Thought this was worthy of a new thread. Its back! And with a vengeance. As of this writing its at [see title]. Link

And for those that dont know, the amount of uses for this promotion seems to be doubling at a steady rate, now at 40 uses per account, and the maximum amount you can get back PER A SINGLE TRANSACTION was reduced from $250 to $200. The total culmulative cashback allowance is capped at $2,500.00 per calendar year.

How this works:

If you dont already know about this, its a very simple promotion offered by Microsoft in order to promote usage of their search engine live.com. All you have to do is go to www.live.com and search for something common, like "Wii" as in nintendo wii. In the Sponsored sites at the top you will see a link to Wii's on ebay with a small logo next to it that says Live Search Cash Back and below that "You may get xx% off paypal eligible". When you click on the cash back logo it takes you to ebay and BIN (Buy It Now) auctions for Wiis. From there you simply use the ebay search function to find the BIN auction for the item you desire and purchase it. When you click the BIN button prior to clicking on Commit to buy you should see a message below with the Cash Back you are eligible to recieve. Once you buy the auction pay for it with paypal and give it an hour. Eventually you'll get a message in your ebay account saying "You've earned cashback" simply click on it and follow the instructions. If you dont have one you'll be asked to create a live account. I believe most people will already have an existing live acct due to their Xbox, MSN, or Hotmail associations so feel free to use that if you like. This is quick, and thus far i havent gotten any spam due to it, nor have i read of anyone getting any spam. And thats it, 60 + 15 days later [they allow a buffer period incase you return what you bought] you can redeem the money.

So to summarize

1. use live.com search engine to find any product on ebay. Any keyword is as good as another, hence i used "wii" as an example.

2. Once activating the link use ebay.com to browse for the Buy It Now auction you desire and purchase and pay with paypal. Wait until you get a message from ebay and get your cash back with your live account. This can take a few hours.

3. ~75 days later its in your pocket. [60 days before you can redeem and then an additional 2 weeks before it actually transfers into your paypal account]

Again this is just a promotion by MS to promote use of their search engine, theres no catch. You dont have to promise your first born nor random legs or limbs. Its as simple as it sounds.

Some things to note

-This promotion is limited to only US residents.

-You must pay with paypal and it must be a BIN auction.

-It takes about 75 days to recieve the actual money which will be in the form of a FEE FREE deposit into your paypal account. From there you can spend it or transfer it into your checking or simply request a check.

-If you return the item you purchased and used the promotion on you LOSE the refund.

-This is only valid for Ebay user/store auctions on Ebay.com. No live auction or ebay motors etc.. Though i think you can get away with buying international auctions you're watching on ebay.com. I also noticed that this works if you're offered a "Second chance" on an item you bid on since it turns the auction into a BIN.

-You may only use this a maximum of 40 times per ebay account per person. A few people are reporting success using different ebay accounts with the same cashback account in order to achieve more than 20 uses. YMMV.

-Maximum of $200 back PER AUCTION [$2,500 Cap per account] and the percent savings does vary and can change without notice.

Rest of the terms are here:

I recommend at least skimming them. Enjoy.

Couple additions

"Instant" Cashback is now available. However, to quote "Instant cashback will be eligible for some, but not all users." Its unknown what the criteria is to be "eligible". I would not suggest you make a purchase unless you dont mind waiting.

Ebay/Paypal Coupons WILL stack with this. The amount is deducted off the full auction value. IE 10% Coupon applied to $100 purchase will save you $10. If the Cashback percent is 25% you will still get $25 additional back for a total savings of $35. Usually the Ebay/Paypal coupons have a maximum savings of $100 for a maximum total of $300 saved on any single purchase. This also stacks with other promotions run by Bigcrumb/ebates where you can earn some more money back based on an items selling fees.

