Congratulations to the entire CAG community as we beat our goal of $40,000, raising a whopping $42,810! Thanks to all who participated including our great corporate sponsors Play-Asia, Telltale Games (Tales of Monkey Island), Capcom (Dark Void), and Blueberry Muffin Tops Cereal.

In 2008, CAGs raised over $32,000 (up from $27K in 2007) for Penny Arcade's Child's Play charity. This year, let's see if we can hit $40,000 before the year is through.

For every $5 donated via PayPal through the CAG ChipIn system, you will receive one entry into a raffle to win a $500 Amazon Gift Certificate or other great prizes! Last year, the CAG Community donated some really cool and generous prizes and I'm sure the tradition will continue this year. I expect the prize list to grow and grow until the very end of the fundraiser.

You must donate through the ChipIn system or your raffle entry will not register. Use any of the ChipIn links in this post or the widget below. Just click the "ChipIn" button to donate. Donations are accepted via PayPal and go directly to Child's Play. ChipIn tracks our donations as a group, but the money is immediately deposited into Child's Play's PayPal account.

Tales of MI makes a really good prize, and I'm happy to see Telltale Games showing their support (because I'm a fan of them as a company already). Already donated, but I'll chip in again later on in the month if I can.
 
Its a mess in the mid-atlantic due to a storm, so its a good day for gaming, and a good day to donate to Child's Play - imagine these kids sick in a hospital, but the are able to play some games to lift their spirits! We can help that happen!
 
Come on you guys, we can do better than this! People are blowing $6 on that shitty Lost game, $10 on that terrible TMNT: Smash Up, $40 on a Halo helmet!

If you were thinking about doing any of that ridiculous shit: don't. Toss half the money into the Child's Play fund and do the world the world a huge favor as well as saving a few bucks. Plus, you know, helping some sick kids be a little less miserable.

Not that you guys need to be told or anything.
 
I've spent many hours working in the local children's hospital and I've seen the positive impact that games have on kids fighting major illnesses. I'm proud to chip in and do my part.
 
I think perhaps the goal was set a bit high. I was amazed it went the way it did last year. I think even 35k would have been a tad much to push for. I mean, I put in the same amount I did last year (which is not much by the way), but other are forced to, by the economy, either cut or not make a donation at all.

Oh well, the total is only a goal to shoot for, and whatever is raised is nice.
 
not even 1000 contributors, giving the traffic this site gets it's kinda sad that people who frequent this site and saves alot of money every year cant even cough up 5 bucks.

I'll cough up some more cash when my paycheck comes on wednesday!

what is the total sitting at right now? For some reason the counter isn't updating for me and is sitting at 5k right now. It probably has to do with a ton of sites being blocked for me.

Just donated $65. I started at $50 the first year I did it and try to add $5 more each year.

My family has seen firsthand the impact this has on kids (including one of mine) who are frequent visitors or are receiving treatment at children's hospitals. I hope we can reach this goal!

Also, I won a prize last year! Going for 2 in a row!

It's been a tough year for us financially (new baby, pay cut, went to single income, lots of medical bills), but in the end it wasn't hard to just eliminate a gift that I was going to give my wife and use that for Child's Play. I understand if you're flat broke, but surely most people have something to give.

Definitely, I cannot believe that there is not some permanent banner on the top like there has been in years past I believe. This year needs all the help it can get.
 
I love this site, but Cheapy......please tell me WHY???? WHY??? won't you post a sticky for this on the Deals forum......i'm sure many people can contest that that banner at the top is easily missed, just like Ads are easily overlooked, its right next to it, therefore, easily overlooked.................i'm sure they are more than 70% of people joined to this community that just go straight to the deals forum and leave....b/c I"M ONE OF THEM.....only reason I donated was b/c i knew about it from last years past.......i probably originally found out b/c YOU STICKIED IT ON THE DEALS FORUM....please CHEAPY PLEASE!!!!!!!

I think if it was stickied in the deal forum we would already be near 40k. That would have been the best place to put it since everyone would have seen it. It should probably go there ASAP.

Haven't been working for 4 months while waiting on my work permit but I donated $10 anyway. Everyone should be able to donate at least something I think!

Don't know if I will be able to watch but I will definitely donate now that I see the head CheapAss is taking it one step further. Will the amount of money donated affect how long you stay on air?
