Just got this email:

The game is changing. New benefits. New rewards.
It's a whole new way to play the game.

Reward Zone® Gamers Club is leveling up. On September 12, 2011,
you will begin earning double points on new game software, including
digital content and accessories purchases. Plus, for $14.99 per year,
you can join the optional paid level—Gamers Club Unlocked—where
you'll enjoy access to even greater benefits: REWARD ZONE GAMERS CLUB
• A free subscription to @Gamer, the exclusive gaming magazine

• 10% off all pre-owned software purchases

• 10% bonus credit on trade-in software

• Reward Zone Gamers Club exclusive offers
Between now and September 11, 2011, you will continue to earn 500 bonus points for every $150 you spend on video games, PC games and video game accessories at Best Buy® stores or BestBuy.com®.

Then on September 12, 2011, you'll automatically be part of the new Reward Zone Gamers Club. And you'll have the opportunity to visit a Best Buy store and 'level up' to Reward Zone Gamers Club Unlocked. And because you’ve been a loyal Gamers Club member, we want to give you a preview of the new club. So going back to June 1, 2011, you'll also earn double points on all new software and accessories purchases.

All this plus the Reward Zone points you earn every day for nearly all your Best Buy purchases, including gaming hardware. For the latest Reward Zone Gamers Club information, visit MyRZ.com.

I'm not sure if the doubling points thing actually benefits us. The way it's worded, it sounds like they'll be getting rid of the 500 bonus points for every $150 in game purchases. Which means double point purchases is actually a downgrade since we'll get 300 points instead of 500 points for every $150 spent.

The $15 a year thing is the same price as a @Gamer magazine subscription right now. Not sure if the 10% saved on trade ins and preowned games would be worth it enough.

Is there a way they can fix it though? Is the code on the receipt the same? Should I go back to Best Buy find the guy who serviced me, get the brochure and then re-scan?

You could get them to scan the brochure and your RZ card then manually override the price. If you can find the same guy, that would help.
Also, if you kept the top part of the coupon insert, that would help too. Especially if you need to explain to a new person.

Thanks for the heads up. I got the unlock, but they didn't register my rz card so it's just out there in limbo apparently. Gonna have to get it straitened out.

i went in and the guy had literally no clue about what the coupon was for...nor did anyone in the store for that matter. They eventually did something with it, and i got a receipt, but its not showing unlocked on mine...did i potentially get screwed?

I think thats what happened to me today. The receipt doesn't show my account number on it anywhere, even though i saw the guy scan the card.
On the receipt you need the coupon code that you received with your mag, the code from the Unlocked card and your Rz card. If you don't have all of those, it didn't go through.
This

Sucks... JUST got the mag last night (it's the first one in my subscription - I did it in July) and it had no codes in it - it just had an address label on the front of the mag. I won't fucking pay for this if it doesn't work to give it to me with a brand new sub from July.

I wouldn't be expecting to see the double points from June till Mid October or 30-35 days AFTER 9/12 even on the older stuff just a one time points drop.

Just made $12.40 from RZ Unlocked in a trade, so it has nearly paid for itself for me. I don't normally trade in games, but Best Buy's prices are decent to the point that it makes flipping a good option right now.

What's funny about the @gamer magazine where they include your coupon is that it's wrapped in the half black plastic and looks like you ordered a porn magazine.

that's exactly what I thought when I received it.

I had the same issue with them ringing up just the coupon and the RZ card earlier in the week. Yesterday, I went down to correct the situation. The clerk there was new, wound up calling the Gaming Supervisor at home and was told to call BB Customer Service.

I said no way, wound up talking with the manager on duty, who then proceeded to ring the transaction without the same SKU and told me that I was incorrect. After I pointed out the coupon SKU was not on the transaction she just rung up, she tried the SKU and magically it worked. No apology from the manager on duty, but who gives a fuck.

The clerk that rung me up on Tuesday admitted to me yesterday that he did the same thing (just scanned the coupon & RZ card) with at least five other people. Guess what I received in my e-mail today, a welcome message to the Unlocked program as of yesterday's date....

I had to drive to one store to get the brochure and then back to the store where the original transaction occurred. It's done now and the people at my store are incredibly nice so it's not the end of the world. I do remain of the opinion that their implementation was sorely lacking though.

