Ugh, so people are already saying Power Pass has been declared a natural disaster. 

Looks like I'm going to have to actually buy games on BF.

Supposedly cancelled or put on hold and employees have been instructed to destroy any evidence that it ever existed.

More details will probably roll in tomorrow seeing as how they started the program early for some reason and now have to give refunds.

(I hope that's all a joke by some employees...but we'll see)

You wonder if it had bad reception from focus groups and customers or whatnot. Odd indeed. The CEO also could have had a change of heart on it and saw a potential loss of money on it

I think it's the opposite...almost like a reverse EA. Customers seemed really positive and employees were pushing back. Maybe it was the way they implemented it (or tried to) and this 72 hour wait between rentals...not sure if that was in the test market run.

It really was the freedom of choosing what games and when (within the 6 months) that had me interested. Now I guess as an alternative I can buy a select (4) older games for $15 ea and have to decide on all of them this week.

I'll have to lookup that BB order I made last year that was able to stack BF pricing and GCU and try to replicate that again. I hope it wasn't tied into being Elite.

I'm failing to understand how a CC company would give me $500, or really any amount back, if I am already buying it from the cheapest available source.

That is possible in the long term, but in the short term (the holiday season), it would have more likely just taken games out of the system as rentals when Gamestop is already short on supply of used copies of games that recently released.

Think of it like the 7 day price protection from Best Buy, but for anywhere. Citi, for example, has something called "price rewind" - you register your purchases, they track them for 60 days to find a lower price. If they find a lower price, they will give you statement credit or a check for the difference (no taxes or shipping differences though). Many cards have something like this (though they each have different methods for filing claims - Citi seems to have the most automated method I've seen).

If you look at a credit card as another way to spend your existing money (instead of your debit card, check or cash) as opposed to and endless source of free money, you can take advantage of some great perks. They get bad rep because some people lean on them a bit too much and don't realize it until they're neck deep in debt.

 
I'm assuming Gamestop was banking pretty heavily on Power Pass in their Black Friday ad and now gotta scrub it's existence out.

I hardly ever walk into Gamestop any more. I can get so much more value with Best Buy's Gamer Club than buying a new used game. This would have been the one thing to get me to go shop at a GameStop and we probably would have purchased at least two separate Game Passes.

Oh well. Guess I will just keep avoiding them.

 
I stopped going to Gamestop when they would not sell me the only new PS4 copy of Odin Sphere Leifthrasir Storybook Edition sitting on the cabinet behind their counter. Reason per the employee, standing order by their manager that it was on hold for a customer. Fair enough, so I asked for how long. They said it was to be held for a year and if I came back in six months the year hold would expire and be available for general purchase. So sorry, purchased it from Amazon in their parking lot and got it two days later. 

I can also get a used copy of Mass Effect Andromeda for $18.99 or go to Best Buy with GCU and get a new copy for $15.99 sooooo what value do I gain?

Let me know how you like that HP pc at Costco. I'm look for something that can do 1080p gaming and content creation.

I'm using a HP pavilion with vista that I bought with 40% bing cashback in 2008. I don't have many options. lol I need everything replaced. New mouse since the track wheel broke 5 years ago. HD is probably failing. PC doesn't consistently turn on. No old OS keys laying around.

I figure this one is a decent build and you could always swap the case if you want to add cooling or whatever. I think someone said you can't overclock on that MB though on a different deals site.

Could always build one with better parts for roughly $100 more (Win10 OS can be bought for $15-25 for pro; this doesnt include the KB/M though)

But for the price it's not horrible, but don't expect to be able to run games well...at least newish ones.

Did nobody catch the Walmart HP deal? That one seems far better imo. It’s got an i5-7400 and a GTX 1060. The 1060 is quite a bit better and you can’t build one with similar parts for that price. The 1060 usually hovers around $200 or so, even if it is the 3GB version it’s still a VR ready PC. You can buy the PC and an oculus rift set for $850, thats nearly what you’d have paid at launch for the oculus+touch by itself.

EDIT: didn’t see that Microsoft deal, whoa that is crazy good. $349 for all that??

I feel like the TRU ad has to be coming soon. I did see a list of stuff that will be on sale but with no prices, and I don't think it was everything. If it was then it's going to be a bad sale. Hopefully the buy one get one for $1 sale on the value games will be back as normal at least.

SNES Classics seem to be being held for the 26th, likely for an ad. They're street-dated currently.

link? or thread where it is discussed? I haven't opened the costco one yet. I thought there was a good one at sams or walmart, but it was a BF deal.
