I used the computer for about 2-3 months no problems. I was using the onboard HD3200 for video. I installed an Asus 4830 and then while watching video on WMP11 I get BSOD errors... mainly (Bad Caller Pool).
I was watching my temps CPU is running about 47c and Video Card is at 54-57c while watching a movie. I havnt had time to play many games, although when I ran Fallout3 on Ultra High settings I didn't experience any problems. Sometimes it will reset several times in an hour, other times it will let a video run for 12 hours (testing). It also when I ran a stress test for the card. I went ahead and removed the card and it just reset again while on video. I thought it may be the catalyst software, after uninstalling it all of the codecs are broken in WMP11 (reinstalling codecs doesnt work), but no problems in VLC or other players. I'm still testing it now, but figured I'd get a bargain on advice and ask here for any other solutions besides destroying it..buying better hardware :).

(Also tried reinstalling vista) no change.

Any Ideas?

Thanks!

Did you update to the latest video drivers(uninstall old drivers and reinstall new drivers)? Are you watching bad porn and installing strange codecs to WMP? Perhaps, you need to install new motherboard bios as well.

1) Try install a fresh WMP 11.
2) Download divx.
www.divx.com
3) install Combined Community Codec Pack (if you watch d/led anime)

Thanks for the advice,

The only thing I had installed was fresh copy was VLC and the combined codec pack.

I'll try just basic divx. I can't reinstall WMP11 because its default in Vista. My main concern is that I can't figure out if I have a HW problem and if I need to return the Ati 4830. I have a rebate to send in, and if I'm going to keep it I need to send it in. I'm still suspect of the 4830. If I was able to confirm that its a software problem then I would just use VLC.

Anyways for what its worth here is my test history.
BSOD with each reset
GOW2 vid, (reset) (first time before I redid windows on a different hd)
Harry Potter IV (Reset 20 minutes in)

Hulk Vs Wolverine (Ran 12 hours no problem) Unplugged some devices put a boxfan on PC to see if it was heat.

UFC fight (Reset) Devices still unplugged no fan on. (Case opened)
Cowboy Bebop (Ran 16 hours) Case closed was seeing if it was heat only had 1 case fan on
Played Fallout3 for 30 minutes (No probs) Case closed still
The Office (Reset after 5 minutes) then tried again
The Office (Reset after 2 minutes)
Did Video card stress test came back a few hours later, PC was frozen (Thought it was vid card)
Removed video card
The Office (Reset after episode was over)
Uninstalled catalyst software and just using vid driver. (WMP11 stopped working) no other problems yet.
