▼ Read Me! FAQ ▼ Pre-Order $10 Program
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can I pre-order and purchase multiple copies of a
qualifying game and get multiple awards?
No. There is a limit of one (1) award per My Best Buy
member per game title.
What if I pre-ordered a qualifying game before I
saw this offer?
If you pre-ordered a qualifying game before seeing
this offer, you’ll still qualify for the offer as long as
your member ID is attached to the transaction.
When will I receive my $10 reward certificate?
For each qualified purchase, you will receive 500 My
Best Buy points (worth $10 in reward certificates)
credited to your account approximately 15–20 days
after street date or store pickup.
If I pre-order a game now using my GCU and the
game releases after my membership ends, will
I still get the 20% off discount?
- From BestBuy Support Forums (link):
For in-store pre-orders, I can definitively say that if
your GCU membership is expired when you
complete your pickup, you will not receive the 20%
discount. This is because in-store pre-orders are not
processed until the time of pickup, and we only
collect an up-front deposit.

Pre-orders made on BestBuy.com are not as cut and
dry as in-store, but it is possible to retain your GCU
discount on a title released after your membership
expires for these types of pre-orders. Reason being,
when you place your pre-order the GCU discount is
calculated up front, and we then pre-authorize the
discounted total with your bank. If all goes well, the
discount can be retained upon release, however,
there is no guarantee.

A sure way to lose the discount on BestBuy.com
pre-orders is if any modifications are made to the
order prior to release, but after your membership
has expired. These modifications could be updating
the billing address, changing the form of payment,
and others. This is because when a modification is
made it triggers another authorization on your form of
payment, which should recalculate the price if your
GCU membership is no longer active.

Now with sluggish sales, they need to bring GCU back..........................
It's ironic for me but now that Game Pass has completely spoiled me, I don't plan to buy nearly as many games so GCU died at just the right time for me. Coincidentally, I haven't been shopping at BB since it died either. I should probably be using up those certs I have soon. . .

Anyone buy an open box controller from BB? Any thoughts on it?  I'm looking at one that's "Open-Box Excellent" for $15 less.

Said this before in the PSN thread but I gave it two chances and it didn't hold my attention very long either time. I prefer solid gameplay over a strong narrative and TLoU is very lacking in the former in my opinion.
What exactly isn't 'solid' about the game play? The controls are tight. The combat is very responsive and visceral. What am I missing?

So many exclusions. I was able to get a discount on specific ps4 orders but not ghost of tsushima lol
I used my 10% off coupon off the ghost of tsushima collectors edition, but those bastards canceled it. I got it back though. I was waffling between Cadence of Hyrule or the Prinny collection, and ended up choosing Prinny, dood.

Has anyone pre-ordered any games for shipping lately? If so, have you received it on release day?

Looking to get 2K21 and Madden but for shipping, they both say 'expected to ship by (release day)'.

I haven't had a single release arrive on release day from Best Buy since May or so. Most games stay in preparing to ship for a week and show up seven days after the release date. I am Elite Plus and always pre-order far in advance. I'm also in Southern California, so maybe our local distribution centers are just really, really slow. It wasn't this way before as in the past two years, I think I only had maybe one or two games that didn't show up on release day.

That's odd - I've always had pre-orders arrive on release, especially since it would say 'arrive on release day' under shipping option. Now, says it's expected to ship by then.

But the person previous to you reported it arrived on release. I'll give it a shot and see.

The last few months, if I had a game that was set to arrive on a Friday (release date was a Friday), Best Buy hasn't bothered to ship until the night before, and I wouldn't get them until Monday or Tuesday the next week. Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last of Us Pt II, Iron Man VR, Ghost of Tsushima.

Tuesday releases, though, would arrive on release date.

In my experience I always get my games on release day from Best Buy. I don't know how they do it though as they seem to ship them out at the last possible chance (usually the night before release). Not sure if it makes a difference but I have Elite Plus and my games get shipped from the NY warehouse.

I always got my games on release day or the day before

Since everyone else is saying their experience, my Best Buy preorders usually ship the day before release and arrive on release day “before 8 pm”. But I must be near the end of somebody’s UPS route, because it’s almost always at the later end of that spectrum. But it seems they keep going after 8, cause I have received two games at 9 pm.