The problem is people are having is with the cashback that is supposed to be automatically deposited in PayPal.
I filed with BBB and FTC, I have nothing else to do at work anyway. This is BS, how hard can it be to pay up, it is obvious that they dont want to. $70 is $70 so I want my money, bastards.
I just wanted to point out that Microsoft has no incentive to not pay the money. Even though it appears as if Microsoft is paying you, the money actually comes from the seller. If you are not getting payed, it's either due to a software glitch or Microsoft thinking you are trying to scam them.

Wrong. Have you read any of the posts in this thread? No?

M$ verifies the sale with the site that sold the item b4 they (M$) pay out the money. It sounds like the problem people are having is the transaction errors out when it should be transferred to PP.
Well, both my deposits came though moments ago. I guess they are making good.
Had yours been in repeated "FAILED" status? By all accounts this issue is affecting a slim minority of users for unknown reason. Another site reported that more than 90% of folks are getting their transfer as planned. A lot of us even got other transfers. Please let us know the particulars of your situation.

edit: Nevermind, I checked your earlier post. Thanks for the update on your situation. Here's hoping the rest of us pull through.

I feel a little guilty but I got about $70 cash back for an order I ended up canceling. Seems like MS needs to do some rethinking of their processes.

just got notice that the ebay cashback went through to paypal finally. It had been in failed status for a while.

I changed a few settings in paypal and added the specific address to live search that i used with the purchase since i had another account listed there - not sure if that was why it went through ok or if MS just finally got around to fixing the problem.

I dont really care, I wasnt doing anything and its something that has worked for me in the past. And viola today I got my cashback w/c is 30 days overdue. Maybe filing with BBB and FTC worked, maybe they finally fixed the problem..who knows..
ummm wat?
The way the cashback works is that the money is payed out of a trust fund that is filled by the merchant (and which the merchant receives interest on). When you make a purchase with cashback they wait 60 days to see if you are going to try to return the item or cancel the purchase. After this period, the money is payed out of the trust fund. If you do not receive your cashback, the money stays in the merchant's trust fund.

Must have fixed the glitch today that a lot of people have reported getting theirs. I myself got some Shamwow!! towels and donated some to charity because I figured I would never see it.

I just got my $7.50 cashback. How convenient though that I get it after I email them and they claim that the problem is with PayPal.

If this ever comes back, I'll be iffy as to whether or not to use it.

Interesting....if you use 'xbox', you get links for 25% cashback....if you use "wii" or "PS3", you get links for only 8% cashback

I typed in xbox in the search engine and it came up with 25% cashback. Well I clicked on that link to get to ebay and saw the Microsoft cashback 25% off logo on top next to the Ebay logo. I then typed in PS3 in the find item box and I still have 25% cashback even for PS3 items. Yay! Now to buy my COD World at War game!

Looks like the 25% promotion has ended. I must have posted when it was beginning to switch over to 8%. :(

Congrats to everyone who snagged something. ^ ^

On the plus side, the discounted 25% instantly went into my PayPal account, no waiting period.

If I still have the 25% off cashback logo on my Ebay pages, I will still get that, right? I don't want to buy something and only get 8% back. Any way to make sure or will I have to hope?

This is back at 25%!!!! When doing the basic search for ps3 or xbox; ebay will first show up as 8%, refresh it a bit and magic it turns to 25!

Its back down to 8%, glad I pulled the trigger when I saw it...Hopefully this will be a sign that they will continue to have 20% or higher in the future...

I got instant CB too!

Cashback is back so far i have seen %8 but have heard some say %25 back

tried xbox 360 search no good xbox 360 ie %8

try it and see if you can find the %25

good luck
I don't mean any offense but... see that post with over two thousand five hundred replies a few posts down?
At this point wouldn't it be better to start a new thread? Being as the last 1,000 replies are ppl bitching they have less than $5 in their accounts and can't get it from live....

Agreed - that old thread needs to be retired and time for a new one.

However, it would be nice if the OP would fix the title to say '...Is Back...' instead of '...Id Back...'

cool its back, hopefully i can replace my ps3 40gb with a 60gb in the near future. would like it back to 35% but id take 25%
