▼ Read Me! FAQ ▼ Pre-Order $10 Program
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can I pre-order and purchase multiple copies of a
qualifying game and get multiple awards?
No. There is a limit of one (1) award per My Best Buy
member per game title.
What if I pre-ordered a qualifying game before I
saw this offer?
If you pre-ordered a qualifying game before seeing
this offer, you’ll still qualify for the offer as long as
your member ID is attached to the transaction.
When will I receive my $10 reward certificate?
For each qualified purchase, you will receive 500 My
Best Buy points (worth $10 in reward certificates)
credited to your account approximately 15–20 days
after street date or store pickup.
If I pre-order a game now using my GCU and the
game releases after my membership ends, will
I still get the 20% off discount?
- From BestBuy Support Forums (link):
For in-store pre-orders, I can definitively say that if
your GCU membership is expired when you
complete your pickup, you will not receive the 20%
discount. This is because in-store pre-orders are not
processed until the time of pickup, and we only
collect an up-front deposit.

Pre-orders made on BestBuy.com are not as cut and
dry as in-store, but it is possible to retain your GCU
discount on a title released after your membership
expires for these types of pre-orders. Reason being,
when you place your pre-order the GCU discount is
calculated up front, and we then pre-authorize the
discounted total with your bank. If all goes well, the
discount can be retained upon release, however,
there is no guarantee.

A sure way to lose the discount on BestBuy.com
pre-orders is if any modifications are made to the
order prior to release, but after your membership
has expired. These modifications could be updating
the billing address, changing the form of payment,
and others. This is because when a modification is
made it triggers another authorization on your form of
payment, which should recalculate the price if your
GCU membership is no longer active.

There's a thread in the Best Buy Gaming Support forums to send a DM to a Best Buy moderator that will message you the missing DLC code.  It's worked in the past for me when something did not work out exactly right on their end.  Since I preordered prior to the Doom 64 DLC being offered, I think that might have something to do with the whole issue.

FYI I received my copy of Doom Eternal on Friday & I already have the 500 points in my Best Buy Rewards account (Elite Plus) just in case you haven't checked for it.

I messaged them a few hours. We'll sees what happens. I got the $10 rewards and the game came Friday. Just waiting on codes.

Do you guys know if you change your order from In Store Pickup to Shipping does that invalidate the GCU discount? Obviously mine is expired but I had ordered FF7R with it but at this point I'm not sure it that's worth me traveling to my local Best Buy to get it but I kind of want tot keep the discount on the deluxe edition.

Thanks!

Changed 3 orders from pickup to shipping last week and kept the discount.

After my doom eternal didn't ship with a Steelbook because the dipshit who processed the orders online removed them, i was talking to the store manager and trying to, and failing to, finagle one, that told me the reason the GCU discount falls off is because when you change the payment type, technically they have to process it as a return to the old card and a new purchase with the new card number, and if you don't have the discount anymore, then it gets recharged with the new price without the discount

You could always post on the Best Buy forums & see if they can send you one directly instead. I have had prior issues with Best Buy in store that was resolved by posting in the forums (I had a preorder held for me sold & the game was sold out everywhere; someone on the forums located a copy & had it shipped to the store).

It sucks that I never received the 25% off GCU coupon. My GCU expires on 3/28. I’m pre-ordering some of the Switch games that were announced today and that is it.

RIP GCU...

Did anyone who preordered doom eternal get their doom 64 with it?
I did from Best Buy. If I recall right, it plus all the Doom Eternal DLC was redeemed with a single code.

Edit: Wait, I may have lied. I think the pre-order DLC was in the box for the Deluxe Edition? I don’t know - I haven’t opened my copy up yet because I still haven’t decided if I wanted to try and get the Collector’s Edition instead. Either way, the pre-order DLC isn’t showing up in my download list - but if it’s just an unlock instead of a download, I don’t know if it would show up there or not.

