Tempting. A local walmart already has the 3ds, wii and xbox versions of the giants out on the floor.
Uh oh. Our store had to set up the shelves for Giants over the weekend and the starter sets didn't have their date in the system yet, but we looked it up to double check--looks like that store didn't. Good for customers, potentially not so good for whomever done goofed.

CRAP! I knew these skylander's sets were going on sale on the 16th but I didn't know they were going to be the deal of the day only. I needed to pick up two for my niece and nephew for Christmas. Do you think these will go on sale during Black Friday? Crossing my fingers they do. Did anybody get an extra set or two that they don't think they will use?

I showed my 5-year-old the Skylanders bundle last night, and asked him if he'd like it for Christmas. He remembered seeing the game at Sears earlier in the week, and then said "Oh, yeah! Can't we get all the guys?"

I was like "Oh, shit. I really hope he doesn't expect to start collecting all of these damn characters."

Anyways, I bought the starter pack and plan on putting it away until Christmas. I just hope he's still interested in it when he opens it then. I'll probably end up being the only person playing it in our house, but whatever. I've been wanting the game for a while, anyways. I just thought it would be fun to play with him.
... I really hope he doesn't expect to start collecting all of these characters...
Gamestop has been selling them used lately. Also, they do go on sale pretty often. With the Giants coming, I wouldn't be surprised to see the regulars start getting clearanced at some point (maybe not until after Christmas). And, of course, when the fad wears away, you'll be able to collect them all for pennies on the dollar, if not free by rummaging through the trash after mothers do spring cleaning.

I showed my son the game at Target yesterday and said he really wants it for Christmas. I'll get him the one I picked up at BB yesterday and I'll get LEGO Batman 2 for myself when it's cheaper.

Yeah, that's kind of my plan with the whole Skylanders thing, I want to play it with my kids but I'll wait until I can get a lot of them for dirt cheap because nobody wants them anymore (like Guitar Hero stuff).
Sorry CAGs, I'm out at a convention for the weekend so when I go back on Monday I'll post what this week's deal is.
Vyse you go to BB every week? Anyways thanks for the heads up on the DOTD every week.:)
Dumb question
My fiancee has the complete set of skylanders.
If I wanted to play could I use hers to and still unlock achievements?
Yes
Cool, I was under the impression they had to Be registered to a profile.
some of them do glitch. Theres a couple of achievements that dont register, unless you reset and reassign the figure to your system before starting the game.

I know the whole max out a characters stats didnt unlock for me and one other, because I had played with the figure on the living room ps3 for like 20 minutes, before I played for hours in the bedroom.

No, im at Oni-Con in Galveston.
you arent at that zombie convention here in San Antonio are you? >_>
I missed the zombie con but went to monster con lol here in SA
Looking forward to this weeks DOTD it's been a while since I've had a good DOTD

Forgive me for straying from subject matter, but while the topic of cons is up in the air - if anyone's going to GMX in good ol' Franklin, TN this coming weekend, you should hit me up.

On topic? Uh, I'm looking forward to hearing about the next set of deals ;)

Checking the BB website, it looks like there is a gaming DOTD tomorrow. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up and maybe someone can shed some light on what it will be.

It's actually referring to today, the gaming DOTD is a gaming desktop. :whistle2:|

Although the model in the DoTD is crap in terms of spec (which is obvious for the price tag), I would recommend iBuyPower, I have dealt with them several times when I got too busy to build the rig. Customer service is always friendly, and their craftsmanship is very professional, even for my picky OCD standards (just make sure to choose the premium wiring package/or whatever it's called when ordering).

I don't know about this "gamer PC" DotD but just this past friday I bought an i5 3570k, asrock z77 pro4-m, 8gb 1600 RAM, and a corsair 500w PSU for $359(@microcenter but newegg is similar) after tax and before my $10 rebate. I already had a graphics card already and an ssd and an old antec case to house it all but if you include those add $200-250.

If you just want a buy it and use it experience I guess this DotD would be fine for current gen games running mid to low settings, but if you want any longevity and mid to high settings there is no better deal than to do it yourself.

Sorry guys and gals: no gaming deals this week.

Anyone that wants a Galaxy S3 on Friday they will be $100 w/a contract. Sick deal on that.

