2 seperate things. The demo is out for #3, and I can't play it because it doesn't think my DX9 is right. It's a normal problem I've heard for EA demos.

Also, came across http://www.apathbeyond.com while looking for the demo. Renegade engine but it's a Red Alert TC. Demonoid has the full thing plus the patches(it runs standalone with it's own modifications to the files)

Over 1 GIG for the CNC3 demo :( No way I am downloading that! I can wait another month for the final release. Second.......... A path beyond I will wait til the full release hits because I am too lazy to find the renegade discs and install the mod at this time.
 
People still play Renegade?

I remember trying to play it online when it came out... horrible. no one would cooperate and it lagged bad. And it'd always crashed and I could see people through walls.

it was kinda fun for awhile on line. There were times I hosted games that involving having everyone get into there side's car and do a race. I would have people mine certain areas of the road on the map to make it dangerous (like death race). It would be fun until some ass would come around and ruin it for everyone.
 
I'm semi-interested in this (picked up Supreme Commander last week, so I'm basically set for now regarding RTSs), so I'll probably check it out via a magazine demo disc. 1.2 GB is a bit much, just for a demo.

Not really. SupCom was the one that shocked me. It's demo was a ~1.1GB download too. Having dealt with that, the C&C3 demo size didn't phase me.
 
I dled the demo while sleeping. I can say that the game solid. the only downside is that it is not radically different. Its more of a generals with super enhancements than a stand alone. For the movies and some sound effects they got http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000461/ to act as a 3 star general.
