OTHER INFO

I consider deals confirmed when I receive the MAP on every other Thursday. The Map outlines promos and how the store is to be layed out and includes the barcodes for the deals. Also we get the new trade flyers that day as well with new trade values and deals.

Deals usually end on close of business on Monday and begin on open Tuesday (some special ones do start on Thursday usually around labor day, memorial day, etc.)

They also have coupons in magazines for great deals, so be sure to check EGM, GamePro, and several other magazines.

GameRush is starting to expand, so check the store locator every once in awhile to see if one is coming to an area near you.

All BlockBuster's should now accept trades, so the trade in prices for BB and GR should be similar, but normal BBs will not always have the deals that GameRush has.

GameRush accepts game trades without case and instructions and the games can be in poor condition depending on the employee.

You must have a BB account and sign a trade agreement to trade at GameRush.

Please be careful if you scam GameRush (by flipping games) they do have the abillity to ban you from all GameRush locations if they want to (and as I have done but that was only because I was tired of crap PS1...).

Release dates - Go by the shipping date. 9 times out of 10 it is not what the Blockbuster computer says. The computer date is when traditional stores can expect to receive their rental games.

Game Rush receives games typically on Tuesday and Wednesday of the games release. Only reason EB and Gamestop get them a day before is because they get special shipments or their dm picks the games up and brings back that evening (or they are near distribution centers).

Some games have street dates but this is few and far between (outrun 2, halo 2, star wars episode 3, doom 3 are it in the past 6 months).

Is TECMO ARCADE going to retail at $50???? If so, that sucks....I was curious in it, but not for that price.

I still need to do some more trades.....I will prolly trade my UC2, ESPN MLB 2K5 and possibly Midnight Club 3....I may want to get that back eventually, but not right now. I'll take my credit for it. Hopefully my store still has a decent preowned left.

Ok, I've got a question that I'm sure has been answered before...But since you all think I'm cool I'm sure you'll answer it again-

I know GR has certain restrictions on trading. And I know you can't take in more than two of the same title to trade in. My question is, does the limit 2 same game trade-in only count during a single transaction, or is it enforced throughout your trade-in history? I.e., if I trade in two copies of Metal Arms today and then trade in an another copy a week later, will they take that third copy on a later date?

Thanks to anyone that can answer this for me.

The limit is 2 a day not just over your trade history. I know this for a fact because I traded in 3 copies of Tiger Woods 2004 when I found it on sale at KB Toys for 7 bucks and they were giving 14 bucks trade in credit for it. Traded 2 on Tuesday then went back on Wednesday to trade in the third copy. As long as you don't trade in like ten copies of the same title you should be fine especially if you trade them in at other locations.

up to 2 copies of the same game per day, that is fine to trade in 2 one day, then one another day. just curious, do you just have 3 copies of metal arms from your collection, or do you know of a store where you can buy them for cheap and sell them to gamerush at a profit?

Thanks for the answers...And no, I don't have three extra copies of Metal Arms, I used it as example though because I did pick up two at my local Target for $2.48. In most circumstances I would have only bought one for myself, but I remembered the GR deal and got an extra one.

no i preordered it for 19.99, also preordered midway 3, just for the offroad race and cali rush, i wish nintendo would cme out with a greatest hits, i would love to play them on gamecube
Sounds like, from Cory's last post, that your entire transaction history should be on their computer so you should be able to ask what happened when you cancelled those preorders.
Techically its in the store system for 90 days, the nafter that unless there is a glitch (I can't find out what causes it but some accounts have longer histories but they all start with something different so I don't know what causes it).

After the 90 days though it goes into the corporate database for quite awhile but the store has to send a form in and there is a wait time. (not sure how long those are stored but I would guess 7 years as thats how long trade records are stored for bbv).

Unfortunently you'll haft to wait for Revolution (but at least you get n64, snes, and nes too)

just curious, when you got banned, did you really lose all of your preorders and/or credit? that doesnt seem right. i cant belive blockbuster can take away over $500 worth of preorders away
What you can do is carefully explain to the manager on duty (i would speak to the store manager if ya can) what you would like to do and explain that the trade credit you would get back would still be less than the $25 (I can't think of any ten titles $4.99 and under that will get you a combined $25 as most are $1.00 or 50 cents)

They can note your account too so that it doesn't look as bad.

Just explain your situation and be very polite and understanding if they say no (though I would personally since I know you couldn't trade them in for more, and just so long as you don't start a flipping cycle why the heck not? you get to sample some cheap easy games, i get some numbers to tout when you trade them back, blockbuster doesn't lose anything and everyones happy)
thanks for the advice cory. tomorrow when i go to cancel my MVP baseball preorder, ill take to the manager. thanks for giving a helping hand

for everyone in the orange county area:

the tustin gamerush will let you doubledip. trade in 3 games, get a game for 30, and get a used game for $5. if you trade in 9 games, get 4 games for 30, and get 3 used for 5. i think you are getting the idea. i recommened you speak to jarrid. hes a really nice guy, and he always takes care of his customers.

nextgen preorders:
my gamerush is taking names for xbox 360 and ps3. once they get a part # in the system for ps3 and 360, they will call you and let you know you can put money down. i am assuming you can do this at all gamerushes?

