Thanks! Definitely getting a 1TB then. Will be quite an upgrade from 160GB :whee:
Just a word of advice: I upgraded to a 1TB last year on a good reviewed Samsung one and accidentally stripped out the screw that holds the hard drive in the casing. If you can, try to borrow from someone the correct fitting screwdriver or you might have to go to a computer repair shop like I did.

Here's an example of what I'm referring to http://www.amazon.com/Security-Tamper-Screwdriver-Playstation-Console/dp/B0090O9QFW

This looks interesting as well http://www.ebay.com/itm/PS3-Slim-Torx-T8-Screwdriver-Security-Tamper-Proof-Tool-open-Xbox-360-controller-/360434464602

The income of an adult, combined with being on cag and knowing which threads to follow so that when a game does hit that sweet price you buy it. Plus factor in that we just are more likely to go out, buy a game, and then just play whatever is in the console.

What pretty much sums up the people of this site

That pic is PERFECT!

Yup I was very close to stripping a screw myself by using the wrong sized screwdriver. It's extremely easy to do on those tiny PS3 screws.

I'll probably just buy the one at Amazon for that price. It says PS3 Fat; I'm guessing that it would also work on a PS3 Slim (the "old" Slim)?

Having a kid made me care alot less about 'perfect' conditioned stuff and thinking things will last forever.

My son has ripped the spear out of subzero's chest on my bookends, lost max paynes guns, broke about 4-5 skylanders, i have tooth scratches on my steel cases and missing chunks out of my slipcases. i just lost 2 ds3's this week because my 11 month old is teething and found the controllers and bit off the nubs and soaked them til they broke. i could be upset or i can realize this is just stuff and babies are babies. the worst is when it is old collectibles, iv had ff7 wallscrolls and so many tifa arms and aerith heads and etc. like cod shirts just destroyed that can't be bought again, and its like rage, but whatcha gonna do. i got my ds3s and steelcases and all put up now, but you just cant hide everything away. that's life.

and thats just the babies. my older daughters make me cringe when i find breaking bad dvds and black ops 2 disks on the ground or just sitting on a table face up. or when they read my strategy guides / art books. they are like, whats the point if you don't read it or play with your toys, im like omg they are collectibles, lol. but its all good

My problem is that when I finally have time to sit down and play (especially when I want to start a new game), I will spend a good 20 minutes going over my shelf to decide what to play. Eventually, I can't decide and say "fuck it, I'm tired anyways so I'll just put on a movie." This is a weekly occurrence for me.

Having too many choices overloads my indecisiveness.
This is me exactly, and which is why I haven't played a game since May. I didn't stop buying, mind you, but I don't think about it anymore.

My personal backlog is approaching 650, with almost 300 on XBOX360 alone. To put it in perspective, I have yet to play Halo 2 or GTAIII, and I don't play out of order.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm not thinking about the other games I have when I decide to buy a game. I look at that game solely, and say, 'That looks great - I would love to play that.' Then it goes on the shelf with the other games. The thought is ALWAYS that I want to play it, and will someday.

Before I used to track what I was playing and how many games I'd finish in a year, but it was pointless. I would view playing games as an obligation ('I have to finish these!') which isn't what playing games is all about.

I stopped thinking about the games as something I 'have to get to' someday. They're there for me whenever I want to play them. And if I don't, I don't.

Having more sealed games and collector sets than games I've opened by a ratio of almost 8-1 is definitely wasteful spending - no question about it. However, I don't usually buy games at full price, and can pretty much do whatever I want with my money. Worst case scenario - I sell them someday.

That day isn't likely to come soon though. In the meantime, I'll pick up my Batman Arkham Origins LE tomorrow, and put it next to the Arkham City LE that I still haven't played yet. Hopefully I'll get to that one soon...

(Oh, and for those who think I'm exaggerating about the backlog number, I'm not. I'm also not bragging either; clearly my OCD gets the better of me.) ;)

Can I have it? I promise to give it a good home. What? No? HOW DARE YOU HAVE SUCH A SEXY GAME AND NOT TOUCH IT REGULARLY! It deserves better than that, I can give it better than that. . .