It depends on when you pre-order. If you do so within two weeks of release, you might get it after release day and the shipping typically reflects that. Anything ordered prior to that has pretty much always arrived on release day.

COD did get added, except the PS5/XBX versions don't have an official release date. So there's a risk that BB won't release those games until the PS5/XBX actually have release dates.

Yet another mess created by the fact that neither console has a release date yet and it's September 1st.

Pretty sure you are screwed either way - if you update it or a CSR updates it you will lose the GCU discount. I'd love to be wrong about that, but I don't think the system will allow the payment change without running the order again and this time you don't have GCU.

Like you said there is a slight chance a CSR will manually adjust the price back down if you explain it to them, but it won't happen automatically, and I wouldn't count on it.

You're screwed. Kiss that GCU discount goodbye!

I agree with the others. You’re screwed, unless you can get a CSR to manually adjust after the fact. Gonna be tough, most likely.

My GCU expired over a year ago, but I dealt with an expired card and had a CSR adjust it and they assured me that the discount would remain. Once they updated the card the discount was gone and I asked if they could adjust it and they wouldn't because I didn't have GCU anymore... So I was SOL. I hope you have better luck than me.
Just an update from like a month and a half ago. I did get Best Buy to add a payment method to my GCU order over the phone, they didn't update the existing payment but added another credit card to the order. But the card was compromised a few weeks ago and I had to get a new one. I of course forgot to update the order with the new card number and earlier this week I got an email saying the payment method failed, which in hindsight made perfect sense. So, I called Best Buy...Again.... Lol

They added a 3rd payment method, but it never showed that it took the payment (or an authorization charge). It finally did today and shows the proper price. Aka didn't lose the discount

I had an interesting situation come up. I grabbed the Avengers for PS4, while I still had my GCU discount. I got my shipping notification, but instead of just getting the $10 reward cert, i got $20. I checked and in addition to the $10 cert for the game, it had "$10 certificate with Marvel's Endgame preorder" listed as well.

I had grabbed the movie for last years black friday sale, and wasn't expecting this pleasant surprise. I used it for the Mario 3d all stars in case they changed thier minds, but you may want to check to see if you got both certs as well.

Damn I might have kept my preorder had I known that with GCU that wouldn't have been bad.

I just checked and also got $20 instead of just $10 for preordering Marvel's Avengers, apparently it looks like Square Enix games get double certificates as FF 7 Remake also gave $20 instead of $10

I double checked and I didn't actually get avengers endgame from best buy, it wasn't in my order history, probably got it from Walmart. Glad to see others also get the $20 reward.

Boo, I only got a $10 reward for Avengers (and same for FF7 Remake back when that came out).

I also got a fairly well damaged free steelbook case that arrived today. I didn't notice it was dinged in the corner until taking the wrapper off of it. But once open, became apparent that the inner plastic tray is loose from the outer steel on one side. Has anyone had luck with exchanging these in the store? I wasn't sure they would have extras since they were just for preorders... also not sure I even want to go in and bother with it.

Now I almost wish I didn’t cancel my preorder, but the reviews from the beta didn’t look good.
The final game is supposed to be much better than the beta. I really had no interest in the game because I despise Disney and the only Marvel character I like is Spiderman. I watched several 'impressions' videos of the final game from YT channels I trust and they all praised the game. It doesn't hurt that it's developed by the Tomb Raider team and I loved those games. I decided to preorder it on Thursday.

I am still waiting for the $10 in points from Avengers. Am I the only one waiting for those still?
I'm still waiting too

Edit....

Actually I'm lying. I double checked and I got my points back in February when I pre-ordered. Also got $20

Has anyone gotten their $10 for Avengers and NBA 2k21?

I am still waiting for them...

Also, does anyone know a BB phone number where the customer service is actually competent? Every single time I called, it's like they don't know anything about BB and its rewards/promos and end up being really unhelpful. It's kinda annoying since every call takes about 30m or so

NBA 2K21 wasn't on the list - I don't think any sports game has been on the list in a while. No FIFA or Madden like years past.

I didn't get $10 from Avengers, I got $20 and it posted about a week or two after I received my game
