I just tried to buy today's deal with a different account that is not a game club member. It worked fine. $2.99. It asked me if I wanted to join the game club and I just unchecked it.

I've bought several games from this thread. Always charged $2.99. Just uncheck the Game Club box.

You only get that stuff about the game club if you clicked on the daily deal on the Big Fish home page. The links here always go straight to the game. Never been a problem for me.

Gamezebo review:

"Fans of the television show on which this is based should be very pleased with its translation to a play-along game. Junior scientists of any age will enjoy the process of collecting and reviewing evidence to draw logical conclusions. Players should be able to tell from the first 30 minutes if it’s a game that they’ll enjoy. We don’t believe games have to be all things to all people. Monster Quest is an excellent example of a game that will please its target audience very well. "

Pros: Solid story fully integrated with game-play. Good production values. Strong science component.

Cons: Objects are only interesting as clues to the story. Some game-play mechanics take a little while to figure out. Not enough save points.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Gamezebo review:

"The History Channel: Lost Worlds proved fun for a while but doesn't add anything new to any of these game types. It can be fun for a while, and challenging, especially as you don't know which game type is coming next, but in the end it's an average - yet attractive - game collection that folds in historical info and imagery. "

Pros: 4 games in 1. Three different ruins to explore. Educational component. Attractive graphics. Some levels fairly challenging.

Cons: We've seen all these game types many times before. Not very replayable compared to other games.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

There was no review of Poker Superstars III on Gamezebo. However, they did give Poker Superstars II a 4.5 star rating. I've played the game and it is a very good take on Texas Hold'em. It is strictly single player, however. Here is the game's description:

"Are you ready for the next challenge?! Poker Superstars III Gold Chip Challenge raises the stakes with new superstars, new gold chips to win for great plays and a brand new challenge play mode. Poker superstars is the game that is packed with challenge. Be one of the Superstars by importing your photo in to the game! The Superstars are up for the new challenge, are you?"

"On the whole, er, hole, Fairway Solitaire offers a unique golfing theme applied to a very simple solitaire card game. It gets kudos for originality. Golfing fans will have a few chuckles, and even non-golfers will enjoy the new twist on an old classic."

Pros: Interesting golf theme. Easy to play. Good audio. Additional outfits help character.

Cons: Only one type of solitaire game is offered. Limited mini games.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars Player rating 4.5 out of 5

Gamezebo review:

"On paper, Zen Fashion works marvels, combining two favorite passions - inner peace and haute couture - into an intriguing match-three puzzler that sends you trotting about China, Japan, Korea and the bulk of the Asian continent. Unfortunately, a snappy Far Eastern aesthetic and soothing soundtrack, not to mention somewhat novel play conceit (donning new duds to mix and match powers), can't save the title from an inconvenient truth. Specifically, that the melding of these twin concepts suffers due to inconsistent level design, too-leisurely pacing and a handful of issues that'll have even the most patient player ready to kick the creators right in their dharma."

Pros: Asia aesthetic. Soundtrack. Wardrobe-based powers. Zen breaks. Easy to play and learn.

Cons: Tepid pacing. Inconsistent stage design with frequent hard-to-reach tiles. Takes too long to charge power-ups. Highly repetitious. Bugs.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars

Gamezebo review:

"PuppetShow: Mystery of Joyville is as masterfully constructed as one of its mechanical puppets, creating an atmosphere of dread and foreboding with just a few journal entries and cleverly staged scenes. Its dark tale is perfect for Halloween, and leaves the door wide open for a sequel that will hopefully be coming sooner rather than later. It's a bit on the short side, unfortunately, but if you enjoy all things spooky and creepy, you're sure to love every minute you spend in Joyville."

Pros: Beautiful graphics. Unusual puzzles. Marvelous story.

Cons: Dark tale is not for everyone. A bit short.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

These are both excellent games today. Fairway Solitaire is a blast if you don't have it already. They've taken the solitaire game called Golf and merged with a terrific golf theme, with each "hole" having sand traps, water hazards etc. to make it different.

