Best HDDs for the PS3

I looked back through the last dozen pages and may have missed this topic, but I doubt it, so:

What is best HDD for a slim PS3, currently?

I'm worried, probably irrationally, but nonetheless, that my existing PS3 will bite the dust, so I'm looking at getting a back up and I was wondering what's the largest HDD capacity/brand/model/etc that I should invest in for the spare.

It is my understanding that some 2TB drives work with PS3's (read reviews on Amazon) but you may experience some system functionality issues as Sony only intended/patched PS3 to be compatible with 1.5 TB drives or smaller.
