▼ Read Me! FAQ ▼ Pre-Order $10 Program
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can I pre-order and purchase multiple copies of a
qualifying game and get multiple awards?
No. There is a limit of one (1) award per My Best Buy
member per game title.
What if I pre-ordered a qualifying game before I
saw this offer?
If you pre-ordered a qualifying game before seeing
this offer, you’ll still qualify for the offer as long as
your member ID is attached to the transaction.
When will I receive my $10 reward certificate?
For each qualified purchase, you will receive 500 My
Best Buy points (worth $10 in reward certificates)
credited to your account approximately 15–20 days
after street date or store pickup.
If I pre-order a game now using my GCU and the
game releases after my membership ends, will
I still get the 20% off discount?
- From BestBuy Support Forums (link):
For in-store pre-orders, I can definitively say that if
your GCU membership is expired when you
complete your pickup, you will not receive the 20%
discount. This is because in-store pre-orders are not
processed until the time of pickup, and we only
collect an up-front deposit.

Pre-orders made on BestBuy.com are not as cut and
dry as in-store, but it is possible to retain your GCU
discount on a title released after your membership
expires for these types of pre-orders. Reason being,
when you place your pre-order the GCU discount is
calculated up front, and we then pre-authorize the
discounted total with your bank. If all goes well, the
discount can be retained upon release, however,
there is no guarantee.

A sure way to lose the discount on BestBuy.com
pre-orders is if any modifications are made to the
order prior to release, but after your membership
has expired. These modifications could be updating
the billing address, changing the form of payment,
and others. This is because when a modification is
made it triggers another authorization on your form of
payment, which should recalculate the price if your
GCU membership is no longer active.

My GCU expires on the 12th and I still haven't gotten a 25% off coupon yet. Did they stop giving those out?
Mine ends on the 11th (as does pretty much everyone that didn't stack years as we are approaching the two year anniversary of it ending) and I haven't gotten the coupon yet either. I'm still trying to figure out my last preorders to lock in the discount.

Hmm, I take that back, just got the coupon.

Yes! I tried a mock checkout and it worked like this:

Game $59.99

GCU discount makes it $47.99

25% code brings the final price down to $35.99 plus tax.
Great. Thanks for checking. I was a bit concerned I would lose the code if I applied it then backed out of the order. Might switch out my Doom Eternal standard edition for the deluxe to get the max value from the coupon.

Question, if u preorder and when it releases, if the item is cheaper within the 15 days, do they pricematch even if the preorder comes with dlc and exclusive steelbook bundle?

Yes but depending on the employee, they may mess up the transaction and actually void the $10 rewards cert. Which you would then have to call again to sort out. It's only happened to me once but I've seen many users here encounter the same thing.

Used my GCU coupon on Avengers... it'll probably go down to a similar price on BF but I enjoyed the TR games so much, I'd like to throw Crystal Dynamics a day-one sale.  That, and it'll give me a $10 reward to use on BF, after which I cannot see myself shopping at Best Buy again without GCU.

What would happen if I preorder RE3 and then return it the next day but keep the steelbook? Would the price of the steelbook (MSRP $20) get deducted from the total making it around $42ish returned back?

GCU running out on the 11th, got most of what I want preordered, but FF7 Remake, RE3 and Last of Us 2 remain on my maybe list.  Thinking they all would be candidates for fairly swift drops (by late summer) and would likely end up backlogged anyways.  Any real good reason to re-think that logic?

No reason not to wait if you're not planning on playing them right away. Everything I pre-ordered will most likely be played immediately.

Best Buy Spring Clearance started early today in stores. Mine had 100+ skus go on clearance this morning and many of them are still full price on the website. Not all the prices are great but clearance games generally aren't restocked so grab anything you've had your eye on. Also keep in mind that clearance prices vary by store.

Here's a few examples of major drops at my store:

:xb1: :ps4: Darksiders III $11.99 ($30 online)

:ps4: F1 2019 $21.99 ($45 online)

:switch: Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna The Golden Country $16.99 ($34 online)

They should have been changed today. You can always check with the Best Buy app. It can tell you are in a store and will show those prices instead of the website ones.

Jeez, anything I'm interested in is nowhere in 250 miles, and the things I don't want are available in abundance.

This is actually really good info, I had no idea the app did this.

Does this also work when the in store prices are higher than the website? I went to buy a movie the other day and it rang up $14.99 in store and when I checked back at home it still said $12.99.

I think so. You might have to go to the website on your browser to see the online prices while in a store.

Yesterday was my last day of GCU, so I went ahead and pre-ordered Doom: Eternal. With the 25% off coupon they gave me for GCU ending plus the remaining GCU discount the game dropped to $39 post-tax. Stack on the $10 in rewards and the Doom 64 freebie and I figure that's a damn good deal.

Hopefully I don't have to wait too long for a release date to be announced.

P5R Phantom Thieves Edition is up for preorder again (ship only, YMMV on in-store pickup) on BB, if folks are wanting the Phantom Thieves Edition.

Potentially dumb question:

I have a physical copy of Animal Crossing pre-ordered for myself, but my wife's gonna want a digital copy for the Coral Switch Lite she'll be receiving on 4/3. If I pre-order a digital copy in addition to the physical copy will I get two $10 reward certificates or does that count as double dipping?

I'm also interested in the answer to this question if anyone knows it.
Ah, seems to be a common question.

Edit: This Best Buy forums link from 2017 seems to imply that it only counts for one $10 certificate, and I doubt it's changed since then.

$9.99 without the game.

My Animal Crossing shipped today with release date shipping, but now it says delayed until Monday. Awwww! :whistle2:

Is it just me or do rewards now expire faster? I looked and one expires in April and another in May.

How has any legitimate gamer not played TLOU?
That’s a very narrow minded divisive statement. There are tons of good games out there and not everyone has the same amount of free time or priorities. It doesn’t make them illegitimate or lesser.

If i preorder Doom today can I still get the 10 rewards certz?
Yeah, typically up until midnight as I recall from the past - as long as the button says "Pre-Order". You obviously won't get release date delivery, you typically have to order a week or so ahead of time for that, release date delivery orders shipped yesterday along with the steelbooks.

Said this before in the PSN thread but I gave it two chances and it didn't hold my attention very long either time. I prefer solid gameplay over a strong narrative and TLoU is very lacking in the former in my opinion.
The game is a slow burn. It actually get really good when it's just Joel and Ellie.

Gcu ends tomorrow. Still haven't received the 25% off coupon. When did everyone get theirs?
I never got mine. Seems most people get it 5-7 days before their gcu expires. I contacted BB forum mods, and other than telling me the obvious of checking my spam folder, they replied that coupon recipients are selected randomly (bs, almost everyone seems to get it) and they can't do anything about it. I think the automated system that sends out the coupon email may hiccup every so often, and they're too lazy to send out a replacement manually.
