Bond announced!!!

Had my hopes up for Clive Owen, but not a bad choice by any means. The biggest problem is that MGM more or less blamed the sagging profits of Bond movies on the fact they had an aging star as Bond. Not the fact they hired poor writers and directors... cause nooooo it was all Brosnan. But they are supposedy going to some ends to get some decent writers and directors this time around. Will be interesting.

I totally wanted to see brosnan do another two movies, he is my favorite bond and i think they just fucked it all up. but we shall see...

There's no way that guy is only 37. He looks like my grandfather for christ's sake. I should have been the next Bond.
Is Tarentino directing Casino Royal. He said he wanted to do that.
No. The director is Martin Campbell. To his credit, he's already done 1 Bond film (GoldenEye). He also directed the Zorro movies, which were excellent.

I too wanted Bronsan to stay a while longer but I guess it isnt so. I think the new guy is pretty good but I still think he has some big shoes to fill considering the caliber of the acters before him.

One word: nonfilters.

damn, I was hoping it wasn't going to be him, hopefully I can get over his blondeness and his antagonist role as Conor in Road to Perdition

Well, the first "new" Zorro movie was fun. The second one isn't even released for a fortnight, though, so I'm not sure how you can say it "was excellent".

OT, but who the fuck has ever used the word "fortnight" since, oh, I dunno...Sir Gawain and the Green Knight?

Oddly enough IIRC Sony (who owns MGM now I think) were the ones actually pushing for Brosnan to come back when time was running out. It was Eon, the production company, that was so against whole idea of Brosnan coming back all along, sony just kind of went with it at frist then when Eon found no one for awhile Sony started saying they could use Brosnan again.

I was hoping for Clive Owen as well....but Daniel Craig was good in Road to Perdition. He is worthy. I do agree with jmfell though....Bronson is still the man. It just needed better writters.

Pretty much anyone with a decent vocabulary and grasp of the English language, I would have thought.

But as an Englishman living in America, maybe I'm wrong? It's perfectly commonplace as far as I'm aware.

I'm not the kind of person to demean someone's use of grammar; I truly thought it was a very outdated word (and thus as absurd to use in the modern context as "thee" or "thine," for instance).

Sorry if I appeared a bit harsh in my reply, in that case. It's an extremely commonly used word in England, and I figured it must be here too.

You learn something new every day. :)

Bah, I have all manner of fun throwing in English words/expressions, phrases and words from different time periods, and other American dialects from outside my region of the US in my everyday conversations.
Well this will be interesting to see if they let him keep his blonde hair or have him die it brunette.
It will be dyed. If you want to see a recent Daniel Craig movie watch Layer Cake. It's a British gangster movie and he's pretty good in it. Plus, it also has Sienna Miller so you can see who Bond has been snogging. There's a British term for you.:) If it isn't out on DVD yet it will be real soon.

Also, Layer Cake was directed by Matthew Vaughn. He was going to direct X-Men 3 until he decided he didn't want to move his family from England to Vancouver for a couple of years. Our loss since we're stuck w/Brett Ratner now.

Oh, and on topic, they spend all this time looking for a younger bond and what do they come up with? A bond that doesn't look that much younger than Brosnan #-o. Oh well, I'll have to see how things turn out. The last bond movie that I really liked was Golden Eye.

Haha true. That new guy just look old. At least Brosnan was old and hot.
