Can I pre-order and purchase multiple copies of a
qualifying game and get multiple awards?
No. There is a limit of one (1) award per My Best Buy
member per game title.
What if I pre-ordered a qualifying game before I
saw this offer?
If you pre-ordered a qualifying game before seeing
this offer, you’ll still qualify for the offer as long as
your member ID is attached to the transaction.
When will I receive my $10 reward certificate?
For each qualified purchase, you will receive 500 My
Best Buy points (worth $10 in reward certificates)
credited to your account approximately 15–20 days
after street date or store pickup.
If I pre-order a game now using my GCU and the
game releases after my membership ends, will
I still get the 20% off discount?

For in-store pre-orders, I can definitively say that if
your GCU membership is expired when you
complete your pickup, you will not receive the 20%
discount. This is because in-store pre-orders are not
processed until the time of pickup, and we only
collect an up-front deposit.

Pre-orders made on BestBuy.com are not as cut and
dry as in-store, but it is possible to retain your GCU
discount on a title released after your membership
expires for these types of pre-orders. Reason being,
when you place your pre-order the GCU discount is
calculated up front, and we then pre-authorize the
discounted total with your bank. If all goes well, the
discount can be retained upon release, however,
there is no guarantee.

A sure way to lose the discount on BestBuy.com
pre-orders is if any modifications are made to the
order prior to release, but after your membership
has expired. These modifications could be updating
the billing address, changing the form of payment,
and others. This is because when a modification is
made it triggers another authorization on your form of
payment, which should recalculate the price if your
GCU membership is no longer active.

Well I still didnt get my points for smash, but you all better screen shot with pics for kh 3 with deluxe edition for the 10 dollar credit when they pull this stunt off again
 
I received three $5 certs for no reason that I can think of today.  Used them as quick as I could.  Anyone ever receive certs that they didn't know where they were from before?

Probably 6 months ago I received two $50 certs.  And no clue why I got those either.  I must have a best buy secret lover or something.

I got a $10 certificate for smash and just got another one today for nothing I can think of but I will take it.
 
I haven't received my smash $10 yet. I wonder if they come in waves since there are reports of both getting them and not. I'd prefer not calling about it if it's coming automatically, but i'd also don't want to be gipped...

Actually, I just realized I'm an Elite member with 15 days more return policy then a typical member.

People who got their rewards already, are you guys elite? I think I remember that there's a waiting period for the rewards based on the return window.

Got my smash credit the other day. Didn't get a specific email about it. Just saw I got enough for a $20 credit since I was sitting on 500 pts from another preorder. 

 
I had to call Best Buy about my Smash bonus and got a really nice guy.  He gave me 500 points for the pre-order and then gave me another 500 for the hassle when he noticed I am Elite Plus.

You got $10 for calling in and getting the bonus applied. Them you got another $10 when they automatically applied the preorder bonus to accounts.

So I pre ordered KH3 before my gcu expired but I had to replace my stolen debit card that I used to purchase the game. Would I be able to just update it with customer service or if I do that am I basically rickrolled not being able to keep the gcu discount?

Doesn’t show as cancelled or anything in my purchase list online

For what it's worth, I preordered the Smash CE with controller in August, picked it up on release day, and the bonus points automatically showed up as a separate entry on my rewards history on 12/28.

A friend of mine preordered the digital version the day before release, and the bonus points showed up together with the points from the game, not as a separate entry, on 12/21.

So, just a heads up that the points can show up different ways on your rewards history depending on when/how you preordered.

I preordered the special edition bundle with the controller in August. Didn’t get my automatic points until 12/21.
 
I preordered the standard verion of Smash on the 5th, picked it up on the 12th and received my cert on the 20th. All the points (bonus and game) showed up together in my account. I was surprised that I received my cert so quickly. It took longer with other recent pre-ordered games.
 
Not to derail the Smash points incident discussion, but usually how long before your GCU expires does this 25% off email coupon come? Mine is up in 2 weeks and I've seen where they actually disable the benefit 48 hours before your last day.

Just click on rewards and then 'Rewards History'. It shows how many points you've received for every purchase.
 
What have been your experiences returning brand new items without a receipt at Best Buy? I called up and they told me I would get store credit but I haven't had the best experiences from Best Buy in the past.

Can't if it's opened, but sealed they will give you the lowest sale price in the last 3 months. Typically that's full price but depends on the title. It does get tracked via your state ID but you'd really have to be no-receipt returning things for that to even be a factor. In a pinch, I've had to return things to BB without a receipt and never had an issue. I've turned right around and used it to buy a game with GCU so it actually plays in your favor a bit financially, but again if you abuse it; you will raise red flags obviously.

 
Last 3 months? Really? Well that would stink if true. I can always go and see what the prices of the games would be if I did return them. Might be better off selling them if they give me the lowest sale price after all the holiday sales they had.

Best Buy isn’t supposed to accept returns without receipt, and they give me a huge hassle. Print out an invoice from your order history or something. Or just return it to target/Walmart who will do the no receipt + ID for credit with no hassle.

I called them up and they told me they do. Guess one of those YMMV things. I will be returning Monday or Tuesday so I will update here.

They do (depending on the item). They'll give you lowest sale price while taking your ID. I find the process similar to other retailers.

Yep I tried this today. They would only give me a gift card for the lowest price of the games not the current price of the games so I decided not to return them.
 
Not $10 Rewards related, but thought I'd share anyway. My GCU expires on the 16th, next Wednesday, and I just got the 25% off email earlier today. For everyone who's Gamer's Club is about to end, there's still hope!

With regular/Elite account free shipping... probably yesterday or the day before, since it's showing estimated arrival of Thursday for me today. (I'm guessing it calculates as "1 week before release day")

With Elite Plus, you can still get release day shipping.

My Kingdom Hearts 3 500 bonus points already posted, and I haven't even received the game yet. They posted on the original purchase date (June) in my Rewards History, so I had to do a little bit of searching to bring it up.

When is the right time and where is the right place to screech about not getting it on release day? Seems awful likely at this point.

Cool cool. I'm not gonna jump the gun in case there's a miraculously successful same-day ship situation, but I'm prepped to whine about it tomorrow night.

Edit: Actually did post something, BB guy said "Eh, it can happen. Sorry." and closed the topic. Also got a notification that it is in the process of shipping and should be here tomorrow. Genuine "yay."

I got the notification from Best Buy around 2:30 eastern finally that my game shipped. Strangely I got email about an hour later that my $10 for preordering was already available on my account.
 
I remember a few times a game I’d preordered still hadn’t shipped the day before release and I freaked out and chatted with BB CS. Each time they assured me it was coming and each time it arrived on release day. I think they do a weird thing where it isn’t marked as “shipped” until it gets to your local UPS location. Maybe because they fill orders from nearby store stock? Not really sure, but my KH shipped this evening and I have a UPS confirmation it will be delivered tomorrow. *shrug*

Same. Sometimes I don't even get the shipment notification until like 8-10 PM here in Minnesota but I've yet to have them miss delivery date delivery on a pre-order. Quite the opposite of GameStop.
