Took mine in to the store and while I was standing in line the cashier saw the printout in my hand and shouted "$5". I guess no one got more than $5 today.

All the stores in my area are listing this as "Unavailable" should I believe that? We are getting my son a 3DS for x-mas and this is one of the games he said he wanted. I just find it hard to believe that they would be sold-out of a first party Nintendo game.

Game is actually published by Sega.
Super tempting lol at 160 price
i still cant get myself to buy this, for one i dont really need it and second from all the reviews it is sure to break on you, a waste IMO but i see the temptation for a nice tv at that price, a shame it doesnt last

I just double checked and it works fine for me. You can manually search on best buy's website for "Playstation 3D Display" and it will show up, too.

I agree. i don't need it but I once try it and the screen look VERY nice, even with not using the 3d effect

Pretty much why I am paying with Amex. If this craps out in under two years, they got me covered. Two years from now Sony might be bankrupt and they'll just pay me out.

nvm, just browser acting up

Thumbs up on the display from me. I bit for 200 earlier this year and have no regrets. Despite the grousing about failures, mine's not had any issues w/ 5+ hours of use every day since purchase.

It's not a perfect display, but it's a great 24'' for a price. Good color and response time. People who say it's a bad PC monitor have't set it up right. It comes out of the box too sharp and bright for PC use, but that's easy to fix in settings. 3D is a nice perk. Only real knocks are that the viewing angle isn't great and that it's a bit too glossy for bright rooms.

I ordered it for the hell of it, $180 for the TV and 2 year warranty in case anything goes wrong. Ordered good will hunting for instore pickup too. Love that movie.

For what it's worth, I've never heard a single good thing about those official Playstation 3D displays, and have heard from multiple sources that they just randomly die after a couple of months of moderate to heavy use. So don't buy them. Ever. Unless you get an awesome warranty and are fine with swapping out screens every few months.

Unless you're 8 years old or live in a college dorm room I don't understand why you would buy anything smaller then a 32" TV---especially with how low costs have gotten on flat screens in the past 1-2 years.

I suppose if you were purchasing this to use a computer monitor but from what I've read this isn't optimal for that. I know it's not technically a TV as it doesn't have a built in tuner but then again I can't remember the last time I hooked a TV directly up to the wall either (doesn't everyone have a set top box of some type [cable, satellite, something?])

Good price though I guess

Nope - I get all my cable right out of the wall. Always have, always will ;).

Damn - I knew I shouldn't have bought this when it was $200. I got it for my kids and they barely use it. For a while they took turns when the other was on the big TV. But it was more of a "punishment" to them - ie, one got stuck with the small TV while the other used the nice one. And it was a pain because I had to switch HDMI cables around to use it. They tried the 3D the very first day and then never again. Then the TV broke (power supply died as they all will do eventually on this set). I got it back from Sony a month later and the kids haven't used it once since then .

I own one and have not had any problems. I use it as a monitor (it gets heavy use) and it's perfectly fine - I also play some PS3 games on it. So now you've heard a 'single good thing about it'.

I highly recommend it with a warranty.

So you have a big TV... and don't like watching television in HD?
Do the Sony 3d glasses work with the LG TV?
Don't think so, the LG 3D monitor uses passive 3D tech. The Sony 3D Display glasses are active 3D.

I bought one about 2 weeks ago from Kmart, I think its a great cheap way to bring 3D into the home. I mainly use mine for 3D movie watching. Tried some 3D gaming on it with Uncharted 3, it looked cool at first, but I don't like playing in 3D(feels kind of distracting and throws my aim off).

Aw no way! I was hmmn and hawwin all day about using my sony card pts to buy this at $180. I decided to wait for a better deal on something else. Now I gotta pull the trigger. Ironic.
So you have a big TV... and don't like watching television in HD?
You can get cable HD without a box. I did before I switched to my current system actually. Now I just get HD through my antenna and my regular-ass TV tuner. I've heard that broadcasted HD is actually better than cable because it's not compressed as much.
So you have a big TV... and don't like watching television in HD?
Actually, I don't understand why you need a box. I get HD from the wall outlet no problem. My mom was getting cable and they insisted on renting her a box with it and I told her it was a scam . Why do you need a box? Sorry, I'm a little old-school with my TV. For one thing I don't do any premium channel/DVR crap. I have always had the basic setup - but that now includes digital channels and all the broadcast channels in HD. And no, I wouldn't pay any more to get anything else in HD - just not worth it IMO. Basic cable is expensive enough. I guess maybe it is necessary for all that other stuff - I've just never had the need to look into that.

ANYWAY, it is a little inconvenient with this Sony 3D display because, well, it is only useful when connected to one of the consoles. I really should by an HDMI matrix switcher so I can hook both the 360 and PS3 to both displays without having to swap cables. But those cost almost as much as this display does now ;).

