▼ Read Me! FAQ ▼ Pre-Order $10 Program
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can I pre-order and purchase multiple copies of a
qualifying game and get multiple awards?
No. There is a limit of one (1) award per My Best Buy
member per game title.
What if I pre-ordered a qualifying game before I
saw this offer?
If you pre-ordered a qualifying game before seeing
this offer, you’ll still qualify for the offer as long as
your member ID is attached to the transaction.
When will I receive my $10 reward certificate?
For each qualified purchase, you will receive 500 My
Best Buy points (worth $10 in reward certificates)
credited to your account approximately 15–20 days
after street date or store pickup.
If I pre-order a game now using my GCU and the
game releases after my membership ends, will
I still get the 20% off discount?
- From BestBuy Support Forums (link):
For in-store pre-orders, I can definitively say that if
your GCU membership is expired when you
complete your pickup, you will not receive the 20%
discount. This is because in-store pre-orders are not
processed until the time of pickup, and we only
collect an up-front deposit.

Pre-orders made on BestBuy.com are not as cut and
dry as in-store, but it is possible to retain your GCU
discount on a title released after your membership
expires for these types of pre-orders. Reason being,
when you place your pre-order the GCU discount is
calculated up front, and we then pre-authorize the
discounted total with your bank. If all goes well, the
discount can be retained upon release, however,
there is no guarantee.

A sure way to lose the discount on BestBuy.com
pre-orders is if any modifications are made to the
order prior to release, but after your membership
has expired. These modifications could be updating
the billing address, changing the form of payment,
and others. This is because when a modification is
made it triggers another authorization on your form of
payment, which should recalculate the price if your
GCU membership is no longer active.

Does anyone know if the original release of Star Wars Battlefront qualify for the trade in promo and 10$ gift card?

I want to do this promo but over the past few years my best buy store has been clueless when it comes to their own promos and gift cards.

and forget midnight pick ups....  nothing good happens anymore...so they pay 15 employees to stand around and do nothing for an hour after midnight for like 10 people who show up to this.

It was sweet to get $1 off Mario Odyssey for pickup at 6 PM (Hawaii) since the Best Buy is like a mile away.

I know the limit is 3 copies of a game for gcu discount technically. Is it 3 copies of a game overall or can I buy 3 copies of call of duty for ps4 and 3 copies for xbox one without getting in trouble?

From their FAQ Page, it is 3 copies PER PLATFORM:

Is there a limit to how many new video games I can buy with my 20% discount?
Yes, members are limited to 3 copies of each video game title (excludes pre-owned video games and digital gaming) per platform, per year, per member.

Ain't no Battlefront 2 midnight release anyway. ;)

Best Buy is doing a CUPHEAD exclusive release, but in typical Best Buy fashion.... it's a digital code inside :(

My Call of Duty copy hasn’t even shipped out yet, should I be worried?
It's possible the email is just late and it already shipped but it does seem like Friday releases have been hit or miss lately. I think retailers are still getting acclimated with the logistics of handling more major release titles on a Friday (warehouse storage issues, shipping, etc).

I haven't used my BB rewards in a long time but still have GCU. Picked up my Mario preorder on release but not see the points pending on my account online. Do they still do that, show pending points?

I always assumed it was since Battlefront 2015 had a midnight release.

Was the double xp emailed code or in the physical box?
From Mike at the BB forums:

the 2XP bonus and multiplayer upgrade are found using your beta code if you already received one from pre-ordering. If you did not get one because you pre-ordered after the beta had closed, then you will be sent this code in the next 24-48 hours.

Nah. They've scaled way back. Stores used to sell 50+ copies of a lot of games at these midnight releases but it's been happening less and less. I'm pretty sure the game companies pitch in for some of the labor cost so that might be one of the reasons. The year the only midnight launches were last Friday, last night, and Tuesday for Xbox One X.

I am sure I am getting my Super Mario Odyssey rewards certificate, but I have not gotten my South Park one. Super Mario shows a 546 point pending, but South Park only has only 46. I preordered both, is this normal? I will contact customer service tomorrow as tomorrow should be day 20 since I got the South Park game.

Question for you guys, as I want to know if this has happened to anyone else.

