▼ Read Me! FAQ ▼ Pre-Order $10 Program
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can I pre-order and purchase multiple copies of a
qualifying game and get multiple awards?
No. There is a limit of one (1) award per My Best Buy
member per game title.
What if I pre-ordered a qualifying game before I
saw this offer?
If you pre-ordered a qualifying game before seeing
this offer, you’ll still qualify for the offer as long as
your member ID is attached to the transaction.
When will I receive my $10 reward certificate?
For each qualified purchase, you will receive 500 My
Best Buy points (worth $10 in reward certificates)
credited to your account approximately 15–20 days
after street date or store pickup.
If I pre-order a game now using my GCU and the
game releases after my membership ends, will
I still get the 20% off discount?
- From BestBuy Support Forums (link):
For in-store pre-orders, I can definitively say that if
your GCU membership is expired when you
complete your pickup, you will not receive the 20%
discount. This is because in-store pre-orders are not
processed until the time of pickup, and we only
collect an up-front deposit.

Pre-orders made on BestBuy.com are not as cut and
dry as in-store, but it is possible to retain your GCU
discount on a title released after your membership
expires for these types of pre-orders. Reason being,
when you place your pre-order the GCU discount is
calculated up front, and we then pre-authorize the
discounted total with your bank. If all goes well, the
discount can be retained upon release, however,
there is no guarantee.

A sure way to lose the discount on BestBuy.com
pre-orders is if any modifications are made to the
order prior to release, but after your membership
has expired. These modifications could be updating
the billing address, changing the form of payment,
and others. This is because when a modification is
made it triggers another authorization on your form of
payment, which should recalculate the price if your
GCU membership is no longer active.

Best Buy CSRs are sometimes so terrible. I tried to price match darksiders this morning and they guy said great news we can pm that! Then he sent me a checkout link that was literally the regular price. I’m like bro, did you forget to price match. 🤷‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Support told me the PS5 Watch Dogs bonus won’t post until January 15th? I don’t understand how it’s so hard to get a rep that’s aware of this promo enough to actually help

They're sticking by the 15-20 days for the rewards on the forums. I'll wait a few more days before I ask them about it.
I thought if you’re getting the $10 cert for sure the points would still be pending right now instead of giving you 73 points right now then 500 later after 15 days

It happens that way sometimes, but other times it's like this....

I'm OK with waiting for a few more days as those rewards aren't getting spent this minute anyway.

The steelbook for Cyberpunk arrived and is nice, but the actual game isn't being delivered until 12/12. Guess that's what happens when you don't pre-order in time... ordered December 2019 :\

-Update-

Contacted BB customer support. Rep said they didn't have the game to ship out until 12/10 and they never said it would be coming release day. The product page had release date delivery on it, I got an email on 12/8 saying both the game and steelbook had shipped, and the game is freakin in stock at their stores (meaning they did have it on hand before 12/10). Not like I had to play the game today, but still annoys me when they don't offer proper service. At least say something like covid is slowing down shipping rather than feed me bs.

So I just double checked my RZ points and they gave me two 500 pre order bonuses for CyberPunk, so 1000 pts.  I hope they dont take them back.

I’ve never gotten double RZ points on any of these games that have glitches, so I have no idea what I should do differently.

Then again, in my head I almost always double count the credit, wrongly thinking I get the discount on this game, and then later I get a discount when I spend it. Does that count?

Picked up my copy and steelbook at lunch, but see no points yet, will give it a day then contact them.
When did you preorder it? If you preordered it recently, give it about 15-20 days from the date of the order. If you preordered it months in advance, it should have already posted to your account when it was shipped/picked up.

if you read my next post I check an hour later and had double points 1000.

Edit-the install is brutal with 2 discs, then another 46GB update, haven't even got to play yet.

Just checked my account and Cyberpunk 2077 also gets double rewards points so you get 1000 instead of 500 equaling $20 in certificates, sweet deal for those who preordered it

My RZ account auto issued a $30 cert and I got confused, then realized I got the double points on cyberpunk as well.

Still waiting on PS5 Watch Dogs as well.

