That DS Lite deal sounds great. Only problem is finding one in good condition with a crapload of people in the store/waiting in line. What would be the best time to go to avoid this? I want to get the DS Lite and actually check out the system for scratches, beat up, etc. I don't want to just go to the counter, buy the DSL, and leave because I'll probably get screwed over.

I work there and was there for open last year on BF. Yes there was a line. Not the biggest but more than 50 people. BUT last year we opened at 5, the same time as Target and 1 hour after Kohls which are both in the same plaza. Now we are opening at 3 so we will be the first store open so we are expecting a big turnout. IMO if you want to get a free LEGO RB for you console you should probably be there by midnight.

You want to see lines at Old Navy go for any of the "One Day Wonders" such as $1 flip flops or $2 tank tops and you will see hundreds of people in line.

It will not be a demo version. Last year they gave out 50 Samsung Pebble(?) mp3 players so the company has no problems giving out 50 $50 video games.

I get that with the $60 MSRP. It has never really felt right to me either. As far as BF this year though, it seems like the standard markdown across the board is about $20, down to $39.99, which is an OK deal on recent games. As far as outliers go for this year....

- BB is marking down to $34.99 instead of $39.99. (Best price on L4D2, Dragon Age, and Brutal Legend).

- BB is also just about the only place with the more recent sports games marked down, if that is your cup of tea (FIFA 10, Madden 10, NHL 10, NBA Live 10).

- Toys R' Us has the lowest price on Forza 3 and Halo 3: ODST at $34.99.

- Target is the only store with Marvel UA2 advertised, at $37.

- The WalMart $25 bin may end up being the best BF VG deal in the end. The games shown are UFC Undisputed, CoD4 GotY, and NBA 2K10 (steal on that one), BUT there are at least 22 titles included other than those posted. Depending on those 22, this could be a great deal. Any WalMart insiders around who might be able to get that list ;)

- Also at WalMart, $50 is STILL a pretty good price on RB SE, even just for the sake of the extra instruments.
 
Hmm... from what I've seen I could possibly be in for the RB set and Midnight Club LA as I've been holding off on buying RB for quite sometime now. Depends on whether or not I feel like camping for a few hours. We shall see come next week. Thanks OP.
 
why couldn't Gamestop have Dragon Age on sale too??? I would much rather go to my local neighborhood Gamestop than pushing through crowds and waiting on line at Best Buy

HELP!?... how do the best buy game deals work? I know BB always has a crapton of games like most big box retailers, so will i be able to walk in say around 7 or 8 and pick up l4d2, dragon age, and fifa? Or do they only put a limited amount of those games out at that sale price?

Every copy they have in stock will be that price. It's likely they'll sell out quick though.

I wondered the exact same. It looks from the scan that there is a "gamestop" logo on the package, though, and that'd certainly increase the likelihood that it's some kind of generic.

Till they sell out (theoretically, if they have unlimited supply of a game, the price would be effective for the whole day Friday). 2 years ago I went to BB around 9pm and picked up one of their BF game sale for $10.

It does increase the likelihood but it makes sense that gamestop would want their name on the packaging to emphasize that it would only be sold there. The scan quality isn't great but it looks very similar if not exactly like the Nintendo branded Wii remotes. Does anybody have the gamestop black friday ad in high quality? Then maybe I could see the details of the remote more clearly. Thanks

I think i'm going to get the DS Fat for gamestop used. I'll just playing Contra 4, New Super Mario, and the Castlevania's.

Is there any issues with the old DS's. Are there any complaints about the screen brightnes? I'm not going portable as it will be played in the house.

If you're just using it around the house, it will be fine. The added brightness of the Lite certainly helps, but I didn't go blind using my Phat for a year or so.

The main performance differences are that the DS Lite has a brighter screen and better battery life (5-ish hours better per charge). The battery life would seem to be a negligible concern in your case if you will be playing it at home (i.e. near an outlet) anyway.

If Amazon's deals are even on par with the B&M stores that's pretty good in my book because it means you can avoid waiting in line in the cold at retail stores which is easily worth $5-$10/title...

Thanks, it's going to be a D-Day decision on that one. If I have to go to Wal-Mart for NBA 2K10 no way I survive the line to even go to Gamestop.

2K10 is def #1 on my BF shopping list thus far (steepest discount on a good, recent game). I'm with you on WalMart though, I would much prefer if it was on sale for $25 at Sears or KMart where I wouldn't have to deal with so much people traffic.

I would check out WalMart's $7 and $10 games, but does anyone here actually believe there are going to be more than a couple quality games to choose from (besides maybe Lock's Quest and GTAIV, I didn't see anything of quality pictured...and I doubt they would put pictures of anything except for the best selections)? Not to mention, they will no doubt just pile them up in overloaded dump bins. Having to fight it out just to search through those bins of shitty games late Thursday/early Friday morning, meh...