PuppetShow: Mystery Of Joyville, is one of the best adventures out there. It's creepy fun and shows how far the hidden object games have come by incorporating item collection and manipulation puzzles like the graphic adventures of old. This is a very recent release and $2.99 is a real steal for it this soon.

"World of Goo is one of the best games of the year. It’s so rare that a game does so much right. Publisher Brighter Minds should be lauded for distributing such an off-beat independent game, and 2D Boy has instantly earned itself a huge fanbase. Whatever you do, don’t miss the Goo."

Pros: Phenomenal graphics and sound. Tons of character. Mind-bending physics puzzles. Many wow, cool! moments. Funny, smart writing. Great depth, with lots of little details and secrets.

Cons: Some puzzles are much tougher than you’d expect. No tutorials.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Okay, you know if you don't have World Of Goo already on PC or WiiWare that you want this...One of the best games out there...

Another in support of fairway solitaire. I got it with one of the Big Fish steam bundles. A game of solitaire wrapped within the framework of golf just works. Very addictive and a huge time waster.

Gamezebo review:

"With the tycoon behind BigCo being a mystery, it may intrigue some folks to play to get revenge for Grandma. Ice cream lovers will most likely enjoy Ice Cream Craze Tycoon Takeover the most. The game's challenge gradually grows harder unlike some games where it suddenly becomes too hard. Even when it gets harder, Anna still moves at a pace slightly faster than a turtle. The character's pace doesn't change much after an hour's play, so you can decide if the pace is your speed or not."

Pros: Variety of scenes. Long-lasting. Unique upgrades. Nice graphics.

Cons: Anna moves slowly. Gameplay can feel repetitive. Grating music. Game freezes occasionally.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Gamezebo review:

"Many titles based around spreading information and making people aware are very dry, but EcoRescue: Project Rainforest sure doesn't. The game does good job of spreading awareness about the state of the world's rainforests and what we can do to help, including what specific species, host countries, and forests need in order to flourish once again. It's just a shame that there's not much game beyond what you get in the free trial."

Pros: Loads of facts about the rainforests. Challenging hidden object searches. Great soundtrack.

Cons: Short length game. Repetitive hidden objects. Repetitive levels and areas. Hint meter takes a long time to recharge.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars

"Hidden object fans will certainly not be disappointed with Forgotten Riddles: The Mayan Princess thanks to its clever riddles and intriguing story, but don't expect more than a weekend of play from this very good game."

Pros: Challenging seek-and-find game. Riddle-solving a nice touch. Fun to unlock story and visuals.

Cons: Riddle repetition hurts replayability. Bonus games very easy. Only one game mode.

"Dream Chronicles has all the necessary ingredients of an exceptional game, one that lives up to its marketing hype. Art Nouveau graphics are beautifully rendered, an ethereal soundtrack helps bring the world to life, its engaging narrative draws you into the story and diverse puzzles of varying difficulty keep play interesting and challenging."

Pros: Stunning graphics and animated effects, ethereal music, good variety of puzzle types, excellent narrative and fair replay value.

Cons: Can not revisit previous locations and a touch too short overall.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Thanks, Bullwinkle!

Yeah, Big Fish has several slot sims that are almost identical except for the surface theme...pirates, dolphins, Native Americans etc. They are all pretty interchangeable and not too exciting...

At least we got "Dream Chronicles" for a week starting today. Very good game if you like graphic adventures.

Caribbean Treasures was not reviewed by Gamezebo. It is an interesting match 3 that does play a bit different than other games of the genre.

The average player score on Reflexive is 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Here is the game description:

"Enjoy an unforgettable time vacationing on beautiful Caribbean islands as a mysterious world of fast and furious puzzle action unfolds before you! Match shapes to clear the board and move on, through 100 terrific levels! Collect bonus items to awaken ancient souls like Mutunda and Bongo and choose to accept or decline their challenge to solve a bonus puzzle. Winners are rewarded, while losers are punished! It's a fresh and energetic take on your favorite puzzler."

Gamezebo review:

"Mark and Mandi's Love Story isn't a case of love at first sight, so don't expect cupids arrow to hit you immediately. It's a casual game with a casual story, which is fun to play without being highly addictive or competitive. If you want a game that is strictly no-pressure, and have the patience to play for a while before making a decision on whether you enjoy it, than it's a cute choice that offers something different than the usual hidden object mystery."

