Best Pen Tablet?

I bought a Wacom one about 5 years ago, and its performance was less than stellar. I ended up never using it, and lost it moving.

I was wondering if anyone here used one, if so which brand/model? Ive looked around online, but there doesnt seem to be much of a market besides Wacom. Have they improved over the years?

Wacom is the tablet of choice, however I have a friend who grabbed the hyper tablet from http://www.aiptek.com/

He seems to like it.

The Wacom Intuos 3's are nice from the few I've had the chance to try out. They have come a long way as far as percision and features. I'm really curious on how the new Bamboo models (new budget models) handle.

I use my Wacom a lot with a program called Painter X and Zbrush. I can't imagine any other uses for that besides that -

There is always Photoshop though...