After messaging on the support board I only got the DLC code. Was I also supposed to get Doom 64 with the standard PS4 Edition?

So what happens if I preordered a game (in my case, Persona 5 Royal PHE) for in stock pickup and it says OOS, during this COVID situation?

They should still have a copy reserved for you. I got the generic email that they were preparing my item, and then got another email saying it was ready.. for curbside pickup, so they automatically switched it from in-store to that.

I've never done curbside pickup before but it seems straightforward, guess we'll see tomorrow.

It’s very easy. Open your email, click the yellow link saying “how to check in at curbside”, then on that page click “I’m at the store”.

Never got a preparing email. I got an email saying they didnt have enough stock for it and it will be open for a week and if nothing, it will be cancelled in a week. And I can't switch it to shipping or anything.

I would call your store and see if they can figure it out. It's possible they have a bunch of boxes from UPS/FedEx that they haven't scanned in yet.

Yep! Just came home from the store, all I had to do was park in one of the number spots they've placed. Had an associate walk up to me and ask my last name and item name. Then after retrieving it was asked to confirm the number that the page gave me when I selected "I'm at the store." EZPZ.

Ah that sucks, have you tried giving them a call to see whats up? Regardless, sorry to hear that.. Hope you get your game!

I initially did a in store pick up for RE3 but changed it to shipping instead. It says it will arrive Friday but I’m still waiting for an official shipping confirmation email.

Here in my County in CA they just issued a new order and it shuts down Best Buys too. I'm not sure if I should leave my FF7 order alone or try and get them to ship it instead now since they won't even allow curbside after today. Only reason I keep it is that it was a gift card alongside my last GCU discount stacked with my 20% off GCU expiring code too.

Damn that sucks. Can you link an article describing the additional shut down or provide details about the additional measure? My state has a full shelter in place since last week. Not sure if they will be following California additional measure.

If you ordered online for in-store pickup, changing to to shipping shouldn't remove your GCU discount

Same here. Hopefully they will ship tomorrow or Thursday at the latest. I am not in a big rush to get RE3 but if there's a delay on FF7 Remake, I'm going digital.

EDIT: My RE3 shipped this morning.

I swear that RE3 had the $10 preorder bonus. Am I imagining that? I checked the home page and it’s not listed. Ugh.

Ditto on no 25% end of GCU consolation code. My gaming habits have shifted a bit though, so echoing folks in the XBL forum, thank goodness for GP.

Please be safe out there everyone.

Strangely enough, RE3 never had the $10 promo attached, so don't worry about whether you missed it. I preordered the game mainly for the steelbook.

Since I've always been burned by square enix preorders in the past (KH3 deluxe being massively produced and cheaper later than more collectable), I'm on the fence keeping my FF7 deluxe preorder from best buy. It's my last GCU preorder for a game and is $64 with the $10 back. I know I won't play it for a long time and am mainly torn because it isn't even the real game, just a chapter of it.

Any advice to keep for collectability due to the current environment, or will this be on firesale like KH3 deluxe after a few months?

What are you collecting for, is it for your personal collection or is it an investment? If you want investment go buy index funds. Video games CE are not good investment.

Personal, never an investment. My collection goes back 20+ years. I’ve never once sold any game or CE that I own. Actually don’t believe in it and despise flipping and reselling.

It’s more of a ‘knowing I own it’ thing. Some of the rare books and CEs I own I know are worth many hundreds of dollars. And even knowing how super rare some items are, I would never sell them even for 10x the value.

Regarding FF7 remake, I don’t want to regret cancelling it and then six months from now I won’t be able to buy it. Though knowing SE nothing they produce is rare or collectible. My KH3 deluxe is still sitting on my shelf sealed.

Did RE3 come with a download code for something? I just got an email from BB with a code. Not sure if it's from RE3 or from DOOM for DOOM64 (which I already has CS generate a code for me)

Apparently Best Buy is doing an early release for FFVII Remake between 3PM - 6PM local time on April 9th.
