Jimbo: The best thing you can do is watch the trilogy 2-4. I think 6 is interesting as well it's basically the story of how
Klingons/Federation become allies and Kirk+crew's last mission
I believe they're releasing the trilogy as a set tomorrow as well. 3 is the weakest of the bunch, but all of them are better than 1 and 5.
Thanks.
How do you keep up with this sort of thing, rabbitt? I usually just check every one or two years for new material (although Soundamus has helped a lot on that front).
I don't have any particular method. Usually, I just wonder what X is up to, and check their myspace.
If so, unplug your ethernet cable, disconnect your powersupply, smash your monitor, wrap your computer in a blanket and bury it in your back yard.
What does that have to do with Linux?
(I'm actually on Windows 7 right now because Ubuntu has some problems I'm too lazy to fix right now, but yeah.)
Hey , would you say your Osx86 Mac is a better investment than just getting a Macbook (performs well, etc)? I'm deciding whether I should build a new PC or get a Macbook/osx86-book, but if the osx86-book performs well I might be able to build a new PC too with the money I'd save.
Very good. I'd give it probably 4-4.5/5 stars. There are a couple of plot holes/issues I have, and I don't think it was a good decision to kinda half-ass explain Nero's motivation/backstory. I would have preferred if they went into more depth on that.
I think the casting was perfect. I loved all the characters, especially McCoy. Kirk was great as the sort-of-changed guy, and Spock I loved because I always thought there wasn't enough conflict about his half-human side (it was briefly discussed in Trek 3/4, but was pretty much ignored throughout the series).
The sfx/audio/all that was superb. The scene where the Enterprise came up from the rings of saturn was
I have really really high expectations for the next one. I'm hoping for something that can equal or surpass Khan. They definitely need a superb villian next movie. Khan was so effective because he was actually stronger/"smarter" than Kirk, but Kirk just had the home court advantage. Khan almost killed Kirk in the original episode as well, and only failed because he was betrayed by Khan's future-wife. Khan is pretty much Trek's Joker, the perfect foil for Kirk. I don't know if they can do Khan though, it'd almost be a cop-out unless they completely rethink his character.
I think an interesting route they could possibly go is with Spock's half brother who is kinda insane and could be made completely badass if he does what he did in 5
convince Spock to side with him and take over the ship.
All and all I'm just really excited to have so many people love the movie and want to see more. I'm finally able to talk Trek with a lot of my friends who weren't interested before. Oh, and the action scenes were friggin amazing
MacBooks straight-up are , but I cannot justify paying that much for a computer. If I were you I'd get a $600 Lenovo off a Slickdeal and live with Windows 7.

Nice mini review...so far I've seen a mix of love/hate from existing Trek fans. You lost me on sequel talk though
Haha, the people who hate who are Trekkies are either nitpicking or not realizing this is an origin story. Trek has always included some huge commentary (Wrath of Khan was the fact Kirk felt invincible/immortal and found out he wasn't, Undiscovered Country is an allegory for the Cold War and the "falling of the wall"), I think they can incorporate that into the next film though.
Have you ever seen a space shuttle launch in person, Rokk0?
Nah, I'm not near Kennedy Space Center, but I can see the shuttles go off outside of my house and hear/feel the booms when the re-enter the atmosphere.

As someone with a 4.0 unweighted GPA, that would enrage me. :/
