Brink (PS3/360) - $9.99 @ Amazon
And my only thought is, "Can it get to 4.99 by BF?"
most retailers were pricing games $9.99 on BF in the past, Amazon has always price matched it though
This game dropped like a a dark souls player....anybody know why? is it that horrible?
yes, i hear its quite bad

The biggest issue though is its pretty much an online multiplayer only game, and since it sucks so bad, no one plays it.. soooo, not really sure what youd do with an online game that no one is playing. I would have picked it up to play at

According to most reports, yes.

And to think, I was once excited about this game...

Goshdarnit. It makes the Gamefly 9.99 sale for this game seem overpriced since theirs were used and included tax.

It had bad reviews. People on my friends list also didn't like it.

A few things in this game were laughably bad (like when your mission is to escort a hostage from point a to point b, and he gets pumped full of about 10 million bullets along the way but you can keep on reviving him). It just LOOKS so stupid it's almost funny. The whole campaign is basically structured around objective based co-op gameplay, even when you play solo it very much feels like a co-op game rather than a proper campaign.

Strangely, I still found it pretty fun though. It had some weird addictive quality for me. I picked it up for $9.99 when best buy had it at that price, I'd say it's definitely worth a quick playthrough and then trade it in.

I was excited for this game as well. I remember watching some gameplay videos during the beta testing, and it looked really good. Once the game came out though...another story happened.
Pretty sure you can play any mission in the game either solo or co-op and it's the same mission either way. I messed around a bit online, but played most of it solo because like you said not alot of people playing. I think it would actually be pretty fun to play online if you had buddies that were into it (but I don't know a soul that played this game besides me).

All I know is I got pretty much every achievement/trophy playing OFFLINE (got the platinum trophy), and while the game was bad enough to laugh at it in parts. I never really felt like I had to force myself to play it or anything. It had some unique qualities and as far as the gameplay was concerned it was pretty good fun. IMO it's a good game to pick up, play for about 15 hours, then never think about it again.
hmm maybe, but playing a game designed for multiplayer in single player mode seems lame to me. Plus i hear the AI is HORRIBLE. Its nice you hav ethe option at least i guess. I heard the storys weak as hell too. They set it uo to be kinda epic and story driven then do nothing with it
The good part is, its a REALLY easy platinum. Barely took me 10 or so hours to do it
Probably its only redeeming quality. Though that "spot the mine" trophy was such a pain in the ass since the AI is too stupid to defuse anything.

Theres a trick to it, and after i figured it out it barely took 3 minutes to do.

Just wait for the Engineer to be within about 5-10 feet of the mine, THEN spot it. 9/10 times they will diffuse it

If you want to get into this game then get it on PC, the console versions are jokes. I bough it for xbox 360 when it came out and then on ps3 when my friend got it and sold it both times lol. Then i played it on steam when they had it free (just for the weekend) and it actually played decently, though not saying the game is great or anything. Interesthing though, and fun at times.

On a side note, i find it sad that the game literally just came out a few months ago, and the online is already dead xD. Though, its pretty easy to find people to boost achievements/trophies with

I didn't think it was that bad. I platinum'd it and enjoyed it. I bought it for $20 and have no regrets, outside of the fact that I could have gotten it cheaper.

I'll give it a shot for $10.

Best buy probably will give at least $5 for the foreseeable future.

I would say the game *IS* bad in the areas where it failed (story, graphics, animations, lack of online community), but it's also fun for a bit. Some games are so bad they don't even have a fun factor, this game was still fun. It's worth a playthrough, and if there was actually an online community I think playing through every mission until you beat them all online would have been quite addictive (because it was designed to be 8 humans vs 8 humans - offense vs defense). My feeling is nobody bought this game, and people that did don't really seem to take it online (they probably just played offline, like I ended up doing). I don't recall how the matchmaking worked, but I'm not sure there was a "quick match" option - you had to select a specific mission you wanted to do and just hope people were playing it. This might have had something to do with difficulties in finding a game, you almost need to arrange to have people play with you.

Sadly the lack of a community will probably leave you playing by yourself most of the time. But it's really not THAT bad doing that, it's more complex than just playing Botzone (Killzone 3) - but like I said it also still feels a bit like you are playing an 8 vs 8 multiplayer rather than a full fledged campaign - it's kind of somewhere in the middle between being a campaign and being an online mutiplayer. But still, at $9.99 what do people have to lose?

BB TIV is 7 bones, so you could likely boost that 30-50% depending on what bonus offers they will have. I doubt the TIV will tank much more than that....unless BB gets a mass dumpage of this game in the next week or two.