So, I go to Best Buy on Thursday to pre-order Call Of Duty WWII. I figured I'd use my mystery certificate. So I take the last pre-order card that I could find for Call of Duty. I go to the counter to immediately be scolded by this big black lady (who, by the way, has some weird hairy growth on her face). Anyway, she proceeds to give me the typical big black lady attitude and says I can't pre-order Call Of Duty because "it comes out tonight". I said, "No....it comes out tomorrow". She continued to be sassy and stated that because they were having a midnight release, their system wouldn't allow for pre-orders so quickly to the release. Is this a thing? I've never had a problem before. I was able to go on Best Buy's website, and pre-order it for in-store pick-up at the same exact store. So; what gives? Does their system actually prohibit this, or did the big black sassy lady (with a hairy growth on her face) just not want to do extra work? Anyone ever experienced this? I was kind of pissed when I came back the next day to pick it up. I said "I had no problems doing this online; why couldn't you just handle this yesterday?" She was like, "I told you; it won't work." I kind of don't want to go there anymore just so I won't have to deal with her sass lol.

The situation became even more disappointing when I was told I couldn't use my mystery certificate to pre-order Battlefront. But hooray; I got a round of applause for donating to St. Jude.

It was a lose-lose for me against the big black sassy lady (with a hairy growth on her face) on Thursday.

At some time on the day before preorders are cut off. i think it is 5pm, but I am not sure if that is Eastern or local time.
Yeah I think I did it right after work which is 5. According to the $10 pre-order bonus though, that ends at 6PM (5PM Central) the day before, so I should be alright.

I went to Best Buy half hour after they started selling the games because I didn't want to wait in line. I was expecting problems picking up the games because I did not get a "ready to pickup" email, even though my account states it's ready. When I arrived, they could not find my pre-order for Mario/ACO on their computer, then they looked and found my games with my name on it.

Got home and looked on my account and could not find my pre-order for Mario and AC Origins. Any one else experience this?
I had an issue where they couldn't pay off my preorder because payment was declined (it was on a card that had since been replaced due to somewhere I used it in the past being hacked). I went to trade in games that Friday to pay it off, though, instead of entering new card info. The coin went through ok, & got a ready to pickup email, but they had to cancel my order for game & reenter for me to purchase, to try & see if my reward certificate I had applied would carry over. It did not, but they did put the points back a few days later. I had to pay cash for the difference though if I wanted the game that day
They said MY order was not there, but they had dozens of copies of the game. It took over an hour for them to figure this out, only to not figure it out, & I paid extra to get it that day (instead of being able to use the reward cert I applied months back). I forgot about the $10 promo until later. It seems everyone has gotten their points by now, but I think I have to wait the 20 days before I can request they remedy this. The employees were nice & offered a poster (which I was completely unaware of), which was in a decent size stack of posters. Idid not know they had midnight openings there. I never got an email about it & never saw it mentioned on the site. I rarely go to the local store because it's quite a distance from where I live.

add me to the list of pre-ordering Destiny 2 and not getting my bonus points yet. i got the points for the game itself, but the bonus points don't even show as pending or anything. i mean, i'll wait the extra 6 days or whatever. it's just weird cuz all of my other pre-orders have shown in a prompt manner. shame, i was gonna combine my reward certificate with my $10 coupon to buy a new controller...

Sounds fishy to me, this is one of the reasons I prefer to just order online for in store pickup for these kinds of things. I preordered WW2 the day before since I was waiting on the Odyssey $10 cert to show up, and it went through without a hitch and I picked the game up the next day. I did it in the middle of the day though, so if there is a 5/6 pm cutoff I still would have made it.

Yeah; normally I'd just do it online, but funds were low and pay-day was the next day. So I figured I'd just put $5 down, you know?

Stores are told to stop taking preorders 2 days before release because the product is in the store at that point. Doesn't mean it can't be done though.

I don't like dat answer.

You gonna have to come up with a betta answer den dat. I need something I can tell nerdy white boys so they'll know I ain't playin.

Anyone else successfully (or not) use the mystery cert to pay the deposit for a pre-order in-store? I was planning on doing that...but I might just not even bother to go if other people have gotten declined.