$160 is a good deal for the Sony 24'' 3DTV with built in speakers and subwoofer. Unfortunately it has problems with blacking out which prevents me from buying it. Even if you buy a replacement plan for it, who knows how many times you have to send it in. Some 24'' LED monitors costs more than $160 but have better reliability.
I mainly want it for 3D...although I have to wonder how well the 3D glasses will fit on top of perscription glases
I have a fat ass head. They fit over perfectly without any issues.

We do know. We've seen many people here and on other forums buy these. The problem is the power supply. Once it's sent off and replaced, you're good to go. It sucks you might have to send off, but you know upfront it's fixable and Sony has been taking care of people on this issue.

I bit ... I have mixed emotions at the moment ... guess I'll sleep on whether to keep it.

Between this and the $29.99 glasses at BB the time seemed right for 3D ... plus I have a bunch of 3d blurays that I haven't been able to use

These do have a 1 year warranty from Sony right?

Some areas have made the switch to full digital and if you have cable you get nothing by plugging your coax cable into your tv in those areas. If you are not in one of those areas you can get local HD channels by plugging it into a tv with a QAM tuner and maybe some non local channels if you are lucky with your provider. If you want "basic" cable (stuff like USA, FX, TNT, etc.) though you typically need to have a digital tuner adapter (DTA) or some type of cable box. With a DTA you get channels 2-99 all in glorious SD with no guide (only the lineup channel), alternatively you can get a digital converter box which is similar to the DTA as you only get SD but it gives you a guide and more channels. You might be eligible to get up to 2 DTA's and 1 digital converter box for free with your current tv package. If you are just using cable internet and using the free tv they still feed into the house it is not for you. You could also get switches for free from them to get the local HD from the wall and the SD channels from the DTA or converter box. If you are paying for HD/ HD-DVR service or it is included you really are missing out by not getting those extra channels but if you do not feel like paying ridiculous HD DVR fees you can look into getting an HDHomeRun Prime. I just got in on this deal for it for $136.xx which is a nice price and will pay for itself within a year. Unfortunately since the whole switch to digital signal crap by the government I went from being able to get about 25 channels (some repeats from the next county over) to barely able to get 1-3 channels with a $200+ antenna according to antennaweb.org

This is getting way off topic, but I have well over 100 channels (all the 77-1, 77-2, etc, stuff plus things in the 100's) via just basic cable and a nothing more than a coax from wall to HDTV. Only "local" channels are HD though. Anyway, enough going off topic. I need to figure out whether I want full HD (for things like ESPN) and the whole DVR thing. I just have a hard time paying monthly fees for something I did for free when I was younger (that is, set up a VCR to record stuff I'd otherwise miss ;)).

As for the Sony displays, is it true that once they fix it, it is good to go? I had mine fixed like I said earlier, but I haven't even used it since then. I may find a use for it eventually, so it would be nice to know if I don't have to worry about the power supply problem any more.

An HD box is def worth it, $10.00 a month gets you HD on all the major channels (espn's, FX, USA, A&E etc), if you use just straight coax cable connection you will only get your local stations in HD. Everything else is 480i. Also the best part is video on demand, it's just like netflix but current seasons of shows. If you've got an HD tv and you're paying for expanded cable, an extra $10 a month is def worth it. I may jump on this TV, I've got $25 in rewards waiting to burn.

If this thing had a better track record I'd jump on it, I just don't want to deal with the hassle of it breaking. There's too many negative reviews for it to just be a fluke.

The PS 3D Display sale is part of the 2-day sale, not the Deal of the Day. I thought I had checked the DOTD (it's an iPod) and when I saw this thread I doubted my sobriety.

This.

Most newer TVs have a QAM tuner and you can get unencrypted HD cable channels (local broadcast) directly to your TV without a box. ATSC tuner is for Over the Air (OTA) channels in HD. I pay $12 a month for my local broadcast channels over cable and get them in HD via the QAM tuner. I also have an inexpensive UHF antenna on the roof and get HD OTA channels.

Agreed. My local Sony PlayStation rep acknowledged there was an issue.

BTW this product has been thoroughly discussed here:

I can tell you I've had mine for nearly a year and have used it for probably 5+ hours a day as both a computer monitor and PS3 monitor. Never had an issue.

This being an active 3d versus passive is a deal breaker for me. The bad power supplies are just extra incentive to avoid this one.

I haven't. But I don't get the emails either. Signed up last week, and got the confirmation page an everything.

As for the Sony 3D Playstation TV, I'm not sure if it is worth all the hassle with this TV breaking down so much within a few months. Even if it was at $99, it's still not worth all the trouble. But to each his own.
Has anyone received the 100 RZ points for signing up for the DOTD email offer.

It is not showing up in my account, but i am getting the emails.
Dammit. This is the last thing I need to spend money on right now. I was a hair away from buying it when GameStop had them selling for $200 a few months back. Might as well jump on this now since I have about $120 in BB credit. Stupid fucking deals!

EDIT: Changed my mine right before clicking checkout. I don't need this and I see my girlfriend getting mad at me if I suddenly have another TV. We got 3 TVs as it is with only 2 damn rooms in the house.