Didn’t get double points for Cyberpunk. How did you guys get double points? Did you pre order during some specific time?

I got my pc copy of cyberpunk from BB with GCU applied even after it expired due to pre-ordering. Once my other pre-orders go through from before my GCU expired, I will be 99% done with shopping at BB. Canceling GCU gives me no reason to really shop there any more. I would find other things to get while there.

I can just shop at Target and Amazon now and be fine.

cool story bro.

Indeed

I use my BB card for different things, but still manage to use it there a lot. If I stop going there, no need to use it any more.
Weird flex. Best Buy is not going to miss you at all to be honest. I mean the swipe fees on $22K are pretty tiny once you subtract out the bank/credit card company share and the money BB didn't make on each game you bought with GCU. I mean BB has had record revenue and profits this year with almost nobody still having GCU, so I think they'll do just fine without you and without GCU even if it does suck for gamers.

I wasn’t trying to flex. I was just pointing out that I go there to look at games and purchase other stuff while there, which they would make even more profit from. Heck, I stopped going to their website (pandemic cut back going into the store some but I have been able to go as they have been open) and cut back spending there drastically since I can order from Amazon and get it much faster for the same price. I buy more than games. Purchasing games was a small amount of what I spent. I would grab stuff for my kids while there that they would express an interest in.

You are right though, the 22k isn’t much in the grand scheme of things but I am not the only one that has stopped looking there.

On a side note, the Best Buy I have gone to turned out to be way better than the Circuit City it put out of business.

Nobody gives a shit about your revenue. They only care about net profits.
Cool story bro.

All companies care about revenue as well as profits. Foot traffic generates revenue which in turn generates profits. Home Depot and Lowe’s have similar price matching policies due to wanting the revenue even at taking a loss in hopes of generating future profits from that revenue loss of a sale.

All companies care about profits to stay in business, but they have to generate revenue to make those profits.

You didn’t read what I said. I said nobody gives a shit about YOUR revenue.

Feel free to get the last word in. I don’t care. My point is nobody gives a shit how much you spend. Anywhere.

No double rewards when I picked mine up. That would have been the only saving grace for me keeping the game since it would have been about $20 after GCU and the $20 in rewards. That's all I'd pay for Cyberpunk after they pulled this stunt. Shame on them.

Now I'm still waiting for BB to ship the steelbook so I can return the game. I've honestly had no problems with all the other retailers, despite conditions but BB takes the cake this year for being complete trash.

Mods on Best Buy forum deleted a post I made asking about it. Have not responded to PM either.
I responded to your post, they locked the other post about Watch Dogs Legion too, I’m assuming they didn’t send to anyone for this game yet. I PM’d them and haven’t gotten a response but will update here if/when I do

Same. Some chat customer person told me there was never a promotion for $10 back. I told him I would send him a screenshot and he had no way to receive it. Sent a message to the forum people.

I still haven't opened my copy of watch dogs so I'll return it if they won't honor the $10 but its lame that they're being difficult about it

Same, $30 was a good deal, but the extra $10 was enough to get me to jump now. I have enough to play to wait for this to get down to $20 if they don't honor it.

My 73 points posted long ago so I don’t expect a 500 points to magically appear now. I’ll try to go on forums and if that’s crap I’ll have to give them a call about it

I’m gonna do the same. At this point I don’t give a fuck about the $10. It’s now about the principle of the matter. I fucking hate bait and switch bullshit.

For those of you still waiting on the $10 for Watch Dogs here is a link to the forum where people are complaining about it. The Mod said he locked the thread and to PM him your info as the solution, see the very last post for what specifically is needed

https://forums.bestbuy.com/t5/Gamers-Club/Watch-Dogs-Legion-PS5-Preorder-10-Reward/m-p/1371126#M35584
Tried to send a PM, got an error saying there was "invalid HTML" in the message body that was removed and to try again, now I get the error "You have reached the limit for number of private messages that you can send for now. Please try again later." and there isn't anything new in my Sent Messages. Great support website you got there, Best Buy.

EDIT: Tried again and successfully sent the PM. Thanks for the forum link.