This is me exactly:

You and I are apparently the same person since this is me to a tee.

Also, remember it's not a "backlog", it's called your videogame collection.

I see they haven't upgraded their add on items to reflect the new $35 minimum for FSSS. Something like these should work as I use something similar. http://www.amazon.com/Stanley-66-039-Jewelers-Precision-Screwdriver/dp/B00002X29G/ref=sr_1_2?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1382547652&sr=1-2&keywords=mini+screwdrivers

I almost stripped the Tobias screw the first time I upgraded a 20gb because the thing was in there so damn tight. I ended up using a pair of needle nose pliers to get it loosened up so I could unscrew it. After you get that screw out and the ones on the hard drive casing, you don't need to make them as tight as Sony did.

I never finished super mario bros. I know I never will. In life and in the game I will run out of time at the end.

And yes, I call mine a collection now because I will never open or play 80% of what I own.

Very true, though I collect vintage games, not current gen. It just so happens that they're becoming one and the same as time goes on...

I think he meant this:

But then again, has anyone ever finished this?
Let's be honest though. It's probably because all of us who are old enough to have owned/played that game spent more time f'n around on the flying dragon glitch (the one that results in the dragon endlessly flying you around the game) than we did getting the keys, etc.

I call mine a collection too.

I open everything within like a week of buying it though take the game out of the case and put it into an alphabetized disc binder with all of my other games for that particular console.  The case/manual then goes into a box than when full will be placed into the attic for storage until who knows when.  I realize when buying a game it may never enter the disc drive of my console.  But there is that slight notion in my head when I buy it that "oh I'm gonna enjoy playing this game".  And I admit too that I get a slight "high" when purchasing stuff.  I'm much less compulsive with my shopping now than I used to be though.

I've wasted a lot of money in my 23 years on stuff that isn't going to provide me a return on that money later in life.  And that's okay.

I've collected wrestling figures (about 11 years), MMA figures (2 years), video games (started playing when I was 7 and still going obviously), and sneakers (weird I know but this lasted about 7 years).

But during those periods of my life I enjoyed them.  I could afford them or had them afforded for me.  At times do I wish I could have some of that money back?  Yeah of course but that's not gonna happen.  And I know when then was the present I was happy with my things.

At the end of the day that's all it is....things....materialistic things.  But that's okay.

If you can afford it and it makes you happy it's not a waste. :) Anyway, anything someone buys for fun could be considered a waste from a different perspective. Personally I don't understand why people buy drinks at a bar when it's dramatically less expensive to buy alcohol at the grocery store, or pay for tickets to a baseball game when you can watch it on television for free. But people spend their own money on what's fun for them, so it's all good.

That's a dragon?! I thought I was trying to impregnate a platypus.

I did. It may have been the last game I actually finished...
Hell yeah I finished that game! (And now here I am 30+ years later trying to finish up Disgaea D2 and then maybe move on to Skyrim before the PS4/X1 come out ;)).

I always thought it looked like a duck - but sure, platypus works just as well.

So, yeah, what is the topic of this thread? Oh yeah, Best Buy DotD - I haven't seen this thread pop up much. Has there even been any DotD recently? I got a $5 credit for having Dirt 3 backordered so thought I'd be able to use that but I haven't seen anything at Best Buy recently...

No way Amazon pricematches this for only a day-long deal....oh well guess ill grab a copy was hoping for $10 during BF this will have to do.

Got charged for shipping and an estimated date of 11/6-11/11 on top of that is really annoying. First time in a long time from BB. Did they change their policy to orders $25 and up or was it always like that? Could have sworn I got free shipping on games cheaper than that recently...

Yeah, BBY changed the free shipping policy for orders that are now over $25 (Amazon in turn raised their FSSS minimum to $35). But BBY still does free shipping for certain sales. These are the coupon based sales, not DotD sales. Like the current Tiger Woods 14 sale:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/promo/save-on-tiger-woods-pga-14-113324

Best way to avoid shipping is to ship item to store (or if store already has stock) for pick up. Then you save the shipping charges.

I'd like to jump on this, but not sure yet...with Black Friday so close, I'm trying to save my money. Decisions, decisions... :whistle2:k