Actually I'm assuming yes. We had a fax Friday morning stating that we could do this.

I don't know what it is with Blockbuster and the part #s.
We still have nothing on Mario Kart or Animal Crossing DS or bout anything new really despite all my efforts.

Hopefully one day I'll have access to the system to do all this...

I have a meeting next week with out games territory specialist on Wednesday evening with the Game Managers.

Any questions I should ask? He's the nearest to corporate as I can get without hostile takeovers.

My main thing will be getting part #s into the system quickly regardless if there is not a set price or date. hey if eb and gamestop can do it why not? credit/reserves can always be moved around.

if its not too much of a hassle, i am really curious to see if once they get next gen systems/games in the system, will they have the games listed at 59.99? if they are, we wont be able to preorder them for $30. maybe we could get them for $40 instead?

is the 10 games (4.99 or less) for 25 still official?

im sorry im asking this so much, (taking meds for anxiety, seriously) but if i get 10 games for 25, keep them for a week or 2 (ill play them, but the main reason is to get some cheap games), can blockbuster really ban me? does blockbuster corpoate take care of bannings, or is it the individual store, or both? also, if i get banned, do i lose my preorders and credit? (all credit is on a giftcard) sorry for so many questions, but if i decide to do it, this will be my first time flipping (although i will wait at least 10 days). just want to know all of the "loose ends" before i might go through with it. thanks for any help

Ask if they're going to be starting Xbox 360 preorders soon...say you've had a lot of interest in it...well you have, on this forum anyway :) Let them know that Gamestop have done pre-orders for it already!

Oddly enough I've had alot of people talking about Revolution too . I intend to bring up all three but Blockbusters turned oddly pro Microsoft/Sony lately.

I traded in Haven, Spawn and Shadow of Destiny and got Doom 3 Collector's Edition (!) for $5. I LOVE this deal! I have enough trade fodder to go back 3-4 more times.

haha. nah. just wanted some answers.

heads up for you guys:

ebgames sells NHL 2004 for 5 bucks. and gamerush gives 8 in credit. trading nba live 2004, nhl 2004, and malice, powerdrome, or eternal ring (malice is 10 new at GS, gets 11) (powerdrome is 10 new at GS, gets 11) eternal ring is 4 used at eb, gets 3) can be a great trifector (sp?). can make 2-4 bucks on the games.

I managed to get to a couple of local Gamerushes today after getting back from E3 to take advantage of some things ;) I would say that I made quite a big haul myself (with no intention of flipping...just enjoying the games I did pick up)

Traded in the following:
PN03 - $3.00
Twisted Metal Black - $3.00
Enter The Matrix (2) - $1.00 each
Hot Shots Golf 4 - $14.00
Ninja Gaiden - $14.00

Rolled out of there with the following:
Shadow Of Rome - $5.00
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes - $26.99
Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly (PS2) - $14.99
Xenosaga - FREE
Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath - $5.00

All for $18 out of pocket with tax...not bad ;)

I searched through this thread to find if this was posted, but my local Gamerush also had another deal going on with new titles for $9.99 or less. They had a flier with a lot of titles on it (and since I don't have a scanner), I will type this up for your viewing pleasure....

At the end of the flier, it states "Hundreds Of Games To Choose From" so this is not an all inclusive list at all either. I added Eternal Darkness to the list from what I saw in store at two GR that I went to today. They were busy remarking some of the new games on the floor and had a section set aside with all of the "bargain games"

If someone can find me a Wario World, I sure would appreciate it :)
nice run joe fongul. how was e3
E3 was fun as always (this was my 11th E3 if you can believe that...damn I'm old :D) because I didn't go into the show expecting a lot of Next Generation titles to be shown on the floor itself (there was a kiosk for Auto Wars in the Sega booth though...loads of fun when the demo station was working!) I really didn't want to wait in line for hours just to see a PS3 movie or play the new Zelda (I figured I would play them eventually & I would rather walk around then wait in line)

My games of the show: Devil Kings, Okami, Phantasy Star Universe, Genji, Shadow Of The Colossus, Dragon Quest VIII, Beatdown, Urban Reign, Nanobreaker!

Trading in the stuff I grabbed from my store before it closed. I'm not even halfway through, and I've got $140. Working out pretty well, I've got a few games that I wanted (DISGAEA! BAHAHA), pretty happy so far.
heads up for you guys:

ebgames sells NHL 2004 for 5 bucks. and gamerush gives 8 in credit. trading nba live 2004, nhl 2004, and malice, powerdrome, or eternal ring (malice is 10 new at GS, gets 11) (powerdrome is 10 new at GS, gets 11) eternal ring is 4 used at eb, gets 3) can be a great trifector (sp?). can make 2-4 bucks on the games.
Powerdrome is $5 new at CC, both PS2 and Xbox versions. And EB does better on Malice too, the PS2 version is 7.99 used. It used to be 4.99 new but I don't know if that still applies. And its "trifecta" :)

And while we're going through the cheapies, PS2 Auto Modellista 3.99 used at EB = $5 credit at GR.

