Brink on D2D

Not a bad deal at all imo since the game has yet to be released and it uses steamworks so you don't have to worry about the terrible service that is Direct2Drive.

Enjoy

The dollar sign goes INFRONT of the amount.
That will be all.

OT: Cool deal, makes me wish they would make games for the mac.

That's a great deal and all, but kind of sucks that I pre-ordered from D2D back in January so my price is stuck at $50. I put in a help ticket so let's see if D2D is willing to price-match D2D. :p

What is the point in pre-ordering a PC game at retail that many months in advance anyway?

I saw the thread, and thought "this poor op is going to get flamed, let's go check for bodies."

:'(

Let us know how it goes but last I tried them on another product they said "you were willing to buy it at the previous price before... " and wouldn't let me change/cancel.

I can't decide which platform I want to play this game on, and it really depends on which community is going to be bigger...anyone with any insights/guesses?

This game looks awesome and I'm really tempted, but I'm going to hold off. I want to see how good (or bad) of a port the PC version is and chances are it will require a few patches to fix bugs/balance/etc.

PC is the better version and will have the best community.

The first two games in the Enemy Territory series were PC games, so all the long-time Splash Damage fans will be playing PC.

PC also has dedicated servers and a higher maximum player count.

Ok cool. But what about customizable keys? A FoV higher than 75? Advanced graphic options? DirectX 11 support?

Has there been any footage released of PC gameplay?

If I really want a game I probably would pre-order it too, but not online :)

I like how suddenly that there's a 25% off code the 10% discount on pre-orders is gone. Now the 25% discount makes it a whopping dollar cheaper than when it was $45 with a 15% code.

Yeah, pretty lame.

Anyways, I pre-ordered this from D2D the other day with this code, came out for $40.50 after tax. Not a bad price. Been looking forward to this one for awhile now.

Anyone try to enter their code into steam yet? I just tried and it said my code was already entered and it would not let me continue, so I just made a ticket with D2D and asked what the problem was. Just curious if anyone else had this issue.
I was able to enter my code
Ok, I went ahead and made a support ticket with D2D with a screenshot showing the steam error message. I hope they get back fairly quick

A lot of people type, some games have people voice chatting though.
Really depends on the game. Other games a lot of people talk in Ventrilo or TeamSpeak servers
Do PC games like this generally have a lot of voice chat users? That's why i like 360 is because most people have headsets.
yeah and the xbox 360 users with headsets yell racist and stupid things. Maybe 1/10 players I paired up with are useful. Now xbox party chat is good though.

To fully answer your question, yeah plenty of PC gamers have and use a microphone, properly.

The latest steam hardware survey shows nearly 80% of people surveyed have a mic.

Hm. This game got reamed on IGN. It got a 6.0.

There are eight maps in Brink, and depending on the faction, the goals are slightly different. Teams either place explosives, hack devices, escort a VIP, or operate machinery on one side, or simply do the opposite for the other faction. Unfortunately, there are only so many ways to tackle these same objectives time and time again on a small number of maps.

An online shooter needs variety, depth, and addictiveness to succeed over the long term. Brink might find a niche with some hardcore fans, but it isn’t for everyone. I'd love to see more of the parkour gameplay, but one mechanic isn't enough to carry an entire game. Brink has heart, but the overall package is lacking.

I think I'll wait and see how 1) the online community does and 2) where the price drops leave the price... $40 for a game with 8 maps, with each map having only one goal and no option for changing AND effectively no single player? Sounds like this should have been Torchlight-like indie and much cheaper. At least they released server software...

So disappointing, I was hoping this game would be great.

You shouldn't go on just ONE review. Besides, IGN is known for giving bad reviews. Either play the game, watch a stream of the game, or watch videos/ read more reviews and see if its something that you would enjoy playing.

im always in a party vc of 10 friends whenever im on steam, makes gaming a lot more fun.

If anyone still has their pre-order code, you can sell them for a pretty high price on eBay.
Sold my code for $33... paid about $5 for the game :D

If anyone wants to help out a CAG, PM me and let me know you saw my message in this thread and I'll sell you my download code for the full Brink game for $35. You have to use it on Steam too. My computer is too crappy to play it.

I must say this is a really fun game. I really enjoy objective based games though and this one is great. Parkour is useful and the classes are solid. The customization is all there too, with guns, grips, scopes, etc. I dunno why all the hate, there's a lot of good fun to be had. For $38, it's a solid price. I've drop that much on dinner with me and the GF more often than I care to admit.

There are multiple objectives for each map. Then there are the two sides. I expect more maps to come out though.
