just depends on if they ported the arcade game or they ported the NES game which was a port of the arcade game.

The one on BattleNexus is a port of the actual arcade game, not the NES conversion of the arcade game (which was interesting in its own way since they added some new levels).

I got 2 Rocky's in the mail yesterday one I placed on the 12th and the second on the 16th.

I did the one on the 16th as a joke because someone pointed out that it was back instock.

They came (separate packages) as twins.
Is the $5 coupon guaranteed to work on $4.99 games, or does it depend on the cashier?
I THINK it depends on the cashier, because the coupon says $5 off any PS2 game and the game only costs $4.99. I usually let them scan it first and total it, so it comes to $5.29 and I pay $.29 to get the game. I know some people say they get the games for free here, but I'm not sure how they do it. Plus you can find $.39 walking around in Best Buy! :D

Uh, if the game costs $4.99 and you take off $5, then it is free - how is that hard to figure out? Sounds like they apply tax on yours or something and you pay that - but usually with discounts like that they come off before the tax. If they scan the game and then the coupon, it discounts before the total is applied, and the game is free (though I ALWAYS buy something else since the cashier will often balk if you don't have to pay anything for your transaction). I don't worry about it in any case because I'm (usually) in OR where there is no sales tax. However, I'm pretty sure I got one in VA without paying the tax too...

On another note, ALL of my online orders, except for one (GC Azkaban, which I got within days of the order) have gone on backorder. I've had more luck finding things in store the last week or two than I ever did with ordering online.
STILL waiting on my Silent Hill 4 :(

Order Date: 09/12/05 still shows as backordered....
Yeah, the one I ordered on the 12th is backordered.

Lucky I placed an order on Sunday and got that one for $5 after return/rebuy

Some cashiers are stingy @ BB, you have to scout out the situation and then pick one you think will cooperate....

After a few trials and errors and when you know the cashiers, it will go alot easier ;)

Could a packge get lost at the local post office? (seems doubtful). My tracking # shows as it being at the local post office on September 20th and that delivery should take 1 - 3 days. As of yesterday since there is no mail on Sunday, it's still not here. Maybe it's just Best Buy's lousy tracking (which still says tracking is unavailable for an order I received last week)

My package sat in a few post office for 1-2 days before it was shipped out. Reason why is beyond me.

Is the sale still going on right now? Cuz if it is....I need to rush out to my local BB in a hurry to pick up what little they have left.

The price changes were permanent markdowns, I believe. So if you can find the games in-store, they should be the lower prices. I just picked up NBA Street GH over the weekend for free.

yes they can get lost... i had a package that showed the same thing last year when the clearence hit and was told either the package got delivered with someone elses mail, got destoyred in shipment or someone just took it
Did you get your money back? I would be annoyed if I didn't get those games I ordered but would be even more angry if I lost the money.
lucky i used another CC besides the Best buy one and did a charge back (saying i never got my items). I called Best buy and told them , they might of changed this since last year...

1. they told me to wait 45-60 days before reporting it lost
2. they said i had to file a lost claim form fill it all out and file it against BB
3. Wait up to 90 days after all of this is done for a refund on the CC

so your talking up to 6 months before getting the cash back.. I say forget that and just did a chargeback and made my CC do all the work .. the CC i used refunded the money within 10 days

I'm starting to get email cancellations for games that were backordered (before the 25 day period or whatever is up):

"The product you ordered is no longer available and the order has been canceled. If you'd like to make another selection, visit BestBuy.com."

If that happens to me, no way I am waiting that long for a refund. I'll just do a chargeback as well (but I hope it doesn't come down to that)

sucks for you people that ordered online then huh? I went to 3 Best Buys and got 7 games..could have got 12 but I wouldnt have played them if they didn't sell.

I went to three Best Buys and got one game. Well, I did get Two Towers and TMNT2 as well, but took them back when they turned out to be $10 instead of $5. Think I'll pick TMNT2 up again though with my PG rebate.

Today, I finally got my games from my order on the 12th. When it finally came I was disappointed; it was in this heavy plastic bag in my opinion isn't made to hold 9 video games. I had ordered Resident Evil: Outbreak but for some reason it was the french version of the game. Monsters, Inc. and LOTR: The Third Age had the disc popped out of the holder. They should have been put in a box to prevent that from happening and thats what I told CSR and Supervisor I called after my package came. I think its bullshit to charge $18 shipping and to send them in bag like what QVC uses to ship clothes out; thats exactly what i told them also. I asked for half my shipping back, but they wouldn't bulge to give it partly back since I got the order. I told them I'm not going to buy from their website and once I get a chance I'm using all my giftcards and certificates when I get to Best Buy. After hearing other caggers problems with this clearance; Shaq-fu Best Buy.

Note: I took most of the games to EB to use their extra $5 bonus instead of driving an hour to take some of the back.

Not necessarily. I got 8 games online that I would never have found in the stores around me and 4 games at one BB store. In the end it was a success ordering it online. Mind you, I did let the BizRate.com site what I really thought of BB.com's site and the problems I had, but I left happy with some good deals. I just think a lot of you got shafted, especially Shrike, and that's not right.

Same thing happened to me, so I feel for you. Below will be a rerun of what I posted before, so sorry for making others read it again:

Had 10 games ship in that oversized mailer with no cushion what-so-ever to protect them. Most of the games had the disc loose inside and it also sounded like some other games had parts of the inside case broken or the discs themselves partly shattered. Never opened the games to find out. Meanwhile, my smaller orders shipped in nice cardboard to protect them (one box wasn't taped all the way, though...nice).

I need help on the Tarzan GBA game. I bought it before the sale (for my nephew) and there is a UPC sticker over the original UPC code that is on the box. Which UPC code has to be scanned to get the $0.99 price...original or stickered? Thanks.

Original. Looks like it was retagged as an endcap game at 9.99, according to other reports.

I have to disagree with you as well . . .

It would have been a lot of gas (and time) for me to hit more than one store. At the local store I found Mr. Driller and Otogi 2 only.

Online, I got Silent Hill 4 (really demented game!), Crash Twinsanity, Astro Boy. I was able to get most of my shipping refunded and games price adjusted instore. My games came in a large padded envelope (stupid packaging) but all arrived in perfect shape (including the GBA box!).

So, I'd say the only disappointment for me was that some prices turned out to be $10 rather than $5 . . . shrug.

And I was happy I did both online and instore shopping.

Hey, this is for Shrike and anyone else who got screwed over by the online orders, or for anyone who just doesn't like Best Buy.

Just go and order a couple of these for shipping, on separate transactions. They are on backorder but you can also do store pickup (they show available at every Best Buy near me which is a first). If you can get them to ship for free though you are *really* being a devil customer :D

Enjoy!
For those with backorders, don't give up hope yet:

I had a Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls ship yesterday that was previously backordered.
Same here.
