Thought this was worthy of a new thread. Its back! And with a vengeance. As of this writing its at [see title]. Link

And for those that dont know, the amount of uses for this promotion seems to be doubling at a steady rate, now at 40 uses per account, and the maximum amount you can get back PER A SINGLE TRANSACTION was reduced from $250 to $200. The total culmulative cashback allowance is capped at $2,500.00 per calendar year.

How this works:

If you dont already know about this, its a very simple promotion offered by Microsoft in order to promote usage of their search engine live.com. All you have to do is go to www.live.com and search for something common, like "Wii" as in nintendo wii. In the Sponsored sites at the top you will see a link to Wii's on ebay with a small logo next to it that says Live Search Cash Back and below that "You may get xx% off paypal eligible". When you click on the cash back logo it takes you to ebay and BIN (Buy It Now) auctions for Wiis. From there you simply use the ebay search function to find the BIN auction for the item you desire and purchase it. When you click the BIN button prior to clicking on Commit to buy you should see a message below with the Cash Back you are eligible to recieve. Once you buy the auction pay for it with paypal and give it an hour. Eventually you'll get a message in your ebay account saying "You've earned cashback" simply click on it and follow the instructions. If you dont have one you'll be asked to create a live account. I believe most people will already have an existing live acct due to their Xbox, MSN, or Hotmail associations so feel free to use that if you like. This is quick, and thus far i havent gotten any spam due to it, nor have i read of anyone getting any spam. And thats it, 60 + 15 days later [they allow a buffer period incase you return what you bought] you can redeem the money.

So to summarize

1. use live.com search engine to find any product on ebay. Any keyword is as good as another, hence i used "wii" as an example.

2. Once activating the link use ebay.com to browse for the Buy It Now auction you desire and purchase and pay with paypal. Wait until you get a message from ebay and get your cash back with your live account. This can take a few hours.

3. ~75 days later its in your pocket. [60 days before you can redeem and then an additional 2 weeks before it actually transfers into your paypal account]

Again this is just a promotion by MS to promote use of their search engine, theres no catch. You dont have to promise your first born nor random legs or limbs. Its as simple as it sounds.

Some things to note

-This promotion is limited to only US residents.

-You must pay with paypal and it must be a BIN auction.

-It takes about 75 days to recieve the actual money which will be in the form of a FEE FREE deposit into your paypal account. From there you can spend it or transfer it into your checking or simply request a check.

-If you return the item you purchased and used the promotion on you LOSE the refund.

-This is only valid for Ebay user/store auctions on Ebay.com. No live auction or ebay motors etc.. Though i think you can get away with buying international auctions you're watching on ebay.com. I also noticed that this works if you're offered a "Second chance" on an item you bid on since it turns the auction into a BIN.

-You may only use this a maximum of 40 times per ebay account per person. A few people are reporting success using different ebay accounts with the same cashback account in order to achieve more than 20 uses. YMMV.

-Maximum of $200 back PER AUCTION [$2,500 Cap per account] and the percent savings does vary and can change without notice.

Rest of the terms are here:
http://pages.ebay.com/cashbackoffer/terms.html

I recommend at least skimming them. Enjoy.

Couple additions

"Instant" Cashback is now available. However, to quote "Instant cashback will be eligible for some, but not all users." Its unknown what the criteria is to be "eligible". I would not suggest you make a purchase unless you dont mind waiting.

Ebay/Paypal Coupons WILL stack with this. The amount is deducted off the full auction value. IE 10% Coupon applied to $100 purchase will save you $10. If the Cashback percent is 25% you will still get $25 additional back for a total savings of $35. Usually the Ebay/Paypal coupons have a maximum savings of $100 for a maximum total of $300 saved on any single purchase. This also stacks with other promotions run by Bigcrumb/ebates where you can earn some more money back based on an items selling fees.

Thanks for the heads up. I have been ignoring the other thread and otherwise wouldn't have known about this coming back.

It shows as 8% for me. If it goes up to 15%+, I'll definitely be picking stuff up.

OP, where id you hear that it was 25% and why wouldn't they share the keywords needed to get it? I'd like to get some nascar tickets 25% off.

Damn. I sure hope it gets back to 25%. What's the limitation on number of purchases, or do you think they've gone ahead and edited that again?

I don't even see 8% come up when I search on Live.com. Lol, I took major advantage of this before, what items are people searching for to get the cashback?