I've been scouring the "D" section of my GR every time I'm there to get Disgaea - no luck so far... (I ask occasionally, also, though it is kind of an embarassing title to ask for - you have to say the name 10 times and then spell it :D).

Edit: Oh yeah, congratulations!

You pretty much got it there Cory - getting part #'s - particularly for the next gen preorders (PS3 and Revo for me) and, if possible, the E3-featured games that I listed previously (that are mostly Fall releases though one site has Mario Baseball for late summer). I know they weren't in the preorder system this last week.

Thanks!
Oh, yeah, here's the list of games I'm waiting for them to add, that I verified were NOT on the May 16th fax that they showed me:
PS2
Tales of Legendia
Okami

PSP
Star Wars Battlefront 2 (this is in for PS2 not for PSP)
That makes me sad they don't have Legendia or Okami yet. I've been hoping we'd get them listed since I first heard about them a few months ago. I guess it makes sense Okami isn't yet since we just got word we'd actually get it but Legendia has been confirmed for awhile. I can finally go reserve Battlefront 2 for PS2 then it seems, whoo.

Cory, about questions to ask, could you please ask why Gamerush stores don't get games from Atlus and if it is possible to get them in the future. Thanks!
just curious, when you got banned, did you really lose all of your preorders and/or credit? that doesnt seem right. i cant belive blockbuster can take away over $500 worth of preorders away
i wish i was kidding, i had to beg to get reinstated, but it worked. i can only trade at one store. which sucks cuz i have 7 in my area. but i learned not to keep all eggs in one basket. i have started to cancell preorders and stock up games to trade when those games come out.

My theory on the part #s is that I think Blockbuster is picky about what games it carries and wants to be sure they get the stuff that will sell moreso than the others. It sucks but I don't see why the shouldn't. Hardware sorta makes sense but even then.

I dont think we will be able to preorder the new generation console games with the trade in 2 for $29.99 because it doesnt state them on the flyer and the fact that the xbox 360 games are listed at $60 per title at ebgames. this is what an employee had to say at gamerush.
no i preordered it for 19.99, also preordered midway 3, just for the offroad race and cali rush, i wish nintendo would cme out with a greatest hits, i would love to play them on gamecube
Thanks...I forgot about Midway3 also....all racing games, righT? I may have to pick those up eventually for $20 a pop.

Well, I have to trade in a few more games, since I have a rental to take back today anyways.

Bye bye UC2

The Game Rush near me is running a 5 PS1 games for $15.00. It may just be because they have a ton of Ps1 games though.

It all. Also you can get 10 for $25 on any preowned $4.99 and lower (though you might find some that will let it work with more, but don't try really any over $6.99)

Will that deal be YMMV Cory?

EDIT: The any game under 4.99 part. Could I buy PS2 and such games? I would collect some old sports games if its anyhting under 4.99

So all of the Ps1 games are 5 for $15? Any restrictions?

The store didn't have any signs about the 10 for $25 deal. Will they still do it?

Yeah the old sports games is basically why I think blockbuster is doing it, to help clear out inventory.

It isn't YMMV though some stores may not be aware of it. It came in a special thing from fedex though your store may have flyers for it. You can mix and match any preowned for any system as long as it's $4.99 or lower.

The barcode for the deal is 5610xa00043 .
So all of the Ps1 games are 5 for $15? Any restrictions?
No. Just so long as its PREOWNED ps1 games.

the new ones are buy 1 get 1 free.

I actually just went to blockbuster, and someone had an ad showing some $9.99 games. Nothing mindblowing, but some that arent too bad. I picked up Riddick for $9, NBA Street 2 for $9, and X-Men Legends for $19

i knew about CC, but all CC within 20 miles of me are sold out of Powerdrome for both systems. thanks for the tip on malice. i think i will have to go to eb today (GS is around the corner, EB is a 15 minute drive). also, ill make sure to gert an Auto Modellista and learn how to spell "trifecta"

im hoping i can get nhl live 2004, nba live 2004, malice, powerdrome, auto modellista, and a zoo cube. that equals 3 games for 30 and 2 games for 5. im out

You might check again, I noticed that my CC got some more Power Dromes in recently and they have the correct price tag on them (the ones I bought recently have a $29.99 sticker on them)...and ofcourse the new ones have a $4.96 sticker on them.

thank you for the tip. ill call my CC right now

On the last trade 3 deal I was able to make 12,000 dollars in credit by flipping games and paying my friends and family to flip along with me. That credit was used to buy thin PS2 and other rare games for the last 5 months and sell it all on Ebay for a premium.
I plan on beating my last total by hiring people from the local plasma donation center and giving them 20% cash for every blockbuster dollar they can raise for me. I have totally exploited the DFW area and I plan on working to the San Antonio area soon.

I LIKE PLAYING GAMES BUT I LIKE MAKING MONEY WAY MORE!

Cory, my blockbuster does not know about the 10 for $25 deal. They checked and could not find any mention of this promotion. Is this promotion nationwide and my blockbuster just doesn't know about it. Will they or will I get in trouble if they use the code manually. Thanks!
