▼ Read Me! FAQ ▼ Pre-Order $10 Program
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can I pre-order and purchase multiple copies of a
qualifying game and get multiple awards?
No. There is a limit of one (1) award per My Best Buy
member per game title.
What if I pre-ordered a qualifying game before I
saw this offer?
If you pre-ordered a qualifying game before seeing
this offer, you’ll still qualify for the offer as long as
your member ID is attached to the transaction.
When will I receive my $10 reward certificate?
For each qualified purchase, you will receive 500 My
Best Buy points (worth $10 in reward certificates)
credited to your account approximately 15–20 days
after street date or store pickup.
If I pre-order a game now using my GCU and the
game releases after my membership ends, will
I still get the 20% off discount?
- From BestBuy Support Forums (link):
For in-store pre-orders, I can definitively say that if
your GCU membership is expired when you
complete your pickup, you will not receive the 20%
discount. This is because in-store pre-orders are not
processed until the time of pickup, and we only
collect an up-front deposit.

Pre-orders made on BestBuy.com are not as cut and
dry as in-store, but it is possible to retain your GCU
discount on a title released after your membership
expires for these types of pre-orders. Reason being,
when you place your pre-order the GCU discount is
calculated up front, and we then pre-authorize the
discounted total with your bank. If all goes well, the
discount can be retained upon release, however,
there is no guarantee.

A sure way to lose the discount on BestBuy.com
pre-orders is if any modifications are made to the
order prior to release, but after your membership
has expired. These modifications could be updating
the billing address, changing the form of payment,
and others. This is because when a modification is
made it triggers another authorization on your form of
payment, which should recalculate the price if your
GCU membership is no longer active.

Does the Doom 64 pre-order bonus come in a separate email? Been a while since I've pre-ordered at Best Buy. Just picked it up and don't see anything.

Said this before in the PSN thread but I gave it two chances and it didn't hold my attention very long either time. I prefer solid gameplay over a strong narrative and TLoU is very lacking in the former in my opinion.
Did you try a hard difficulty? The gameplay is great on hard or survivor.

There wasn't any code inside the box? If not, I suspect emails might go out starting tomorrow because that's technically still the release date.

I got the deluxe edition, and inside was a Fallout 76 ad (lol), what passes for a manual nowadays, and the deluxe edition code (year one pass, Demonic Slayer skin, and classic weapon sound pack). I don't have the Rip & Tear Pack code or Doom 64 code, both of the pre-order bonuses.

I got an email from Best Buy with the code to DOOM 64 and some pre-order bonus DLC for DOOM Eternal all within the same code, as in 1 single code for both downloads. Got it after I picked up my game, XB1 if anyone is curious.

It's been a while but I believe I played on Normal.

Right. If I don't get my code by Saturday, I'll post on the Best Buy support forums.

Well shoot.

I still have the steelbook coming in tomorrow so my order isn't technically completed according to the app, so maybe that's why I have gotten it yet.

I also received my Xbox One code for the Rip and Tear pack as well as Doom 64 (which is already live, by the way). I placed my order late last night and Eternal isn’t expected to arrive until Monday, so 64 will be tiding me over.

I had Doom preordered at best buy and didn't get an email saying I can pick it up. Still shows on the website as pick up tomorrow.
You probably won't until morning when employees arrive. That doesn't get sent until they actually pull the item and put the sticker on it. Many times employees don't want to stay late to do that crap.

Anyone in the California area know if stores will be open tomorrow for pick ups?  There was a recently announced statewide "stay at home" order except for "essential needs," but I don't think Best Buy falls under "essential."

Just curious since I'd have to switch my order to shipping instead, unless it's already too late to do so. :whistle2:k

best buy, in some places, has been labeled as "essential" due to work at home items they sell

I think from what I read the order was issued today but that retail stores had one day to prepare so possibly you could still go tomorrow?

I thought someone mentioned that Best Buy is considered an essential store because they have stuff that helps you get connected to the internet and have products that help you work from home.

I think that was me lol. Wasn't sure if California had different rules or guidelines on what's considered essential or an essential store. You're right though they are probably going to be open.

Honestly I don't know if Best Buy is considered essential or not. It could be Best Buy management blowing smoke to try and stay open.

Best Buy *might* have a point. I've heard of stores being slammed with monitor sales and tech repair. The real joke is GameStop claiming the same immunity: https://www.engadget.com/2020/03/20/gamestop-essential/

The are rightfully getting blasted by every major media outlet.

What does hard difficulty do differently? Does it make the experience more realistic, or does it do things like make human enemies into bullet sponges?

TLOU is unfortunately one of the “must-play” games that I haven’t quite gotten around to playing yet...

I got the pickup order for Animal Crossing but not my Doom Eternal Deluxe edition. I went to the store and grabbed AC and was told they didn't get any of the deluxe editions. I then got an email saying I could pick it up at another near by store today so I changed my pick up to that store and then got an email saying it would be available tomorrow.

Preorders are actually picked an hour before open the day before release but they don't push the emails out until an hour after closing so people don't show up early after not reading it clearly. ;)

You probably know better than I do, but many times I don't get the email until the morning of an hour or so before open. I've gotten them the night before a well, so I dunno. Just was saying it was not a reason to worry as I have gotten them on the day of pickup prior to open before.

Yeah they are considered "essential," similar to grocery stores (at least that is what I was told). In addition, the manager stated all CA stores will be closed to the public starting next week until further notice. Store/Curbside pickup will be the only option, where employees will hand items to customers at the front entrance.

Yes it makes it harder and more realistic. They don’t play around. You can actually get killed, they don’t miss if you’re out in the open. Also they take away your “hearing” mode or whatever it’s called which shows u the enemies around you

Shit, they didn't even bother to send my Steelbook, those lazy bastards. I have to go to a store and demand one tomorrow

Interesting. I’m guessing that the “hearing mode” you speak of is like detective vision in the Batman Arkham games or instinct mode in the new Hitman games?

Also, would you recommend hard mode for a new player? Or would a new player be missing out on part of the game by not having access to that hearing mode?

I beat it on normal at first I guess. I guess play that or Hard. Clickers could be annoying on hard but it’s up to u if your up for the challenge and/or if you wanna earn trophies and platinum the game. Also that probably means low supply too so you have to save whatever ammo u get for situations where u really need em just like resident evil. I recommend normal unless u want a challenge and story mode longevity

according to my sister her Best Buy in NJ will be closing. I can't believe im saying this but should the game be delayed i'd much rather wait for its arrival than cough up the $$ for a digital copy

Anyone else preorder Animal Crossing digital and not get the $10 yet? I know you usually have to wait, but some people said that they got their $10 for the physical copy already. Also, my digital prouder did this weird thing and jumped the release date back to February 2020 for some reason, so now my order details shows a Feb. 2020 date as when I got the product.

Seems like Best Buy is doing the right thing by their employees by making work voluntary, giving temporary pay raises to those that do choose to work and paying people who are home sick. Everybody that has to leave their home to work should be making time-and-a-half until this is over.