And I just looked at the stores on the cashback website, and I don't see eBay listed at all.

This came back at a terrible time... I've made quite a few big purchases in the recent weeks.

Oh well, it's only 8% now it seems. I can't find anything over that.

I got it with "cheap ps3" and "cheap wii." anything else I tried didn't work

Last night I got the 25% and used it on a gps unit i have been eyeing. I used xbox as a keyword. After the purchase I tried again to grab one more thing and best I could get was 8%. But the cashback was instant. Wierd.

ive got 25% but you have to spoof the site using refspoof addon for firefox. i got my money instantly deposited into my paypal as well. word is they are cracking down on this and might suspend accounts so user beware.

Any idea if these new CBs are added onto previous uses? Cause I think I almost maxed out my 12 uses the last time round so if it's cumulative with that I'd use it on something big and worth the CB.

Hmmmm......I'm not getting anything. Is anyone else having any luck?

I tried searching common terms like "xbox", "wii" and so forth.....but not seeing any links.

You need an IE add-on in firefox to see the ad; or just use IE and you'll get the 8%.
What's the refspoof link?
Its a firefox add-in the SD'ers figured out can replicate the session; basically its enabling someone who did not even click the live link to the CB discount. I wouldn't recommend this as it is not worth the risk of losing accounts.
omg they finally gave me my cash back! almost a month late!! wooo
Yeah they gave mine back too. Only a few months late for me, but better than nothing. :D

is it still stuck at 12 uses?

Maybe once it gets up there I'll have my wife buy me something instead... would love to save 25 bucks.

The 12 uses are tied to your eBay account so you can keep doing it by creating more accounts. They don't seem to care although I would try to be obvious about it so that it doesn't seem like you're trying to pull a fast one over them. I also definitely wouldn't try it if your reward total will exceed their allowed amount.

When live.com wants you to type in an email address when you're about to visit a retail site which email am I suppose to type in? My @live.com email address or my usual home email address that I usually use for my purchases on those site?

Do I have to make my email address on the retail sites or ebay be the @live.com one? Because I've gone through two purchases now with NewEgg and Buy.com and in both instance it didn't work for me. :(

In my cash back account setting page I have my usual email address there and also have my paypal account added there as well.

it's just your live cashback account. There should be this whole loading process where it says it's taking you to the store and everything

and make sure you're going to newegg or buy.com from live search cashback's website, not just a search on live.com

funny thing happened to me...

i've used live CB before and gotten money back, but all of a sudden i get an email from what looks to be legitimately from ebay, telling me that i need to copy and paste some link and link my accounts before i can get the money back.

Knowing that my acct are linked and I've gotten money back before helped me to realize this was scam and save me from getting my identity stolen. It just didn't make any sense.

So that's just a warning to you guys, keep an eye out for phishy emails cuz you'll probably get scammed.
It's 20% as of right now. How often do 30%s come by? Are those usually just reserved for holidays? Maybe I should wait until then.
Its still 8%, that 20% isnt ebay.

I got the same e-mail from [email protected].
Are you telling me I NEED IE to see the links now?

fuck me, I'm on a mac

[EDIT - nevermind, it was just adblock doing it's job]
I have heard that the links for ebay CB should show up on Safari.

Well, no wonder why i couldn't see the link, I was using Firefox. Just tried it with IE and it worked fine. I bought a TV, so even 8% back isn't bad.
do you agree that it wasnt legit? and kinda phishy?
Why don't you guys just contact eBay directly and ask them about it instead of speculating?

I'm getting about 1-2 eBay phishing e-mails a week. No matter how many times I junk mail them or report them they keep coming back. They are the only phishing e-mails I ever get, and I have hotmail to.
I got the same e-mail from [email protected].
Check your messages in your ebay account, not email. If it is from ebay, it will show in your messages tab.

cool, I had done that too and saw nothing. thx

if you suspect messages from "ebay" you can always forward the message to [email protected] and they'll look into the matter. Don't expect any response from them though (other than the usual "we've received your message and are looking into it" response), but at least it's one way to "combat" these scammers.

That's interesting. If I've been receiving my money already why should I link anything? Not sure I like the idea of fiddling with something that is working.

Personally I did the same thing you guys did and checked my inbox on ebay and didn't see the message. I didn't even try to click the links in the e-mail and just left everything alone. That's why I was surprised when I got the e-mail back saying it was official. Still not clicking it though.
