Thought this was worthy of a new thread. Its back! And with a vengeance. As of this writing its at [see title]. Link

And for those that dont know, the amount of uses for this promotion seems to be doubling at a steady rate, now at 40 uses per account, and the maximum amount you can get back PER A SINGLE TRANSACTION was reduced from $250 to $200. The total culmulative cashback allowance is capped at $2,500.00 per calendar year.

How this works:

If you dont already know about this, its a very simple promotion offered by Microsoft in order to promote usage of their search engine live.com. All you have to do is go to www.live.com and search for something common, like "Wii" as in nintendo wii. In the Sponsored sites at the top you will see a link to Wii's on ebay with a small logo next to it that says Live Search Cash Back and below that "You may get xx% off paypal eligible". When you click on the cash back logo it takes you to ebay and BIN (Buy It Now) auctions for Wiis. From there you simply use the ebay search function to find the BIN auction for the item you desire and purchase it. When you click the BIN button prior to clicking on Commit to buy you should see a message below with the Cash Back you are eligible to recieve. Once you buy the auction pay for it with paypal and give it an hour. Eventually you'll get a message in your ebay account saying "You've earned cashback" simply click on it and follow the instructions. If you dont have one you'll be asked to create a live account. I believe most people will already have an existing live acct due to their Xbox, MSN, or Hotmail associations so feel free to use that if you like. This is quick, and thus far i havent gotten any spam due to it, nor have i read of anyone getting any spam. And thats it, 60 + 15 days later [they allow a buffer period incase you return what you bought] you can redeem the money.

So to summarize

1. use live.com search engine to find any product on ebay. Any keyword is as good as another, hence i used "wii" as an example.

2. Once activating the link use ebay.com to browse for the Buy It Now auction you desire and purchase and pay with paypal. Wait until you get a message from ebay and get your cash back with your live account. This can take a few hours.

3. ~75 days later its in your pocket. [60 days before you can redeem and then an additional 2 weeks before it actually transfers into your paypal account]

Again this is just a promotion by MS to promote use of their search engine, theres no catch. You dont have to promise your first born nor random legs or limbs. Its as simple as it sounds.

Some things to note

-This promotion is limited to only US residents.

-You must pay with paypal and it must be a BIN auction.

-It takes about 75 days to recieve the actual money which will be in the form of a FEE FREE deposit into your paypal account. From there you can spend it or transfer it into your checking or simply request a check.

-If you return the item you purchased and used the promotion on you LOSE the refund.

-This is only valid for Ebay user/store auctions on Ebay.com. No live auction or ebay motors etc.. Though i think you can get away with buying international auctions you're watching on ebay.com. I also noticed that this works if you're offered a "Second chance" on an item you bid on since it turns the auction into a BIN.

-You may only use this a maximum of 40 times per ebay account per person. A few people are reporting success using different ebay accounts with the same cashback account in order to achieve more than 20 uses. YMMV.

-Maximum of $200 back PER AUCTION [$2,500 Cap per account] and the percent savings does vary and can change without notice.

Rest of the terms are here:
http://pages.ebay.com/cashbackoffer/terms.html

I recommend at least skimming them. Enjoy.

Couple additions

"Instant" Cashback is now available. However, to quote "Instant cashback will be eligible for some, but not all users." Its unknown what the criteria is to be "eligible". I would not suggest you make a purchase unless you dont mind waiting.

Ebay/Paypal Coupons WILL stack with this. The amount is deducted off the full auction value. IE 10% Coupon applied to $100 purchase will save you $10. If the Cashback percent is 25% you will still get $25 additional back for a total savings of $35. Usually the Ebay/Paypal coupons have a maximum savings of $100 for a maximum total of $300 saved on any single purchase. This also stacks with other promotions run by Bigcrumb/ebates where you can earn some more money back based on an items selling fees.
I don't see anything returned for ebay. Searched for halo, xbox, 360, elite, final fantasy, etc. I saw results for general stores like circuit city, but never anything for ebay. Dead?
8%

8% here as well.
What search term works for 8% off? "T-Mobile sidekick" doesn't work anymore...
I currently show nothing, on top of that, the CashBack site is temporarily unavailable.

Well damn. I've been waiting about two weeks for the cashback to go back up to at least 15%. The Paypal 20% off coupon is going to expire tomorrow and now they don't even have the 8% cashback up at the moment. Figures, lol.
Where were you last Friday (12/12) when it went up to 20%?
Obviously not here. But yeah, thanks for telling me about something that happened last week. Way to rub it in. Guess I'll hop in my time machine now.

Jackass.

(Just kidding, just kidding, lol. :p )

I signed up to receive emails from livecashbackr.

They send me emails telling me Live Cashback is 25% off when I do the search I do see the link on Live to get 25% off on Ebay but when I click on the link I do not get anything on the Ebay site. I do not see the 25% off on the top of the Ebay page and when I click BIN I see nothing about cashback.:(

is this a eBay user-specific promotion?