Knew i should have waited an extra month to upgrade!!!! I have to take in my Atrix to exchange cause it only took me three weeks to crack the screen. I'll see if i can't make a switch with some sweet taking

How much are they normally with a contract? I need a smartphone as I am using an old flip phone and I think I need to take the leap. I may need a 12 year old to teach me how to use it.

I wanna say $200 but don't quote me. I think that's why i picked up my Atrix @ $100. I'm anti appleand i don't care to get into a debate right now, with that said; the S3 is the best Android out there right. However with phones, a better model is only months away

I hope they have a demo model. I used to work for Verizon and I can't believe that stores like Target just have dummy display models. I looked the other day and I thought to myself. Ohh this one is a slightly smaller black box. :lol:I'm going on a tangent, but that must be a generational gap. I ask people about there phones and they show it to me with the screen off. WhyTF do I want to see a phone that is off? I want to see how the display looks and if it is responsive.

Bleh, the Itunes Deal isn't showing on their site. It shows there's still 55 minutes left on the deal of the day, but that one's not there. Lame Best Buy.

Whoa, you got all that for $359? The processor and motherboard alone are that much.

Processor: $229.99
Motherboard: $134.99

Total = $364.98

I'd say that was a steal.

i get ya. I doubt you have that many more years on me though. There are display models, it's one of the more popular phones. I compare all the smart phones against each other and at the end of the day they are just really mini computers. They all do the same shit, they just have different specs. Some have this as a pro and con while others have that and this. They make calls, use the internet and play games. Simple....but yes, definite upgrade from your dinosaur fflipper :)

I myself tried to make the leap into Smart phones last year via Metro PCS. I paid $300 for a Samsung Galaxy Indulge that now sits in my closet. The damn battery didn't even last the 9 hours on standby while I was at work and the reception was s%#t. There's a reason why Metro PCS offers no contracts with unlimited talk/text/data for only $49.

At the moment I'm using a LG sliding phone with a full Qwerty keyboard from Verizon Unleashed which gives me unlimited talk/text for $50 a month pre-paid with no contract. I do enjoy Verizon's coverage and the phone can be on standby for 7 days + on one battery charge.

For this upcoming deal, are there any carriers you'd recommend? And in your experience, how long does the battery last?

Smart phones need the same battery that NASA's curiosity has. You've gotta tweak your settings allot to maximize battery on these damn things

We picked up the S3s for $100 a pop each, and LOVE them compared with our aging droidx phones. Walmart regularly sells them for $150 with contract, so the savings was really only $100.

Battery life on them has been VERY good, considering how large the screen is, and spare batteries are dirt cheap on ebay, a few for $10 shipped with a charger! We usually carry at least one spare battery when we do vacations of something big lik dragoncon.

I can't say enough good things about our new S3s. I'd buy them again in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the replies. I may try to jump back onto the smart phone wagon this Friday.

I'd just sit back and wait for the next S3 deal. I'm sure we'll see it on sale several times this holiday season. Our phones were in bad need of replacing, and the timing was just great for us.

The biggest problem once you get it? Trying to decide on the deal you want on accessories on Ebay. because they've sold so many damned Galaxy S3s since launch, there are more accessory options than you can even keep up with.

We've both spent hours looking through case auctions, and neither of us has made up our minds on what we want yet.

The car docks though are a no brainer.

Can someone educate me on Android phones without contracts? I'm on T-mobile's prepaid plan, I just want a smartphone where I can just pop in the sim card and that's it...

You didn't hear about the exploding third party cheap batteries...?

Yeah.. google and read in forums.. not one person has every actually seen this happen to anyone. I sounds like its all smoke and mirrors from cell providers who want to sell you the same product produced in China with their home label slapped on them.

We've had extended cheap china batteries in our droidx phones now for 2 and a half years.. and we got our two extended batteries back then for under $10 shipped.

^Relax...I was just joking.

But for the record, it did happen once in China (the irony). It exploded in his front jeans pocket (hence my "joke" in post #5948). When I worked in Shanghai, it was possible to get those accessories that you buy in the U.S., before the labeled were printed on them.

I can make a capaciter explode whther it would be name brand or not,( I dont think caps do) but the point is if you want to make something blow up, it doesnt matter whether it is 1st or 3rd party

Caps don't really explode at least I have never seen. They just dome and seep.

I assume its possible, but I can't think of a real life situation that would cause it to "explode".
