Blaze PSP TV adapter

CAGiversary!
Got it the other day, played a few game on it:

Horrible, washed out colors, colors were not matching the original color, grain ridden picture, unreadable text, many games were so dark that they were not playable and adjusting the brightness did nothing but make it a brighter mess, Adjust the focus would help a bit but still horrible.

Worst part is the brightness would shift occassional throughout a game from almost playable to not being able to make out details.

When I get back home I will try it with some less dark games to see if it improves.

Don't buy the POS. I *might* get the taller one to see if its any better.

Game/Movie mode did make a difference as it was a bit more playable in movie mode but the text was 95% unreadable then.

The "taller" one you referring to as the PSP2TV? If so, I'm having them send me one for review.

Yeah, that one has no mirrors like this one does. I actually took it off the PSP and pointed it around the room. The camera on this is horrible, it adds a dark green tint to everything.

I just got my Blaze from Success-HK ($33.80 shipped) and I have to say I'm not as disappointed as you were. It's not great. But I thought it was fairly playable. In fact, once I stopped scrutinizing the picture quality and just played, I really enjoyed playing Wipeout Pure on my big TV.

I thought Wipeout would be a good torture test, as most tracks have brighter outdoor areas as well as darker tunnels. In the bright areas, the picture would get a touch washed out by the lens flare, but not too bad. I was actually pretty happy with the way it adjusted to the dark areas. Basically, I really didn't have any complaints with the brightness. I suppose the contrast could be better, but I never had a problem seeing where I was going.

The picture is a bit grainy, and overall, it's definitely worse than VHS quality. It's more of the quality of an old film projector. On the other hand, it's mirror/lens system probably isn't much different than an old film projector.

I can't say I recommend the Blaze. But I have spent $34 on worse gaming-related accessories before. Since it's about half the price of the PSPonTV (the one that looks like a pyramid), I guess I feel like it's an average product for a below average price. In that sense, I'm satisfied with the purchase. Had I paid $50 for it, I'd be more disappointed.

I should mention that I really didn't thoroughly clean my PSP before trying the device. I just snapped it on and tried it out. I imagine if I removed the adhesive screen protector (which I didn't do that great a job of applying in the first place) and gave the screen a good cleaning, the results would improve at least slightly. But I think "slightly" is the key word there.

If the PSPonTV device ever drops in price, I'll consider upgrading. From what I've read, it's better than the Blaze. It's also $60 plus shipping at the moment, which is a bit more than I'm willing to spend on a device like this. So for now, I'll save my money, tinker around with the Blaze, and hope for a price drop in the future.

If you use it off of the PSP, does it add a tint to whatever you point it at? I suppose mine could have a defective camera.

I found it too difficult to play the games I tried due to them being on the dark side which the adapter jusr made worse.
