Starting tuesday/possibly friday through 6/6, blockbuster will have 5/$20 on all previously viewed :dvd: & :br: movies priced $9.99 or less.

Supposedly you need a password to take advantage of this sale beginning 5/17 but its not necessary, sale for everyone begins friday 5/20

The Blu-rays I bought with the awesome Viva Elite cases from Discmakers.com (they are the same exact ones most companies use)

I may end up going back this week to the other store... I don;t know. Even at .99, I grabbed exactly 20 that I wanted... And I have to count the cost of cases, since I'm a little anal about that... We'll see. If I end up there again this week, I'll consider it divine destiny ;)
 
Well, just got back from 2 bb in the dfw area, they both said that the .99cent br were a mistake. It was only the dvd's. Did any one else run into this?

They just didn't get an allotment of the BR discs... One store ear me got NOTHING - not even regular DVDs for .99... The other store had 500 or more BR and 600 or 700 DVDs priced at .99.
 
Ok, I just hit 7 BBs in OKC. Only two had 0.99 blurays. But, 3 managers said they are expecting a shipment of over 900 blurays to be sold at .99 and the sale will happen when they get those discs.

Plus, YMMV but 2 stores had Wii 2000 point cards, for $9.99.
 
I called back and the guy said the district manager called them and it was never soposed to be for .99 . It was the pioneer parkway one in arlington.

Which stores? I called 4 of them yeterday and they didn't have anything. The only 2 storesin the DWF area I know that had them were the one in Richardson by UTD and one in Irving. I would not expect much to be left at either one now.

The main way to distinguish between them is a white sticker that is placed on the back of the case that covers up the upc barcode. Also the majority of them don't have any stickers on the front cover that say they are on sale or the barcode that blockbuster uses for their inventory.

It's been YMMV on which titles they are including in the $0.99 sale. I have a local store that received the extra inventory that has the sticker that covers the UPC, but they have been selling them for $5.99 or as part of the 5 for $20 deal. The $5.99 titles never dropped a $1 a day like many of the stores that were participating in the sale. It seems the major factor has been if the Manager decides to participate in the sale.

I have brand new sealed Toy Story 1 and 2's to trade. They're still sealed so they still have the slipcovers, and dvds as well. I already have grey's anatomy, district 9, and red cliff, but let me know down the road if there's anything you want to trade. I asked the manager at my BBV because there were the same movies for .99 and for regular price. Someone picked up Robin Hood manager wouldn't let me get the one with a price sticker on it. He said the only difference was .99 had no price sticker on them.
 
My local manager said the .99 movies were mostly refurbished, I asked because I saw book of eli, district 9, and social network but they had the price tag on them

Well, total movies 16. Wish I could find better, but this was the only location that was offering the .99 Blu and didnt find out until today.
 
The .99. titles are from closing stores. Some titles most likely will also be 5.99 or higher at your store nut those are that store's inventory and they wont include those in the .99 deal.
 
The .99 cent blu rays are definitely not refurbished. I don't think you can even refinish blu rays in the way that DVDs can be grinded down. Anyway, like Flamed said, the .99 cent stuff was all from stores that closed or from the online rental service. The difference between the stuff that is .99 and the stuff that is pricemarked is the connotation of the product alone - otherwise, there is no difference. The stuff that came from closed stores has no price markings and must be stickered and security-tagged when they are unboxed, whereas the stuff with pricetags is from the store in which it is being sold. Frustrating to the consumer who sees two movies at two different prices, sure, but that's just the way it is.

I know Hawaii boy normally says when video games drop does anyone know what day bluray normaly drop I was happing avatar and a few other 12.99 blus drop before sale ends
 
I only saw 99 cent DVD's at my one store...maybe check another. I am curious when they drop prices also....lots of $12.99 BD's I wanted. Oh well...
 
Has anyone seen a copy of the latest Indiana Jones on blu as part of this sale? I saw a single copy several days ago at one location, but they didn't have 4 other movies I wanted at the time and now it's gone. Can't find it at either of the other local stores that are still open. Have a few movies I might trade if anyone is interested.

The DVD selection seems to be YMMV. I saw the crap titles everyone else mentions but some unique ones like GHostbusters 2, Daybreakers, Harry Potter films, harold and Kumar, and Hung season sets.

those are more then likely that stores stock. I doubt they jacked the price up on the promo/closing stores stock of .99 blus. They either sold em all or ditched em.

Actually i heard that some stores are like doing a reverse sale... the ones left that were 99 cents on monday went to 2.99 on tuesday and 5.99 on wednesday... Sounds kind of stupid if you ask me lol

Actually, it makes sense. Look at weekly ads. A game can be $30-45 one week then back to $60 the next. They had stuff cheap to get people in the door for their holiday sale. That's over now, so it's back to regular business for them. These items can sit on their shelves not selling and it doesn't exactly hurt them. I know my Blockbuster Video has a LOT of extra floorspace they can use... if they hold an item a few days-1 month longer to make $2-5 more for it, it's worth it to them. They pay the same cost for utilities/rent/etc. every month if they have 1 item or 50000 items in the store.
 
My store had some DVDs for .99. I picked up Babel and the Kids are All Right.


I still could not find No Country for Old Men on Blu Ray. Would anyone be willing to sell a copy to me if they find an extra?

If anyone can find a copy of My Soul to Take or Case 39 in those .99 deals please let me know, I'd be interested in working out a trade. So far no BBV around me has had them but there are still 2 more I need to check out. Anyone know of any in NH with the sale?
 
Damn, Chubbyporky... I wish I had seen that list before the sale ended. I passed over 3-4 extra Girl w/ Dragon Tattoo and Kicked Hornets Nest that I would have definitely picked up... not to mention the extra Discs 1 and 4 of Spartacus I found. Would have loved to snag When in Rome, Book of Eli and Sex Drive (movie is pretty funny) from you.

Didn't find a single Girl Who Played With Fire, Mean Girls, Book of Eli... which is weird, but did nab some other extra desirables though.

Wow. Nice fine. I was debating if I should it a Xbox 360 arcade. It has a tag for $75. Anyone know when the 75% off starts? Will it apply to the console?

Anyone picked up those pic frames at BBV? I saw Toy Story, Cars, Mickey, 101 D., the goonies. Most of the frames price at $14.99. Is it worth it if its 75% off?

Found a store that had a few I hadn't seen. Also picked up a second copy of Ponyo with the hopes of trading for 9. They had several I'd already found: Alice in Wonderland, Scott Pilgrim, Red Cliff 1/2, etc. Wish I'd found the store when the deal first started! :(