When I went in on the 12th they only scanned my coupon. So went back in tonight and explained the problem. They guy rang up the brochure then typed on the SKU on my receipt next to the coupon. It made it free. I checked it only and it shows "Unlocked till 11/9/09". I'm guessing that is an error. I probably missed the explanation of that on this thread, if there is one.

From what I see a lot of people are getting an expired date on the website. The email you should be getting should say the actual expiration. I don't know how the date on the website affects me yet.

No email yet, but I'm just glad to see my reward zone account acknowledges I've signed up for it.

Did anyone's points double from June 1,2011 like BB email explained? My points and account info look exactly the same...no change at all yet.

i dont recall, but I did magically got a $10 GC...so I assumed that it was a result of my points doubling.

I signed up for the UNLOCKED thing. Two questions:
1. How long until it shows up on my RZ membership website? I did get the 10% bonus, but the website does not show it
2. Was I supposed to get a FREE issue of @Gamer magazine when I signed up? I was a NEW member, never had the magazine before.
I suddenly have a ton of itemized "gamers club bonus" entries in my purchase history.
All which replaced the same dates of my purchases. Lol 5 points for the date of my 250gb X360 purchase.:whistle2:#

me too. Safe to say the $150 = $10 in RZ program is dead as we know it. I also filled up and over the $150 cap before the program ended, but I'm sure we're not getting those points now after seeing whats going on.

Yeah, I think we're gonna get screwed out of those. I went out of my way to find a bunch of stuff, and spent over $450 the last week of the bonus, enough for $30 in RZGC bonus bucks. Gonna be real pissed if they mess around with my double points from June-Sept, as I spent a LOT during that time period.

Looks like all my double points have posted and exactly the amount I though I would be getting.

Unlocked receipt is finally showing up in the system but not on the profile. Can't win them all I suppose.

I got a random $5 certificate this morning. Not sure if it has to do with the 500 gamer club bonus that I was supposed to reach with my purchase of Resistance 3...there's a separate entry for the 500 Gamers Club points still pending. Weird.

For anyone who has random certificates showing up, it only seems that way due to how they added in the double points for GC purchases. The system simply updated your old points posts with new amounts. In other words although it will look like nothing's changed at first glance, each GC entry is now worth more points.

Basically, they just added the GC amount to the total that was already there (a 120 point purchase w/ 20 of that being GC purchases is now worth 140 points).

No change or random certs for me :(

Edit: guess my points are doubled. Didn't realize they jip ya by not counting $0.99 as a point. Has it always been like that?! Pretty lame if you ask me

Yup it's always been like that so if you buy a new game for $59.99 you only receive 59 RZ points.

So I brought the coupon in last week to get it scanned, but it seems neither myself or the associate knew about scanning the brochure at the same time.

If I take my receipt can they then get it activated by scanning the brochure and entering the coupon SKU? Or am i basically screwed?

I'm assuming they are only doubling the points you currently have? I had $30 in certificates. They gave me $30 more in certificates. It also still shows I had some points from the Gamers Club (hit $150 get 500 bonus points) and it shows that they deducted the points but I don't have a $10 cert to show for it. Unless they made a mistake or trying to work out how to do it. I still have a pending purchase that should go through on the 21 and thats the last purchase i've made at BB. Almost done...

My double points have posted. Also my unlocked status has not been updated so I need to go back now. The double points are also showing up in my pending purchases.

And this whole thread is proof that the reward done should have just done all these changes in January when the system and points restart. That would have been too easy and made too much sense I guess.
I see the pre-order 5 games for $100 counter is back.
Same here for me. It was there last week then the next day it was gone. Now the problem is that the numbers are not highlighted, but all well.
I see the pre-order 5 games for $100 counter is back.
Well if they changed something it did not effect mine. I still have 7 of the 8 I preordered showing up with Skyrim being the missing one. Still time so not worried.

I had the same situation. Brought my receipt back in and they typed in the BB SKU and it worked fine. RZ account updated too same day.

So I just went in to Best Buy and had them scan my unlocked code, however, nothing is showing up online. So I jumped on here to look up how things are going - what is this brochure that also needs to scanned?

Thanks for any info

Items should be scanned in this order;

Rz unlocked sku from brochure at trade in counter
Rz unlocked coupon from @gamer
Rz card
