In short, it's the same Buy.com + Google Checkout + Free Shipping combo we're all familiar with, but now they've tossed in a magazine offer which, if you decline, you can apply for an additional $10 rebate within 30 days of your order. Tutorial is below.

As usual, Google Checkout is for "New" Customers.

Rebate Form: http://ak.buy.com/buy_assets/retail/pdfs/rebatebuy.pdf

Sorry if this has been posted before, a quick forum search came up empty.

(Just bought Avatar: The Complete Book 2 Collection for what will hopefully be $24.99, Retail being $59.99. CheapAss FTW.)http://www.buy.com/retail/coupon.asp?prid=84773074

Thanks for the link to the pdf. Some others have mentioned this before but this is the first time I have seen the actual rebate form.

The question is, where/how did you find this? I have made a number of > $15 purchases in the past few weeks but has never came across this "offer". Do you think I can just send in my old (< 30 days) purchases to claim this?

Thanks again OP.

I got a free year of TV Guide from this little offer a while back. Used GCO and got Brain Age 2, a year of TV Guide and a stylus set for $10. Nice!

If it's within 30 days, and within the promotional period, I don't see why not. The offer is shown before you checkout (the "Would you like 12 free isues of some BS magazine with your order?"), if you select "No Thanks", you can use the rebate once your order comes in.

I'll post a quick tutorial in the OP.

OP, i bought Splinter Cell last Friday, will it count? If it does i just got Splinter cell for free :)

What receipt are they looking for in the rebate? I got a packing slip in my order but that doesn't list the total charged. Note: My shipping and billing address is different. Will the billing address have a real receipt?

Ok thanks, I see it now on the left of the check-out page...

Has any of you managed to get your $10 rebate yet? In the small print, it says one per person... does that mean we cannot use it more than once? Has anyone tried??

Quick question. I've noticed people always citing the google checkout deal from buy.com. Problem is, I've already used it before. I can get the $10 off every time I google checkout?

Thanks

every time you make a new account. 1 account per email addy, but you can use the same CC card multiple times for maximum savings.

You can do that? Great googly moogly, and here I was sitting on my $10 off for something really awesome when there are games I'd kind of like to use it on.

Shame I can't really buy anything due to Christmas and birthdays wiping me out.

Yeah, worst case scenario, they call you on it and get all uppity about it. :)
Can you combine the Google Checkout, the $10 rebate for magazine, and the $30 for buy.com credit card?
I don't see why not. Each of the 3 promotions comes from a different vendor.

$10 Off: Google Checkout
$10 Off: Magazine Vendor
$30 Off: VISA

Meaning, each comission to Buy.com comes from each individual company, depending on which gains a new customer from the Buy.com traffic, and vice-versa.

I don't necessarily recommend getting a credit card for a discount, but to each his/her own.

Does the 15 dollars come after or before the 10 dollar check-out discount?

It's $10, not $15, and you have to decline the magazine offer before checking out, and mail in for the rebate AFTER your item arrives.

Actually I was using the same CC multiple of times, but lately it hasn't been accepting the same card.

Although I bet I used it all in one day on many items (like I use $10 off for two transaction with the same card), but then again I tried using the card later after the transaction and it wouldn't let me use it. I think there might be a limit other CAGs can confirm it or not...

Well, I don't really want a credit card either, but for $30 off of Guitar Hero 3 combined with the $20 savings and free shipping, it's a tempting deal, making it $48.99. Of course, I'd have to wait until the day it came out to order it, but I don't see that being a problem as long as all of these promotions are still in play by that time.

~HotShotX
It doesn't let you use the google checkout when you have the 5% off deal in your cart. Try it…

Right, so don't use it unless you're buying over $200 worth of stuff, use the $10 off GCO instead.

~HotShotX

I've been using GCO since July from buy.com.. send in the rebate.. still haven't heard anything.. also no magazines yet... i wouldn't count on getting the rebate.. but at least you still get the $10 discount.