Nothing works any more. Shouldn't this be marked DEAD now? If it's ever revived we can start a new thread. I'm glad I used up all 12 uses. Hopefully when (if) they do it again they'll reset the count so I can take advantage of it again. Perhaps next year?

Only.. it's not dead.

8% Cashback is still available.

I just activated it to test, it works fine.

Ok, I'll bite. What search word did you use to get the 8% to come up?

EDIT: Just tried 15 different search words and none of them brought up the 8% eBay cashback. From now on, if anyone gets it to work, they should automatically provide the search term that worked for them, otherwise we can assume it didn't really work.

EDIT: I'm intimately familiar with this entire thread from day one. I am very aware of the other web sites which give the various key words. However, none of those key words were working this morning and someone just posted "I got it to work" on this thread. My point is, if you take the time to say "I got it to work" at least include the search word that worked or else it is a wasted post.

That is the way it is for many of us right now, I get repeated emails showing me the same code over and over but none work.

It's a lil sad and nerve wrecking waiting for it to go up. I may have to end up going to a different retailer outside of this whole LIVE thing altogether to get a good price on the item I want.

Or you could actually read this thread and notice that a website has been posted numerous times that can tell you the keywords to use.

I personally used Christmas.

I'll note that Live.com is back into random mode though, it may take up to 6-10 searches of the same keyword to show the EBay sponsored ad.

Ok, I did get one of the 8% ones to work. The 25% ones show up in Live search, but then when you click on them they don't really work. Most of the time when I click on the 8% ones at cashbackr they don't show up on live.com either, but that one time it did. So it isn't dead, just a lot more of a pain now. Still limited to 12 uses, though, so I can't really go through with it anyway. I hope they'll either up the limit, or reset the count after the new year.

im getting a bit nervous about this, do you think there might even be chance of the cashback % going back anytime soon? (%20 at January 22 09?)

Anybody have a keyword that will work at any percentage? CashBackR has nothing and I've been typing in any random thing I can think of.

My friend wants me to buy him a phone, and he's giving me the money for it, but at the same time I'd like to get the cashback from it, so as to get myself something in the pocket as well. The sooner this works again the better, and I know its not as high as when i got like 100 bucks back from my Nikon camera....but this is free cash for buying him a phone and he re-imburses me.....dammit
Does anyone have an email for Live support, one where they actually respond to questions?
I just used their cashback system to ask a question and they responded within two days. No need to email them. Go through their system, and they will email you a response.

I tried emailing them to ask if I could recieve the $4 that was stuck in my cashback acct before they introduced the minimum, I was thrown around different areas of support, and eventually reached a dead end. Sigh, what can you do.

Now I can't even check my Live Cashback account. I can log in just fine, it just won't let me look at my account page. I wonder if when it comes back, all my "earnings" will have mysteriously vanished.

So I got 3 payments already. I had one in the process of going to my Paypal and I get an email saying, "We need your help to complete your Live Search cashback payment. When we tried to pay you, we couldn't verify the PayPal account details below." I don't understand what the issue is. I guess I am going to have to email them. I have a couple other transactions that are not showing up in my account either.

Make sure your live cashback address matches your paypal address exactly. I had the same problem until I double checked and corrected my cashback address, as I abbreviated something.

Any idea if this is working again? I thought for sure MS Cashback would be back by now, but no dice.

I still have a few more things I'd like to get. The cashbackr.com site hasn't sent an email in days now, either.

Any news...???

I used it when it was 15% a while back on ebay and somebody thought that was sucky, turns out it was pretty good seeing as it hasnt been squat since...

yeah, I got about 6 items at 25% but thought it'd be back up by now.

maybe after x-mas or after the new year? real shame.

I don't know maybe it was just something to get people aware of Live.com and cashback for the holidays, I wouldn't be shocked it if doesn't come back again at 20-30%.

But man would I love it back.. I really want a coffee grinder.. but the one I want is $370 with 25% is $92!

It does because I have already received cashback from them before.

Today when I logged in everything was back and I had to re submit for the cashback that "failed".

Oh Live Search Cashback, why have you forsaken me?

Man, I could really use some cashback deals right about now.

I hate to break the bad news about this promotion but I read a Wall Street Journal article last week and they were discussing ebay's plan regarding marketing and mentioned that the ebay/microsoft cashback promotion ended 12 17 08. Not to say that they couldn't renew the contract but at this point the promotion is over. Edited to add in was the December 23 WSJ. I don't pay for the online so I can't post the full article http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122999355966028743.html
I would even go for 1% cashback :(
Yeah, I would be pretty surprised if this just doesn't come back AT ALL. I mean, the only way eBay wouldn't want to renew the deal at even 1% is if it didn't draw ANY extra traffic to their site, or generate any more sales. And I'd find that hard to believe. Hopefully it comes back. I never got to buy my 26" LCD TV
