And for those that dont know, the amount of uses for this promotion seems to be doubling at a steady rate, now at 40 uses per account, and the maximum amount you can get back PER A SINGLE TRANSACTION was reduced from $250 to $200. The total culmulative cashback allowance is capped at $2,500.00 per calendar year.


How this works:

If you dont already know about this, its a very simple promotion offered by Microsoft in order to promote usage of their search engine live.com. All you have to do is go to www.live.com and search for something common, like "Wii" as in nintendo wii. In the Sponsored sites at the top you will see a link to Wii's on ebay with a small logo next to it that says Live Search Cash Back and below that "You may get xx% off paypal eligible". When you click on the cash back logo it takes you to ebay and BIN (Buy It Now) auctions for Wiis. From there you simply use the ebay search function to find the BIN auction for the item you desire and purchase it. When you click the BIN button prior to clicking on Commit to buy you should see a message below with the Cash Back you are eligible to recieve. Once you buy the auction pay for it with paypal and give it an hour. Eventually you'll get a message in your ebay account saying "You've earned cashback" simply click on it and follow the instructions. If you dont have one you'll be asked to create a live account. I believe most people will already have an existing live acct due to their Xbox, MSN, or Hotmail associations so feel free to use that if you like. This is quick, and thus far i havent gotten any spam due to it, nor have i read of anyone getting any spam. And thats it, 60 + 15 days later [they allow a buffer period incase you return what you bought] you can redeem the money.

So to summarize

1. use live.com search engine to find any product on ebay. Any keyword is as good as another, hence i used "wii" as an example.

2. Once activating the link use ebay.com to browse for the Buy It Now auction you desire and purchase and pay with paypal. Wait until you get a message from ebay and get your cash back with your live account. This can take a few hours.

3. ~75 days later its in your pocket. [60 days before you can redeem and then an additional 2 weeks before it actually transfers into your paypal account]

Again this is just a promotion by MS to promote use of their search engine, theres no catch. You dont have to promise your first born nor random legs or limbs. Its as simple as it sounds.

Some things to note

-This promotion is limited to only US residents.

-You must pay with paypal and it must be a BIN auction.

-It takes about 75 days to recieve the actual money which will be in the form of a FEE FREE deposit into your paypal account. From there you can spend it or transfer it into your checking or simply request a check.

-If you return the item you purchased and used the promotion on you LOSE the refund.

-This is only valid for Ebay user/store auctions on Ebay.com. No live auction or ebay motors etc.. Though i think you can get away with buying international auctions you're watching on ebay.com. I also noticed that this works if you're offered a "Second chance" on an item you bid on since it turns the auction into a BIN.

-You may only use this a maximum of 40 times per ebay account per person. A few people are reporting success using different ebay accounts with the same cashback account in order to achieve more than 20 uses. YMMV.

-Maximum of $200 back PER AUCTION [$2,500 Cap per account] and the percent savings does vary and can change without notice.

Couple additions

"Instant" Cashback is now available. However, to quote "Instant cashback will be eligible for some, but not all users." Its unknown what the criteria is to be "eligible". I would not suggest you make a purchase unless you dont mind waiting.

Ebay/Paypal Coupons WILL stack with this. The amount is deducted off the full auction value. IE 10% Coupon applied to $100 purchase will save you $10. If the Cashback percent is 25% you will still get $25 additional back for a total savings of $35. Usually the Ebay/Paypal coupons have a maximum savings of $100 for a maximum total of $300 saved on any single purchase. This also stacks with other promotions run by Bigcrumb/ebates where you can earn some more money back based on an items selling fees.

So I made 6 purchases last night, got instant cash back on 3 of them but not the other 3....so dont know what the hell is going on with this and cant find a pattern. Just thought I would mention it.

Also I hate those of you getting these 10 and 15% ebay coupons!
 
Not sure what the trigger is with the instant cash back but I just got a refurb 60gb HD for my new arcade for 40 bones after instant and the 10% off.

I also wonder what triggers it, is it over a certain limit. I foolishly did one for $1.25 cashback about two weeks ago. Then earlier today I bought an espresso machine and got $36 instantly.
 
Well after I had the issue yesterday, I woke up this morning and there were 2 emails in my account from Live Cashback. So I was able to transfer the money over to Paypal. I do not know if it was my email to customer support that got it to trigger it, or the system is slow, since my money was supposed to be available 2 days ago.
 
