CAGbag: Get your questions answered on CAGcast

Wombat, you mentioned this when you previewed the Captain America game. In the new Avengers cartoon and screenshots from the Cap movie, it looks like Marvel is re-writing history showing that Hydra (a made-up Marvel terrorist group) tried taking over Europe during WWII instead of Nazi Germany. As a Jew do you find this offensive or just them being overly politically-correct? I'm not Jewish and I find this a disgusting Disneyfication of history.

This is actually a week old but I kept forgetting to bring it up.
You may or may not be familiar with the show Glee. I think Wombat knows it.

Anyway they had a episode in which the 'pretty enough for TV' dudes were all self conscious about being on stage in their underwear. While the idea that any of these guys finds their bodies so hideous they'd be embarrassed does lend itself to a certain level of amusement, they actually brought up an interesting topic. The characters were talking about why girls are so harsh in their critique of men's bodies and the idea was proposed that it was linked to internet porn. Since girls now have easy and completely private access to as much naked man imagery as they can handle it's made them more aggressive and horny.

My question to you is who came up with it first? Does CheapyD with his international dealings accidentally (or intentionally *wink wink*) influence people who influenced writers for Glee? Or the more likely do you think a Glee writer is a CAGcast fan? or do you have a different for less likely idea?

Hey Shipwreck, did you stay over Cheapy guest room during your trip to Japan? Did decline his offer knowing about Cheapy "guest room experience" with his wife?

Do you think microsoft should have 3 levels of membership of xbox live? Silver , gold and platinum. Platinum memberships could pay extra for all extra content while gold memberships can pay the old original price and have less content.

What did the shipwrecks buy in their multiple trips to akihabara? Since shipwreck probably dropped $10,000 or more over there I can't believe it wasn't discussed on the CAGcast?

CheapyD know you're a big fan of Howard Stern so how good does it feel to combine your love of videogames and shock radio into the Cagcast. I can hear some influences of Howard in your style and you even have your own Ba Ba Booey adn Robin. I'll let you figure out who is which.

I was wondering what you guys think of the metacritic reviewer's scores vs the user's scores for Black Ops given the comment about how reviewers might decrease their scores since it was made by Treyarch.

Also, what do you think about the pricing for the RB3 DLC that updates the legacy tracks for RB1 & RB2?

Hey guys, just a couple of topics that you might be interested in discussing in this week's Cagcast, both having to do with COD: Black Ops.

First of all, how do you guys feel about consumers not giving a shit about the Activision/Infinity Ward debacle? Can the gaming press finally stop treating Treyarch like they're Activision's redheaded stepchild? Black Ops' first day sales exceeded Modern Warfare 2 by almost a million units. It seems the impact of review scores and the opinions of the gaming journalist is much less than the blog communities would like to think.

I was also wondering, did you read the comments from the Cuban government on Black Ops? I'm not sure if you'll find this interesting, but it certainly caused me to do some thinking about Treyarch's intentions. In case you haven't played the game, maybe you should skip over my next few sentences. In the game, in a rewrite of history, you assassinate Castro. It just didn't occur to me that this is a man who is still alive and the leader of their country. It would be the equivalent of having a mission focus on assassinating President Obama.

And probably the worst part is that the mission isn't treated like the "No Russian" airport scene from MW2, it's just another "ra ra", chest pounding, "let's get him" style mission. I guess when you're dealing with actual history you risk offending some people, but creating an artificial history where you murder a very much current political figure seems a bit much. I really don't care, I'm not easily offended. It just seems it wasn't designed to make some sort of heavy handed political statement, but instead was just an oversight. I'd love to hear your thoughts on all of this, love the show!

Hey guys. Question for cheapy. How are you finding your new 3d tv?? Have you tried the 3d mode yet. Just wondering as im thinking of picking one up myself in time for christmas. Keep up the good work guys!

you guys may have already answered this....

Whatever happened to the cag iphone app. I am listening to some episodes you guys recorded in june of 2009 and cheapy is talking excitedly about the iphone app coming soon :) and here it is late 2010 and no iphone app. or did i miss something

What do you guys think about call of duty black ops selling 5.6 million copies day one. Im starting to think that losing those higher ups from infinity ward is not going to effect activision very much

Here's a question that doesn't dwell on peeing in the shower. (Seriously guys, it's gross; stop talking about it.)

