▼ Read Me! FAQ ▼ Pre-Order $10 Program
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can I pre-order and purchase multiple copies of a
qualifying game and get multiple awards?
No. There is a limit of one (1) award per My Best Buy
member per game title.
What if I pre-ordered a qualifying game before I
saw this offer?
If you pre-ordered a qualifying game before seeing
this offer, you’ll still qualify for the offer as long as
your member ID is attached to the transaction.
When will I receive my $10 reward certificate?
For each qualified purchase, you will receive 500 My
Best Buy points (worth $10 in reward certificates)
credited to your account approximately 15–20 days
after street date or store pickup.
If I pre-order a game now using my GCU and the
game releases after my membership ends, will
I still get the 20% off discount?
- From BestBuy Support Forums (link):
For in-store pre-orders, I can definitively say that if
your GCU membership is expired when you
complete your pickup, you will not receive the 20%
discount. This is because in-store pre-orders are not
processed until the time of pickup, and we only
collect an up-front deposit.

Pre-orders made on BestBuy.com are not as cut and
dry as in-store, but it is possible to retain your GCU
discount on a title released after your membership
expires for these types of pre-orders. Reason being,
when you place your pre-order the GCU discount is
calculated up front, and we then pre-authorize the
discounted total with your bank. If all goes well, the
discount can be retained upon release, however,
there is no guarantee.

A sure way to lose the discount on BestBuy.com
pre-orders is if any modifications are made to the
order prior to release, but after your membership
has expired. These modifications could be updating
the billing address, changing the form of payment,
and others. This is because when a modification is
made it triggers another authorization on your form of
payment, which should recalculate the price if your
GCU membership is no longer active.

$10 reward certs have definitely "coincidentally" picked back up after GCU got canned after having a slow run there for about a year. I don't think that's by accident. With a lot of people having lost or losing their GCU soon, that's a great pre-order incentive to get sales.

I kept track of when the games were added to the promo for 2017 (see this thread). Last year exactly 8 titles were announced in May/June. Same this year, 8 titles for May/June. :)

*note: Far Cry 5 was added in June 2017, but released this year.

Quick question for those that have experience with getting Gold editions that were NOT listed in BB $10 cert email or employees who might know more details
I want to get Shadow of the Tomb Raider Gold but it is not listed in the current email as qualifying while almost every other game on the list specifically shows the gold edition.
Should I be paranoid about not getting the $10 if I get the Gold edition?

I'm trying to pre-order as much as I can on my GCU before it runs out. If my GCU dies before a game is released, but I pre-ordered before my GCU expired I'm good, right?
I suggest preordering with PayPal, so the purchase takes place on the day the order is placed.. otherwise the order takes place when shipped. I have run into problems many times with bb cancelling my orders when they wait to get paid, even though my account had sufficient funds. I know I'm going to rack up my preorders now, my wife keeps threatening to quit her job, and it will be much harder to justify (to her) if I place it afterwards..

Just FYI, beta codes for Fallout went out yesterday, or at least it did for me. For now you just redeem it on your Bethesda account for when it's announced.

I'm assuming you'll still be able to cancel your pre-order if you use the beta code and dislike the game. I want to try 76 but don't want to have to go through the hassle of returning the game if they won't allow cancellations after the code is used. No free beta makes me think they are worried about how the game will be received.

I mean, people have been ordering Amazon copies just for the beta code that's sent immediately, then canceling. BB shouldn't have an issue with you changing your mind based on the beta. If you're really concerned, can always return the game after picking it up.

Didn’t see it with a quick search...

If you buy two copies of the same game do you get two certificates?

Do you need to do two different transactions or just outta luck and one is all you get?

One and done, friend
Thanks for the answer!

Not what I wanted to hear but I ain’t gunna shoot the messenger :)

It’s a bummer. I wanted to order one or two of them but my GCU ran out and I would be using a friend’s. However I think he’s going to get them too.

It is one per account... meaning if you were going to get a physical and a digital, you could use the has-GCU account to get the physical version, and a non-GCU account (since digital doesn't get GCU anyway) to get the digital version, and each account would get their own cert.

I guess it's time to lock in some of these $10 bonus preorders before my GCU expires. :(

Thinking I'll grab Super Smash Bros for sure...

Does anyone who has picked up a game that launched after their GCU expired know yet if the GCU discount holds for those that preordered online before their membership ran out?  There seems to be a lot of confusion over whether you only get the discount by paying the entire balance upfront with paypal or if you preorder with an authorization charge that goes away in a few days and keeps the funds in your account until a game ships.

I ask as I don't have nearly enough money in my account to preorder every single game upfront for the next year all at once, but if we're just talking authorization charges I can probably manage that as they'll go away and I'll keep the money until each title ships.

Madden 19 is $39.99 new on Amazon. If you didn't pre-order in-store, and you are Elite/Elite Plus, this would make it $30 net if you get a price adjustment.

I am having second through on shadow of the tomb raider croft edition.... think it can be sale within a month lol
I'm deciding whether I want to get the regular steelbook now or just wait for the "complete" edition on sale. 7 dlc tombs has kinda soured my excitement for the standard edition b/c 1 ) if i buy and play it now, I will never go back to it and 2) The "tomb raiding" is what interests me the most about the game so I feel like the "roadmap" is full of regret for me.

I still remember when I was excited about DLC and the opportunity to get more of games that I love...how naive I was lol