If you have a paypal account you could just download the PayPal Vitrual Credit Card application and you have a new CC number every time you sign up. The Virtual CC is a one-time use number.

Thanks a lot OP. :)

I got The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (DS) for $23.99 shipped! :D

Hopefully the extra $10 rebate works, and I get it for $13.99. That would be amazing.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant is the $15 minimum applied before or after the first 10 dollar discount (using GCO). For example: Can you get something that is less than 25 dollars and still use both the GCO and the mail-in? (24-10=14/ 14-10=4)

Eh I'll probably just get something more expensive anyways.

whoa...really? i used it on a $20 GCO they had last december. if its that easy, i have multiple google accounts to use already :applause:

JUst want to confirm
I just received the 10 dollar rebate is from M2 Media group
But it took a WHile almost 7 months or so since I send the rebate
But it works
Anyone know any really good deals for this? I'm thinking about either Resident Evil 4 or Guilty Gear XX Accent Core.

If I like teh Orange box I shall use this for it
Why wouldn't you like the Orange Box? As it now stands, it is the number two game of all time on Gamerankings. You can't go wrong with HL2, Ep 1, Ep 2, Portal and TFC2. Now is really the first time I have wished for a 360....

Quick question, just ordered my DS from buy.com with these deals, the receipt you need to send in with the rebate form, would that be the one they email you, or the one you receive with your order?

Because not everyone likes FPS or multiplayer FPS.I forced myself to play Halo 3's sp campaign for 20 minutes and haven't played it since.I have no desire to pick up Orange Box or any other FPS for that matter.

For long gaming sessions I much rather be playing an RPG (current P3 for ps2) and for shorter sessions I play sports games (current MLB Power Pros for ps2 & Madden for x360).

Although the xbox 360 is VERY FPS heavy right now, that doesnt mean everyone that owns one likes that genre.

Did the magazine rebate a few months ago, it never came even after I harassed everyone involved. Be prepared to be screwed over by them.

WTF BUY.COM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ordered a nitendo ds black and crimson because of this deal, recieved it today only to find a white ds box in the box with only instructoins no SYSTEM!!!!!!! buy.com you are bull shit, waited on hold for over 45 minutes with none of your $.50 per hour employees in INdia picking up, hope you like your BBB complaint filed, and I will recieve my money back!!!!!!!!!!

anyone have anything similar through buy.com

wow that sucks,I hear about stories like that on the news (when a kid bought madden 07 and disc inside was a porno comes to mind) but thankfully never experienced anything like that.

I hope you get your money back, but how do you plan to prove your case? It would essentially be your word against theirs if they dont believe you.

Keep us posted on that, I honestly doubt that it wouldn't be resolved either through buy.com or your bank. One thing though, if you're looking to prove your case, perhaps the shipping/packing weight would come into effect?

Weigh the entire shipping box/ DS box, etc. (without a DS), record the number, then weigh it with the DS. Find out which weight matches the one on the box/packing slip, and use that as ammo.

Quick question, just ordered my DS from buy.com with these deals, the receipt you need to send in with the rebate form, would that be the one they email you, or the one you receive with your order?

As for the rebate (which I'm sure you want to hear about at this time), I'd send copies of both the packing slip and the online receipt.

This happened to me once with buy.com
i think gamebreaker for the ps2 (cheat disc), when i ordered it the case was completely empty, i thought i dropped it or mis-placed it or something but it was completely gone.
It took a few weeks/a month but buy.com sent a replacement pretty quickly, so have faith.

It sucks cause it takes so damn long but as least your not comepletely f'd

PS you cant do a pre-order with GCO, not sure if anyone knows this or not.

So you cant get orange box for ps3 for $30...yet :D
I did this thing before but I never received anything :(
I did the same sort of thing, too, from a Newegg purchase. It literally took 6-8 months for the rebate to come in, but better late than never.