Over on GameFaqs, they're doing a "Game of the Decade" poll. Normally, their polls are just bullshit, but this one is kinda interesting. As I type this, it is still first round.

Looking at the brackets, you can see it's going to end up being World of Warcraft versus The Sims. This is what I find interesting: these are both games that have successfully targetted the non-gamer. (Katamari Damacy and Eternal Darkness are both fantastic games - but did Mr. T ever do a commercial for them? I think not.)

So, my question(s) is: should being able to break out and be popular in the mainstream be the criterion to qualify a game as game of the decade? (As in, popularity being more important than being a good/ fun game.)

My follow-up question: which of the two would you choose - the (arguably) epitome of single player games, The Sims or the ultimate multi-player game WoW?

Cheapy

Aright, what's with the Nintendo hate.
I've never shared tastes in games with any of the Cagcast crew but still the podcast has plenty to offer. Great stories, interesting perspectives on the business side, the media side, the japan side and more of gaming.

So, I don't care if you like Nintendo, but hating on it like you do is just rude.

And I dare you to put up a poll on whether listeners care about cheapy, wombat, and shipwreck's taste in gaming. Because I really bet that outside of shipwreck, most people won't care.

Which isn't a bad thing. Your podcast and site is very unique and has something else to offer. But I'd really prefer if the Nintendo fans were just a little more appreciated.

Now I know Wombat will be going to PAX East 2011, but what about you Cheapy and Shipwreck?

Cheapy it's obviously going to be a big hassle to travel around the world for it. Shipwreck on the other hand, any interest? And maybe whoever goes can do some sort of panel that doesn't take place at the same time as the keynote speech.

Shower heads are limited to 2.2gpm of water. Depending on

How long you pee for
Whether you are multitasking while you pee
Your gallon per flush rate

You may not be saving all that much water.

I still support the practice.

Hey Wombat,

With CAG's annual Child's Play charity drive starting up again, do you think you can get some hook ups from Malt-O-Meal this year again? I know I would definitely donate more if I knew I had a chance to win a box of Blue Berry Muffin Tops? (my new favorite cereal thanks to you)

I need some advice from Cheapy, baldy-to-baldy.

I've decided that my hairline has receded enough that it's time to start shaving my head. That's right, a full-on chrome-dome.

Cheapy is the highest profile slaphead that I can directly ask for tips on shaving your own head. I've installed a fog-free mirror in my shower, so I use that with a razor while I'm showering. I'm still missing bits on the back here and there.

Any tips for the noob cranium-carver?

Call me crazy but I am waiting for Mass Effect 3 to play the Mass Effect 2 DLC.

Why? Playing story-driven DLC shortly before a sequel is released is a great way to immerse yourself back into a plot without having to invest too much time. Mass Effect, Fable, Fallout, Assassin's Creed, Dead Rising, The Force Unleashed, Halo etc...

Keeping CAG's updated on past DLC for similar sequels may be a good segment to add to the CAGcast.

CheapyD, a few things I wanted to share...my cousin and I met you, Wombat and Boatcrash at The Golden Gopher for the CAG E3 Gathering. We've been listeners to the CAG Cast since episode #1 and in fact the CAG Cast inspired us to start our own podcast which can be found on iTunes under Let There Be Games Modcast. Now my question, I re-watched Robocop the other night and it got me thinking, what's the best retail release of the Robocop Trilogy available? Looking for your recommendation.

Thanks for the great show,

Hey Guys long time listener here, Wanted to ask what's the best way to getting into video game journalism and being successful at it and how exactly did you go about getting press releases of games for reviewing purposes. Any advice on this whole process would be great thanks. Keep up the great show Slaphead and Company! (Wombat is right that is satisfying) lol

Here's a question for Cheapy...Why don't you grow a manly beard!? You seem to have great facial hair coverage, and don't have an office job that would require you to be baby smooth, and it would be very fun to monitor the progress. I'm certain it wouldn't affect your sex life in many negative ways...

HEY CHEAPY !!!

I was wondering if Ms. Cheapy had a problem with you tokin it up, or if she actually joins you in your practices.

Thanks

Hope I get an answer :D

Hey Cheapy,

I can't believe I'm about to post something non game-related but do you remember a long time ago when you talked about the one way to improve the interface between a computer and someone watching porn on it? Well......

