Backround: My computer is old, but gets the job done. All i really use it for is browsing the internet and some odds and ends. Nothing dramatic. It's a 1.6 P4 from 2001.
I generally take care of it, but it's definitely been showing signs of it's age lately.
Recent:
My girlfriend downloaded something from lego.com (yeah, the building block). I came home and saw it was screwed. The download killed it, but i'm sure it might have happened sooner or later anyways.
It loads up windows, and a few seconds before it gets to the login screen it blue screens with this error:
Paging_error_in_nonpaged_area
I've done my research and eliminated some possibilites, but i'd like to make sure my harddrive is screwed before I lose all my data and reformat it.
I've done chkdsk, removed my ram and put it back, ect.
I noticed my radeon 9700s fan stopped working, not sure if this would cause this error but if it does, would be nice to know so I don't have to reformat.
I've narrowed it down to two possibilities: My video card, or my harddrive's current status.
Any help would be great. I'm about to reformat it, just want to make sure I'm not losing all my data in vein.
