Can I pre-order and purchase multiple copies of a
qualifying game and get multiple awards?
No. There is a limit of one (1) award per My Best Buy
member per game title.
What if I pre-ordered a qualifying game before I
saw this offer?
If you pre-ordered a qualifying game before seeing
this offer, you’ll still qualify for the offer as long as
your member ID is attached to the transaction.
When will I receive my $10 reward certificate?
For each qualified purchase, you will receive 500 My
Best Buy points (worth $10 in reward certificates)
credited to your account approximately 15–20 days
after street date or store pickup.
If I pre-order a game now using my GCU and the
game releases after my membership ends, will
I still get the 20% off discount?

For in-store pre-orders, I can definitively say that if
your GCU membership is expired when you
complete your pickup, you will not receive the 20%
discount. This is because in-store pre-orders are not
processed until the time of pickup, and we only
collect an up-front deposit.

Pre-orders made on BestBuy.com are not as cut and
dry as in-store, but it is possible to retain your GCU
discount on a title released after your membership
expires for these types of pre-orders. Reason being,
when you place your pre-order the GCU discount is
calculated up front, and we then pre-authorize the
discounted total with your bank. If all goes well, the
discount can be retained upon release, however,
there is no guarantee.

A sure way to lose the discount on BestBuy.com
pre-orders is if any modifications are made to the
order prior to release, but after your membership
has expired. These modifications could be updating
the billing address, changing the form of payment,
and others. This is because when a modification is
made it triggers another authorization on your form of
payment, which should recalculate the price if your
GCU membership is no longer active.

If you are intending to take time off work and want a physical copy, then do store pickup and be there at opening (or go digital). I always use that if I want to play it right away. Even if Best Buy did everything perfect, you still have the chance of a shipper having it delayed or even delivering it later on in the day. I look at potential delays as the price of having it delivered to my doorstep for free shipping, especially since they have delivered early in several cases.

Have you ever gone digital at Best Buy? I’m thinking about digital and wondering when they usually send out codes for preloading.
 
Anyone else have their Mario Odyssey pre-order canceled? I re-ordered 3x today only to have it canceled minutes later. I just did another order where I removed the stupid pre-order coin from my pre-order to test to see if it goes through. Maybe it's because they only have so many coins. I pre-ordered pretty late - like sometime last month - so maybe I won't get one. No sweat for me...I just want the damn $10 cert that goes above and beyond what Amazon will give.

EDIT: dammit just got a cancel for the no coin order too...I re-entered my CC and everything...I have like 5 other pre-orders (including Scorpio) so I better not lose those...

EDIT2: CC is clear - it's AMEX and they approved all...

EDIT3: supposedly Best Buy says my account was "flagged" for security purposes...lol wonder if this is related to the disputes that I put in because they tried to charge me $1, $0.01, etc. for "free" pre-order digital bonuses - AMEX gave me the money.

Yep, doing a chargeback generally leads to a ban. Your other preorders will likely be cancelled when Best Buy tries to authorize payment as the trigger is likely your AMEX card. I don't understand why you would have done a chargeback for such small amounts without trying to resolve with Best Buy first. It seems like an abuse of the system.

I did. They basically told me to pound sand at the store. They're the ones abusing us by charging some ridiculous arbitrary amount for a cancellation. If you preorder a game like Battlefront that comes with a free beta access code then I shouldn't be charged $1 when I cancel it. I haven't used any of the codes I am not reselling them. Just got a gift card for my birthday so I wanted to re-do pre-orders.

You are right and that's what I'm going to do for Monster Hunter World for which I'm planning on taking a week of vacation. I'll probably place an order for shipping with Best Buy and then if it doesn't ship at a time to my liking I will change it to store pickup or cancel and go digital.

In case you didn't know, you will get the $10 bonus cert on eligible games when you go digital but not the GCU discount. Why that is is beyond me.

^ yep I may preorder some digital titles at BB to get the $10. I figure multiplayer games will have low values a year after they come out anyway.
 
I want to preorder Mario Odyssey for store pick up. Do they ever over sell preorders? I want to pick it up in the afternoon but if there is a chance it may not be available for long I will get it in the morning.