(This link is somewhat NSFW)

Cheapy, Wombat, and Shipwreck --

In walking the line between acceptable and unacceptable forms of in-game advertising, I had an idea that I wanted your reactions to. We already have had some company sponsored achievements in games (think Old Spice Swagger achievements in Madden 11), but what if companies sponsored or co-opted in-game achievements with an unlock on Xbox.com that allowed you to generate and print a uniquely barcoded coupon for the sponsor's product?

An example: In Ninja Gaiden 3, say, you walk into a particular room and decapitate all the enemy ninjas without taking damage, prompting the CLEAN SHAVE achievement, and a separate blip for "award unlocked" result. You now can log in at Xbox.com and print out a coupon for a free Gillette Fusion "Gamer" Razor. Or you get the "DOWN IN FRONT!" Borderlands achievement and get a Rent 1, Get 1 coupon from Redbox.

In my mind, it would add actual value to various achievements, drive you to Xbox.com (which Microsoft wants), to consciously look at an ad and coupon for the sponsor (which the sponsor wants) and possibly use said coupon to buy the product (which the sponsor also wants). You also keep the ads and logos out of games where they wouldn't otherwise belong, which the player wants.

What say you?

I have a question for Shipwreck- I don't know if I've ever seen you give an "Awful" score on any of your reviews. Has this ever happened? Also, if you had to pick a game from this year to give an "Awful" score, what would it be? I just played through Rock of the Dead and would like to nominate it.

What do you three think of the recent success of Kinect and Move?

Do you think this will translate into longterm success or do you still believe the devices are destined to fail?

Also, if sales continue, do you think this will have a "Wii effect" with a influx of crappy motion games?

In the near future, do you expect most releases to target this new casual gaming audience over traditional gamers?

Personally, I hope both devices crash and burn.

Love the CAGcast, keep up the good work.

So apparently it is now possible to purchase live crabs from vending machines in Japan. No word if the GIANT ENEMY variety is available, but it IS Japan, so I suspect it's just a matter of time.

I know you've already talked about the weirdest things you've seen in vending machines over there (used panties, firearms). But what is something you would like to see sold in a vending machine that isn't currently available? Conversely, what do you never want to see behind that glass?

Hey Cheapy,
My friend slept with you in college, and she said you were the best lay that she ever had!
What is your secret and how can I get in touch with you?

Cheapy -- did you see the Yamato movie? I'm a fan of the old school anime Star Blazers, so hoping you can give a short review of the movie.

Hey guys, I may just be missing it, but is there was any way to make our Wishlist available for others to see besides letting them in our account? Similar to Amazon's wishlist stuff, but far more useful with the pricetracker being attached to it.
Have you guys seen "The Human Centipede" yet? It is give new meaning to Ass to mouth.
Have to give a bump to this question as well. I've heard about it, but don't think I can watch it all of the way through. It's available on Netflix instant I think.

Would love to hear a movie review on this - any thoughts gentleman?

Hi Guys, I have recently bought an ipod touch and was wondering what are the best apps to get. Ive never had an ipod touch or iphone before so would like to hear your opinions on what to start out with.

Hey guys, I saw how much you guys liked Pinball FX 2 and how much Shipwreck liked the leaderboards. But do you think the game could be improved with by stealing from Pac Man CE and adding a Time Limit mode? That way you could play the game in 5 or 10 minute chunks instead of grinding away towards a high score. Or am I missing the point of pinball?

Also, what other games would be better if they just added a time limit?

Greetings from Kochi Mr Cheapy D,

I don`t think you have been telling the whole truth about the superiority of Japanese toilets. Outside of expensive Tokyo neighborhoods, and certainly outside of Tokyo, there are still many Washiki (Squat toilets!).

Have you tried to use one? How was it? I think it could make for an interesting You Tube video…

Love the show.

Long time listener, first time CAGBag question asker.

I know I heard about a Gamestop guarantee for their online used games to have cases and manuals on the CAGcast. But I recently just bought Little Big Planet GOTY edition and it came without an instruction manual. I can't find any new information on this and one of the top hits from google is from a year ago linking here to CAG. If you could point me where to twitter or email someone about this that would be great.

Thanks for the show, and f the haters.

That guarantee only lasted a couple months last year. However, normally you can just walk into your local store tell them you want to exchange cases for one with the manual (whether or not they have one is ymmv). I have done that a couple times and many CAGs have had the same success.