Does anyone know if the 10% off coupon works with buy.com, I was looking at their auctions and they had this for a subtitle "Qualifies for coupons and MS Live Search cashback" I want to use the coupon which expires today and the 30% off on a 360 elite just wanted to know if by coupons they mean ebay coupons, because I tried the other day for a 10% off coupon and ebay wouldnt let me because it was their checkout system. Thanks

It does not since they use a 3rd party checkout system. Cashback works(if you use paypal) but the coupon is a no go

edit. It just showed up, so after 60 days is up I will have paid around 238 for a 360 elite. I am glad I found this out because, I used my 10% coupon a couple of weeks ago on a pro 360 but when it got to me it was broken. I just got refunded today and my coupon came back with it. :)

How long does it take to receive the cashback message on my ebay inbox? I just bought a $400 dollar item and I haven't receive it yet. I'm freaking out TT

I too just ordered a $400 item and got the ebay message about cash back. however when i clicked the link and went to my cb account I don't so the $120 even in pending!

also how do some people get %off coupons or $100 coupons for ebay???

They're randomly sent. You just check your email every month or so and see if you get it.
 
I went with a used DS with Mario 64 DS, Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, and another game for $74 after cash back.

Edit: Instant $30 cash back.
 
im hoping the 30% will stick around for 7 days.. as im expecting a big paypal cash back deposit for a phone i bought 2 months ago... damn 60 days take forever

ive asked this before.. but is there a marketing section in ebay or paypal that i should check to make sure im on a mailing list or something..

i have never gotten one of these..

My own "theory" is that they send them to people who arent active, I recieved the codes for 3 months straight, and when I finally bit, they stopped sending them. Of course, many active ebayers report randomly recieving them, so its probably YMMV.
 
Someone is selling $50 PSN cards for $55, so with 30% off makes them N cards, makes them less than $40, not too bad a deal
 
Just got the hammerburst gold + GoW2 theme for $4.50 (before 30% off). I wanted the theme and at ~$3 I can justify the two things. I of course felt stupid when I realized I had used 1/12 cashbacks for just $1.15 but I don't use eBay that much so it's not a problem ^_^
 
Its 30% right now, I'm not sure what you're talking about. I ordered something a few hours ago; 30% cashback, instantly, into my paypal account, so I hereby verify it. Interestingly, for me, looking at the page, the ebay banner now resides at the bottom portion of the page instead of the top, where it previously had been. Does that matter? No. Do I enjoy the intrigue, nontheless? Absolutely.
 
It's been 30% (for ebay) since BF I believe. I just bought a $50 item and got $15 pending. It is a little delayed...took about 2-3 minutes this time. Still no CB for my HP computer I was supposed to get 40% off on.
 
Anyone know when this is going to end? I can REALLY USE this for Jesusmas shopping soon, but i need to start stuffing some money on my paypal account. Anyone know when this offer expires?

im itnerested in buying fro mthis seller but when i go to chekcout , it says

You must pay with PayPal to get your Microsoft cashback

So i just want to make sure. Even if he doesnt use ebay checkout...i can still use the 30% cash back??

especially when the theme and hammerburst were free for midnight/preorders

I forgot it only works 12 times and considering I've used eBay 3-3.5 dozen times since 2000 I think I'll be fine ^_^. (I know they were free but I've been too busy to get out and pick things like that up, hell, haven't even opened the game!)

Plus, ~$3 for the gun code and a theme? That's a sweet deal! Plus, half of it was wanting to see how it works on something cheap enough that I don't mind screwing up the purchase...

About less than an hour after I paid for it I got an ebay message to go to my cashback account and it showed up as pending.
 
WTF. I bought a 360 wireless adapter from buy and it said it was eligible for cashback. They had some weird landing page between the auction and paypal. I wonder if that caused it. I had the same thing happen when I bought a live card from them but the cashback went through then.

30% Cashback = $13.16.

Not bad. Unfortunately, I have to wait 60 days to get my money back..
 
good to see that the code still works. Now I am waiting for tomorrow so I can buy a RB2 Bundle. Just to make sure I do not do anything wrong, how would I enter this code for the 30%?

Sorry if it is a stupid question. This is my first time using this Live thing.