Anyone still waiting on South Park. My copy was delayed but I was able to change it to store pick up. I don’t really understand why it was delayed and still available to order online. Not too big of a deal since I still haven’t opened Evil Within 2.

For anyone that already got South Park, hows The Stick of Truth work? Just a PS4 code to download it? I wonder since it does appear to be available on PS4? Seems like a wasted opportunity to not sell it on PSN.

So my south park (that I pre ordered monday) already had it's $10 pending. I'm still waiting for my Shadow of War pending...i ordered that in May lol

It's a code for PS4 as well. Also, just an FYI for everyone that the Stick of Truth code is only good until 1/31/18 so best redeem it right away so you don't forget like I probably will. :D

If I'm going digital on Day 1, I'd do it straight through the XBoX/PS Store. You don't get GCU on digital, though you might get a pre-order bonus. But pre-ordering digital from the online store means it turns on as soon as it is available and you can pre-load it which is great if you are really anxious (which you probably are if you are pre-ordering at full price).

Thanks I was wondering because Best Buy is now including $10 certs with some digital preorders. Normally I go physical to get the 20% off as well.
 
I contacted BB via chat 5 days ago about my missing 500 bonus points for FIFA 18 and today got them.  Others have reported getting them immediately when they called, but I don't like talking over the phone.  Tip, when using chat, give them your full name, email, phone, best buy id and order # immediately to speed things up a bit.

 
Yeah, nothing here either. If it doesn't show up release day I'm buying it in store and returning the shipped copy in it's place for the money back
 
My PC Destiny 2 preorder won't get here on release day, which is both the first time it has happened and really irritating.  I knew I may be in trouble when I didn't get a shipping notification until late yesterday.  Here's hoping the same doesn't happen with Mario.

Doh. that's a bummer. Should be getting mine today. Best Buy has been very good at getting my preorders on release day. In fact it's one of the reasons I stopped preordering games from Amazon. They ship the day before release, and only takes 1 day for delivery since packages come from a warehouse near Fresno (I live in LA).

I figure Mario will ship Thursday.

I haven’t gotten a preorder in the mail on time since Resident Evil 7. I switched the last couple to in store pickup to make sure I’d get them on release day. I thought I’d switch it up and ordered Friday the 13th the game for shipping and it arrived 3 days late. Everyone’s on the unboxed forums complaining about the same thing and Best Buy’s general response is that they don’t care.
 
South Park was the first game that I've pre-ordered from Best Buy with shipping that arrived late. I've got Assassin's Creed Origins pre-ordered  so we'll see how that goes. For anything I'm really looking forward to, I'll order with shipping at first but if it doesn't ship by 3 days before release, I'll change to store pickup.

Advised them I had two more preorders for 10/27 and an X1X set for 11/7, and that I was disappointed because Amazon offers the same discount as GCU and manages to get them there on time. After a brief hold, the agent told me they were sending me a $30 gift card for the inconvenience, and would be escalating the complaint up "in the hopes that others won't have the same problem". She assured me which, of course, I *totally* believe (eyes rolling) that my remaining orders should come on time. No shipping notice yet for AC:O or Wolf 2.

Excellent argument you deserve that $30. Hopefully BB gets back on track for the holidays.
 
That’s how all of mine since Resident Evil 7 were. The night before I’d get an email saying Shipping was delayed then they’d ship it out the day of release. If it’s a Friday release I’d get it hopefully by Monday.

I'm waiting for the inevitable "payment info update required" email for my Mario Odyssey order. It was part of a Visa Checkout order and the card used on my Visa Checkout order is no longer valid.  I'll lose the Visa Checkout credit when I update the order.

Customer Service is typically closed during the Black Friday weekend so you would not be able to price adjust in store then. You have 15 days, with Elite 30 days, and with Elite Plus 45 days to return/adjust

The closest Best Buy to me is doing a midnight launch so now to decide if I want to pay that extra tax plus gas/effort to ensure getting AC before next week. Still unsure about getting Mario Odyssey and Wolfenstein right now or waiting for a sale or potential B2G1.

I just was wondering if Destiny 2 on PC qualified for the $10 certificate. I know it's too late but I had no idea that BB allowed GCU on PC games so please tell me so I can bang my head against the keyboard

I am pretty sure it did. Looked up older threads about it and it said it included PC.
