Hey I just got a Panasonic PV-GS80 camcorder. It has a place for a 4-pin firewire on the camera. I also have a 4-pin input on my computer.

My question is this, which is better to transfer video? A 4-pin to 4-pin firewire or a 4 pin to USB wire? Also where are some good places to get these cables?

Thanks!

Yeah, I'm with the rest. I am a Event videographer and yes, firewire is best. However, be careful with the 4-pin. Whomever it was who was the genius who wired the Firewire cable pinout needs to be shot and hung upside down. You can if you are not careful fry the IEEE 1394 circuitry on the board of your camcorder. If the cable gets shaken the wrong way while the camcorder is on, it can ground and short circuit. I fried two Sony's this way. Luckily, they were both my backups not my main camera.

I use firewire with my Canon miniDV camcorder and it works great. I bought a cable at BB before I knew about monoprice . Monoprice is great!!
