I recall a while back Best Buy had some promotion where bringing in essentially any old electronic device would get you a $5 GC. I was just wondering if that was still ongoing or if there is any news about it.

Apparently there are some places that charge people to bring in old stuff to recycle :hot:

Even if Best Buy doesn't give anything they will at least let us dump stuff there right? I think Staples may also recycle old stuff too.
Hmm, I have a couple old flip phones I've just stored and never used.

Would that net me a gift card?
Yes. As long as phone turns on. I traded in an old phone I had, and nobody knew about this promotion going on. It took about 5 people to finally figure it out.
Sounds like a $5 bonus in addition to the trade value, if the product qualifies. I'm sure its a huge rip off.
Actually you get a $5 gift card for bestbuy to recycle your old phones. It's not a $5 bonus on trade.

Unfortunately for me, the two closest BestBuys cannot take part in the deal due to county laws, despite them having a cell phone recycle bin right inside the door.

They would not take my old sansa mp3 players. They took a locked up ipod nano, a cheap o digital camera, and a chocolate phone though

Amazing things happen when you search google using very basic terms, try it sometime. ;)
I knew BB took stuff so that "Google it" shit isn't warranted.

Saw this a few days ago but thought it lasted longer. Hopefully I can get rid of a few phones.

I would not take anything to BB recycling that has any type of personal info on it. If you remember the CAG that was wrongly accused by MS of hacking last year, it was found out by MS/him that his console ID that he had given to BB to recycle when he bought a Slim 360 (back then GS wouldn't take RROD systems) was the one that had been doing the hacking, but MS didn't check to see if was from a different IP/ISP.

Don't get mad, bro. You asked two questions, a basic google search answered your second one. ^

Buuuut you knew that already, I guess? You have an interesting way to show it.

Link? need some laughs

Hmm I do have two old and worthless phones, might have a "digital camera" that only works when plugged into a computer still too. Would be nice to get Jurassic Park 3D for $5 with those and my reward zone $5 and trade & save.