Pros: Original, light storyline. Quirky art style. Lots of mini-games. No pressure, with flexible options to extend game play and adjust difficulty level.

Cons: Game play starts off extremely easy, and only gets more challenging around 2 hours into the game. It grows on you, rather than being exciting from the start.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Gamezebo review:

"Veterans of more complex offerings such as Industry Giant or RollerCoaster Tycoon may scoff. Still, a breezily casual spin on what’s inherently a tough subject to simulate, let alone wrap one’s head around, Cinema Tycoon 2 more than delivers on its promise of blockbuster entertainment. As such, while not the most robust or instantly addicting desktop diversion out there, we remain proud to give it a standing ovation."

Pros: Simple learning curve. User interface. Easily digestible feedback. Believable cause-and-effect relationships. Animated interludes. Fun range of variables to manage. Faux film selection. Overall attention to detail.

Cons: Lots of hand-holding. Won’t wow hardcore enthusiasts. Best enjoyed in bite-sized sessions. Relatively simple at its core.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Gamezebo review:

"It’s sometimes difficult to build upon the simple things in puzzle games. While awkwardly-named, The Book of Wanderer: The Story of Dragons provides a lot of fun, with surprisingly deep gameplay, and enough twists and features to make it stand out."

Pros: Great graphics and sound. Fun twists and challenges for match-three. Lots of depth.

Cons: No in-depth tutorials. No skippable bonus puzzles. Modes aren’t distinct. Story is irrelevant.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Gamezebo review:

"Autumn's Treasure: The Jade Coin has everything a great hidden object game needs. It has a plucky heroine, a lost treasure, a trail of clues that leads all over the world, and a nefarious syndicate up to no good. It's even put a nice twist on the item-finding mechanic and thrown in a few puzzles for good measure. So why is it such a tedious, boring chore to play?"

Pros: Relatively unique concept. Some entertaining puzzles.

Cons: Tedious. A bit on the short side. Items can be obscure or hard to find. Harsh penalty for using hints.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Gamezebo review:

"Detective Agency is another one of those games that could have used more guidance and localization before it was released to the general public. It does nothing to push the genre forward, and it's filler at best. It's also a short game that won't last much beyond the 60 minute free trial."

Pros: Relaxing pace. Ample hints.

Cons: Annoying hints system. Poorly translated. Mislabeled and vague items. Short.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars

Gamezebo review:

"Then again, flush with eye-catching graphics, killer tunes and a proven gameplay formula, perhaps the desktop amusement is just what your inner James Bond ordered. Download the demo today and see for yourself: A capable outing in its own right, The Trail of Dr. Chaos inevitably leads to an afternoon or two of solid fun, but whether or not it'll prove worth your hard-earned dollars is going to be largely subjective, based primarily on the featured theme and associated window dressing."

Pros: Great theme. Killer graphics. Slick sound effects. Mid-mission mini-games.

Cons: Sometimes tricky to select objects. Open-ended clues. No singular standout or innovative feature.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Gamezebo review:

"Treasure Seekers 2: The Enchanted Canvases from Artogon is a thoroughly enjoyable Hidden Object/Adventure game that shows that at least in casual gaming, sequels often improve on the original. Beautiful graphics, well-balanced gameplay, and puzzles that are engaging without being too hard combine for a game that’s sure to be an instant hit."

Pros: Very good inventory puzzles. Beautiful graphics. Good variety throughout.

Cons: A few objects are too dark. Length is a little short if you skip the mini-games.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Gamezebo review:

"County Fair is a neat tycoon game and carnival-building simulation that puts you in full control of building and maintaining some very cool amusement parks. From carousels to ring toss games to deep fried candy bars, it has everything you'd expect to find in a real-life fair."

Pros: Gameplay is involved, but still easy to learn. Plenty of chances to strategize. Great flexibility in setting prices and budgets. Realistic carnival graphics and animations. Addictive game play.

Cons: No way to fast forward. Difficult to spot when a machine is broken, especially in windowed mode.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
