I'm kind of surprised at the amount of bashing on the GS ad. It's crappy, but it's pretty much the same as I remember from years past: the standard B2G1 on used games, and a few mediocre deals that you could get cheaper elsewhere. I will give them a little credit for the Tekken 6 sale, though. I haven't seen that on sale in any other ads yet. As much as I don't like GS, it's just pretty much the standard GS BF ad.

Regarding the Wal-Mart ad, is there anything else noteworthy other than the PS3 that I may be missing? The BR player caught my eye, but I'm concerned it could be a very low end unit (?)

Simply making the standard used B2G1 sale a B3G2 or a B1G1 for select games could have made it better without hurting their bottom line too much. Who comes up with these BF deals at corporate?

At the very least, the GS deal for FFVII: Crisis Core for $10 is good. I just got my PSP and have heard good thigns about it.


Also, GS is weak for trying to push the GOW collection as 2 games. Gonna get all Wii Carnival Games on us this Black Friday, huh?

the Gamestop ad isn't all that bad for gamestop, they never have amazing deals on new stuff, ever. it's good to see them giving away 2 games with a PS3, its almost certain Amazon will do something similar now that wally BB and Eb are giving 2 plus games for it. I must be the only one who thinks that the Gamestop B2G1 sell is a good deal. I mean maybe not on BF but you can get pretty much new games and bundle them all together for $40-50 less than you'd regularly pay or at least that's been my experience.

So I'm happy with it especially when all the other BF deals have been very sad so far as far as games go.

Buy the cheapest new unit you can find and put in a 500 gig, we found one for about $63 shipped. You get the Sony warranty (we have 2 launch 60 gigs (one now with a 500 gig...no issues and many, many hours of use)...but the warranty is still good to have and double the 250 storage...
(Warranty still stands with replaced HD, your PS3 manual will even walk you through the switch)... cage the original HD (sony will send you a cage for free...) and wallah, the best of all worlds/price/storage...
...maybe some stores will start discounting the Uncharted bundles or even older bundles...

GBA Sp for thirty bucks at gamestop, or a ds lite for 60 used, but if i find one in decent shape i will bite.

I willl have better luck getting a GBA in good condition because there is no touch screen, too many used ds systems have scratches on the touch screen. still these look pretty solid, dunno why all the hate on the gamestop ad.

I think 30 or 60 days, but at least when we bought a used PS2 there is an option for an extended 1 year.


Seems like Wal-Mart is the place to go, I've never bothered with Black Friday shit, I mean really for the most part it doesn't make sense for me to wake up at 3am, head to wal-mart and sit there to save $30 on some games that I won't play for at least a month or two anyway, I'll probably go before work and see what's left.

It looks like crisis core for $10(normally 20) is for a new game, and b2g1f ree is always used games, so no

as for game crazy matching gamestops prices, yes, but they will not match their special promotions(trade in x games get 40% extra credit).

as for matching BF sale prices, i wouldnt hold my breath, like the cheap used systems, since that would probably be a 'special promotion'.

IF you are buying an edge card, I have seen them give the discount on a used system when you are buying the card if you are buying them on the same purchase(it sounds like this would be the case for you, but i only saw this before GS merged with EB, and it was not called an edge card, the edge discount will not apply to systems, just games and accessories.

Madden 08 for $3 and GT3 for the PS2 at $2 aren't that spectacular, but I wouldn't mind picking up Gears of War for $10. Don't really care about $10 off a $60 game, but whatever. My pleasure. I'm glad it could be of use to some people. Sadly though, it's the most lackluster ad I've seen in awhile. I don't think I'll brave any BF lines this year, which is completely unnatural for me. The Lego RB deal is pulling me though, but that's about it.

For those pondering which PS3 bundle to get:
1. If you like action/superhero genre (comics/movies/games) definitely go for the Walmart bundle.
2. If you like tons of fun (possibly for the children in your life or your inner child) go for the LBP bundle. LBP is a blast and the community is stronger than ever. You will never run out of levels to play. LBP isn't as easy as it seems to beat on the later levels. Collecting everything is mind-numbingly hard as well. Just because it's cute doesn't make it simple nor easy.
3. Skip the Gamestop bundle. God of War collection is a bundled game for $40.00 retail. Great, GREAT games, but the two previous bundles trump it for newness alone. Get the GoW Collection as your first PS3 retail game.