Pretty much what Agent said. I bought this for ten after last month's $20 off coupon at Best Buy and it's worth that $10. What drives me crazy is how the AI doesn't seem to adapt to handle each situation. It damn near forces you to do everything. I love the character design and gun/player customzation. But the game is far from what they promised. I haven't even been online yet, may never with all the games coming out soon and what I have now. I'll play the SP for a while and then trade it. But it's worth every bit of ten bucks.

i wanted this game when it first came out b/c i was intrigued by the parkour and platforming. i'm getting my fix in the uncharted 3 multiplayer at the moment. guess i'll pass.

I think I'll wait for it to drop to $5. Kinda interested, but bad reviews and the fact so much is coming out anyway make it easy to pass over.

Opening flipper hell here, but... The TIV is $17 at this for BBV. Get it from Amazon Warehouse and get paid $10 for your pain and suffering

Figured what the hell and bought a 360 copy from AWD for $7.49 just to get achievements. It really doesn't make any sense to buy Brink when Uncharted 3, Batman Arkham City, Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3 etc. are all just around the corner.

Gamestop sells Brink used for $26.99, so their TIV must be at least $7.49. I guess worst case scenario is a I get some achievements and trade it in to either GS, BBY or BBV. It's getting traded somewhere before Arkam city comes out in like a week.
I don't think it will go much lower...

If I order, will I get a slipcover? (ps3)
For some reason, Amazon hasn't been selling games with slip covers -- Bring and Rage being two recently known examples.

I pity anyone who bought it day one, week one, or month one. I can't even imagine the frustration of having paid $40-60 for this game. I was also someone who was intrigued by the elements of parkour and objective based gameplay (my usual preference over team deathmatch), but Bethesda just didn't deliver anything they promised with this game. I do really like the character/weapon customization although every single character face in this game is hideous. Picked it up through the Best Buy @Gamer mag deal mainly because they had the first DLC available for free that week, LoL like anyone will pay 800msp for it.

If you gave me 10$ to punch you in the stomach, your money would be better spent than buying this game. I bought it when it was on sale for 10$ at newegg last month, and it was a real stinker. There is absolutely no one online playing, and the AI is absolutely useless. It was probably the least fun 1k i have gotten.

The achievements are pretty easy, but I wish I had that 10 hours back.

My biggest complaints with brink:

1) bad map design. Tons of places with TERRIBLE choke points that halted the map at one spot if they didnt get a rush off quick.

2) Really really really stupid bots. They are either too powerful, or too dumb. But I guess at least they will revive you most time.

3) No Clear Offline/Online mode. You could not designate wether you wanted to play with everyone online w/o bots or vice versa.

Some of these things may have changed. The game had/has potential. the parkouring is kinda neat. Weapons are kinda fun but they feel mostly the same. If I got the agent of change free back when it was I would consider it for 10 bones, but its got a lot of flaws. I did pay it with a few friends with a party and it was loads more fun, but by yourself it can be like pulling teeth.

^Corrected that for you

I agree with you 100% except that Bethesda did not develop it. It is like being made at them for Fallout:NV or RAGE. They are working on Sykrim so I expect THAT to be an awesome game. Bethesda develops great games but some of the ones they publish are rubbish.

P.S. I rented this game for $1 and I won't pay a dime more. I see the $7.50 AWD price and think I will try it again but I just remind myself how frustrated I was playing this game and it passes.

someone here paid 60$ for this game. someone paid 40, and i paid 20 when it was DotD. so now you kids are Arguing whether or not its worth 10 measely bucks???? if you cant afford a 10 dollar game you shouldnt even be gaming in the first place. anything less than $10 they might as well just give the game to you for Free out of pity.

If you think its about the financial value of 10 dollars you are sorely mistaken.

If I sell a turd to you for 5 bucks you gonna turn it down? C'mon who cant afford 5 dollars.

Sorry "kid":applause:

Someone is mad they blew all of their allowance on this game. You need to understand where you are. This is CheapAssGamer. We value the money we spend on games. $10 is a lot of money to drop on a game you probably won't have much fun with. You're better off setting a $10 bill on fire. It'll be twice as entertaining as playing this turd.

i paid $60 for it ...and i would say its def. worth $10. I really enjoyed for about 5-6 hours but it was fucking crap after that...online has horrible lag and gets boring fast..there are many problems with the game, one of them being the lack of content...short game because single player = co-op = multiplayer..
I would say its worth anything under $25..

also for the trophy hunters, its a really really really easy plat ;)

edit: forgot to talk how bad the matchmaking is...it was horrible on day one and its still horrible. it would put you with bots on the 1st day the game came out...and online community is dead now so no online anymore
